Comments or Feedback

What’s the difference?

Sometimes during training Kyle will ask other members to provide feedback and make comments on another member’s website, the purpose of this is to get their new website Google ranking and health to improve our chance of success. Remember this site is based on "Paying it forward". It's also to get some feedback on the site itself. However, it seems that some members struggle with how to do this properly so I thought I would share.

Comments are left on someone’s website (Our BUSINESS) these comments should be positive, encouraging and could even be a question about something in the content as to engage further comments. This is all done so that future visitor’s feel it’s a legitimate website and the owner knows what he or she is talking about. This is NOT the place to leave a review or leave your own website URL for it to be reviewed, this should be done within the training module or via private message (PM).

Feedback is NOT left on someone’s website this is where you can provide advice to the owner and training tips that might have been missed in training, but these should be left within the training module section or a PM to the website owners WA profile.

Just think about it and consider how a negative comment or a laundry list of things they did wrong would look to a potential new client. Would you like YOUR potential clients to see that?

I know that we can just not approve your comment but the point of the task is to build not only our website health and Google rankings, but also our BUSINESS and if we don’t approve your comment it’s just a waste of everyone’s time in my opinion.

Just hoping this will help clarify.....and feel free to leave me comments HERE not on my website UNLESS they're good ones....:-)

Thanks in advance for reading!

Thank you so much for the clarification Melanie, that is exactly what I thought :)

Great post, it really clarified things for me!!! Thank you!

You're Welcome, I'm glad it helped!

Thanks Melanie, it is a bit confusing & sometimes you have to guess what sort of feedback someone wants, ie: general to the website or specific to the content, as it isn't always spelt out.
Cheers :)

You're welcome Faye, Yes I do know that it can be a bit confusing that's why I thought this would be helpful!

Wish you great success!

Melanie

I know for some of our newer members it can be confusing, I did not get it when I first started then again we did not have the site feature

Yes that's why this community is so great....it keeps evolving and we have the ability to communicate with everyone and share thoughts and ideas.

Thanks

Hey Melanie - thanks for giving us clarification on this. I know I have shied away from giving feedback because it's not comfortable for me. But I know how helpful it can be, if done in the right way - it has been for me when I've received it. I'll try to step out a little in that area.
Heather

Hi Heather, Thanks for your comment. I know that it can be difficult to give feedback.....I think because as a society we've all been taught to be kind to people, which in theory is a nice thought. However, in my opinion I prefer honesty over kindness. Obviously you don't want to be mean or rude as everyone has a right to their own opinions and decisions, but the point of feedback is to get others opinions. So if you're not open to listening to anyone's suggestions then you should not ask them to provide it.

The ultimate point here is that comments and feedback should be given in the appropriate place. Comments can either help our business or hurt it publicly. Feedback is to help other business owners grow and succeed but this should NOT be done publicly.

Again, I appreciate your comment and remember giving feedback is a benefit to all of us and it can be positive or negative but always with respect and honesty.

Wish you great success!
Melanie

Very well put!

Great discussion Melaniess.

Thank you very much! I hope it helps shed a little light on the subject.

Have a great weekend!

Melanie

Thank you Melanie, it can't be repeated enough, seems that a lot of people have troubles to define where the both threads are for.

Thanks Loes, someone read my original post and asked me to repost I know it's been done by several others but sometimes I think different perspectives are a good thing as everyone learns differently and appreciate various opinions.

BTW, since I have your expert ears at the moment, and this re-post was stirred by someone asking me if it was possible to re-post a blog here at WA is there a way to get a previous post back out to the community? I asked in live chat and obviously it worked but I had to create a new blog and delete the old one in order to accomplish it. Which meant I lost the comments and likes and if someone favorite it I assume it will just tell them it's been removed?

I know you can edit but it doesn't appear to go back out to the community. If you don't know of another way is it something that you might be able to suggest to Kyle & Carson?

Thanks for taking the time to read my post!
Have a great weekend!
Melanie

You can write a new blog, and add the link into it to the old post, that's the only way to keep your comments alive. I just saw a blog like this:

Ok thanks for the tip!

Melanie

Thanks Roger appreciate the comment, just hoping to help clarify for people especially for the new members as we are all learning here.

Wish you great success!

Melanie

Excellent post!

And I should know, since I made that very mistake not long ago!

Thanks for the instruction!
