When I read blogs of people about numbers, or more complaints of people about why there post is not ranking, or is not ranking fast enough, I wonder at what point they are.

They have written a great post, and then they start analyzing, and analyzing, and more analyzing....

They spend hours and hours looking at the numbers, and it doesn't show anything more as then when they are not looking at those numbers. It doesn't make a difference. The numbers stay the same. And those hours are a waste.

The only thing that can keep you in the creative mode is:

WRITE ANOTHER POST

and another one, and another one, and another one, and another one...

That will bring you more success than whining about analytics, asking, complaining and checking up numbers for hours.

Stay in the creative mode, stop tackling yourself.

Such Wonderful & Useful Advice Loes!

I have been guilty of checking and over-checking my stats so much and you are correct in saying to stay in a creative mode and write another post, blog or article.

I have recently done more of that and low and behold the stats are taking care of themselves.

I must admit that being a numbers guy, I do still check them but at least now I don't dwell on them.

I have now realized that I have more time to help Friends here at WA, write more posts and I even write a new training just a few hours ago. Something that I haven't done in quite some time.

Thank you Loes for always sharing & caring my Friend,

Tony

Good advice, Loes. Since I enjoy writing and don't know how to use the numbers yet anyway, being creative is not a problem for me at this time. But the time will come....and I won't be obsessing over them, thanks to your sage advice! Carol

I’m guilty of that, I think it’s natural to keep checking where you’re at and I do get despondent at times because like everyone here I want to see some money. Nevertheless you are absolutely correct and I try to keep my head down and write.

Google Analytics can become a depressing place when you visit too often. Much better to be busy and be proud of what you have done and keep doing it

Grind it out!

Thanks for this post, I needed to hear that.

You can get really disappointed by the numbers, and that reflects your creativity Howard

Great advice Loes. Sometimes we can stare and stare before we post. Then after posting and promoting on SM, we stare some more at Google Analytics expecting to see 10,000 real-time visitors.
By then I could have written "10,000" new articles.
:)

Good advice, Loes! I added this comment to Jorn's post on this topic:

Very good advice!
One thing that is helpful if you do this is to put it to good use instead of lamenting, especially in Google Search Console.
If you are low on traffic, you are probably still getting some info on keywords (queries).
Jay encourages looking at those keywords to get ideas for new content. Even in the beginning with little stats you can find ideas to work on.
Do a switch and change the disappointment to inspiration for new content.
Great post! :-)

I get stuck at times, striving for perfection, but then the output in these cases would be a zero.

Hi, Loes,
You are very right, but sometimes one has to look at her work two times. You see, my site was ranking well but at a time the rank started falling. I am doing all I could but nothing was happening. Loes,in this case what will you do?

Sorry, Loes, into two words I should have written. They analyzed the Beatles and said their music wouldn't work. Same for the telephone.

As long as you have your heart and soul in it, surprises do happen

You can analyze yourself silly, it just does stop the creative flow

If we are gifted with intuition, then we don't need any analysis. We simply know what to do to succeed. But..... :)

This is a nice article.

But how then do you improve if you don't look back to see what you can make better?

That's the very same reason why ANALYTICS exist. To help identify what works and what doesn't work. We don't just keep posting.
Reply
Loes Premium
You can analyze, but do not analyze till you drop "dead"

Spot on Loes! What do they call it? Oh yes, 'paralysis analysis' so much time wasted fretting about numbers and stats! lol

Since I discovered 'add url' I've been avoiding GWT and GA and just getting on with adding more content and to be honest, it's a much more enjoyable way to spend my time.

I've decided I'm only going to check my stats once a month and then forget about it. Hopefully one day I'll get a surprise when I do check those numbers! : )
Reply
Loes Premium
Just analyze once a month or so;)
