The Power of Placing Your Content on Medium.com

Hi Folks,

Sometimes, writing content other than your own site has some benefits..

The above screenshot is a top ranking spot on Medium.com for one of my target keywords. In fact, this is what's called a featured snippet where it's actually above the top spot of Google.

So, if you are feeling frustrated at your current website rankings: Do some keyword research and write some content on Medium.com!

The additional benefit to this is you can add a nice link pointing back to your site which builds your sites authority.

Regards,
Jay

Nice! How does one get started with Medium?

You can sign up on their page, but first have a good read of Mediums rules before signing up.
They're not too restrictive but Medium tries to be AI free.

Before you can apply for their partner program you will need at least 100 followers.
You really have to be consistent to build a following, and to make a few dollars once you have been accepted into their partner program.

Michael.

Hi - you no longer need followers to be accepted in the Partner Program.

Ok... news to me...

Don't you need some sort of subscription that you pay a little for?

If you want to make money through the Medium Partner Program, yes, you need to be a paid member.

It's $5 per month or $50 per year.

If ya can’t get them to come to you via blogging, then you can go to them on Medium (and other platforms)

But remember, these other platforms have RULES.

My understanding is that links from Medium are nofollow. So can you say more, how do they add to site's authority? Thanks.

Authority was not from my experience with Medium but with other sites still You gain traffic from posting popular articles in your niche and building personal branding.

If he meant personal branding, he would have said so. Instead, he writes about links that build site authority.

Hi Jovo,

While the link is a no-follow attribute and some may say that it doesn't pass authority, but I am of the opinion that Nofollow links are a bit more nuanced.

I personally believe they still help, just not to the same degree that Dofollow links do. Evidence of this shows up in my Google search console links area.

Sorry for the confusion I though you replied to my comment below.

OK, many thanks. I guess it is the same with links from Wikipedia and Quora, that are also nofollow, I see them in my GSC report.

This together with personal exposure which I see in your post there, as mentioned by Andy above, cannot be bad.

No problem, Jay replied, so Google registers links, and this cannot be bad in such circumstances.

Nice work yet again dear Yogi, I haven't played on Medium yet but have had good luck ranking on other platforms for both solid authority links and traffic siphoned off the big fish.

Never heard of it. Thanks for the tip.
Bob
