Congratulations to you, Carol! And your husband! Here's my internet story:

I moved to San Francisco to be a standup comic, which I did for 8 years. In 1999 Hilary, my late wife, passed away from cancer.

I moved back to Vermont to be with my family: brother, sisters, and mother.

After a couple of years, I started internet dating. This was back when I had to have a friend scan my photo and email it to me. I wanted a picture with only me in the photo, and where I looked as good as a fat, 50ish, bald, unemployed man (I had ALL that going for me!) could.

I posted a photo of me holding a Thanksgiving Day turkey.

A woman from New Hampshire asked, "Are you the one on the left or the right? And does this mean you cook?"

I replied, "I'm a bit dyslexic, but I believe I'm the turkey on the left. And yes, I do cook -- in more ways than one."

We've been married for 15 years.

Fantastic! My late husband Chuck also died in 1999; heart attack.. Joe was working in a retirement job at Cabela's - fly fishing department - when we met online in 2004. By that time, I had moved from East Lansing to northern Michigan into a 4-season vacation home on a small lake that Chuck and I were in the process of purchasing whe he died. Having a lake in the backyard was enough to motivate Joe to leave Cabela's and pro forma fishing equipment behind. His best early line: "I'm trainable." I showed him your website. He recognized everything you mentioned.
