I've been downloading the free audio books from this site for several years now. I believe the earliest of these were back as far as late 2010. Some real classics on there! I wonder who would ever have the energy to dictate works such as Augistine's City of God and Confessions, and John Calvin's The Institute of the Christian Religion?
Before acceptance, these recordings must be near-perfect, without any outside noise, white noise and smooth dictation without coughs, studders, or loud guttural sounds. Intensity (including even the more emotionally driven dialog) must be at the same level throughout. Not to mention, I believe submissions are on a volunteer basis!
9000 free ones? This industry has gotten pretty large! You know, compared with the paid-for ones, this is a small part of the collection. It's beginning to rival the Gutenberg Project.
It's not easy to record yourself, not to mention how many of these are actually 500+ pages long!
Hi, Loes, this is a great site thanks for sharing. I wish I had more time to use it. It would be cool to volunteer and read some of the books. All the best.
