The World Refugee Week

From Alaska to Japan, worldwide over 65 million people have been forced from their homes due to conflict and violence. 65 million is really A LOT!

The citizens of the Netherlands:

To make it more visual, here are 10.000 dots

And here are 1 million dots

And that 65 times!

Let's pray and send our loving thoughts towards all those people without a safe and cozy house to live.

My prayers are with those unfortunate ones

Thank you Roopesh:)

Yes. Yesterday was a day I realized that even though in the US, where I live, and am not happy with certain political happenings, there is a world out there of people who are suffering. All of us-no matter our country- must somehow put our awareness and love towards these people who don't have the most basic place to call their own. And if the opportunity to take some action manifests, then we must act. We get so caught up in our own personal issues. Thanks for this reminder, Loes.

What a heartwarming reply Marsha, thank you!

Very unfortunate situation for so many - kudos to the counties hosting many of them for trying to help

They are doing their best, but there should be more international help, I know for a fact that the children in the Turkey camps are victims of child labor, and nobody seems to care

I am in prayer right now and ongoing. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

I wished the situation didn't need any prayer, and there would be no refugees

Look at what is happening in Syria, genocide, and the UN is silent. For some unknown reason the UN likes to condemn only Israel - the only democracy in the Middle East, where people live freely regardless of religion, race or gender.

Assad exceeds boundaries and nobody seems to care

Good Morning Loes,

We all come from the same source and we will all be going back there. When the human race has finally understood that we are all equal there will be peace.

Taetske

When I look around me Taetske, there is a long way to go there

It is a sad thing to see so many refugees in this world, I wonder how we can help, thanks Loes dear.:)

Change people´s attitude towards refugees?

Maybe not much awareness? :)

Yes, maybe more interaction between the locals, a lot of local people have fear for the unknown

Oh peace you are so illusive for human beings. Where are you? Are you in the lower forms of animals? Why?
Where is that theological perception that human is the master piece of the Creator and that they are created in the image of God?

I don't understand what you mean to say with the first part of your reaction Jimmy, I do understand the second part, though

Peace has ever been the pursuit in political and religious groups but it's so illusive.

Other animals mock at us as we say we are higher in form than them but we cannot organize ourselves. Violence is everywhere and it brings heavy load on emotional, spiritual and political responsibilities and accountabilities.

I get you now:) Yes, it's heartbreaking how humanity, as a higher form of life, as we think we are, are so destructive towards all life and the environment, which is not even ours but which we have the earth in lease-lend. Humen are very bad landlords.

True!

It is of all times, Loes. "Thanks" to all the different kind of Gods/religion and dictators. The Netherlands had, at the beginning of the Great War (1914-1919) almost 1 million refugees on a population of about 6 million.
It is too bad we are in the middle(?) of such an inhuman period, having never learned of the past/our history. Yet it is 2017.
Thoughts....
Johan Wijngaarden

My thought?
It's of all times, is a weak excuse, Johan. The priority of all human should be to provide a safe place to live for everyone.
These are only the refugees, we need to prioritize the well-being of people in the ghetto too.

It is no excuse. I could not agree more with you. ALL people should be entitled to have a valuable life in a safe place. No one is better then the other. When we all think that way, we could work out towards such a peaceful world.
Johan

Amen, Loes. Tragic really and hard to grasp the enormity of it all.

It's indeed so many, Carol
