Sorry You're Not Ambassador Any More - Say What!

That's the private email I got, not here but through my website. I woke up and as part of my morning routine I check my email, both here (PM's) and from my site.

And the one email I got through my site was titled "Sorry you're not amassador any more"

Well honestly after a short giggle I did reply and I thought I would share with you what I said, also giving you my feelings about the ranking here, which I know is a tender issue for some.

Hi (name withheld - obviously)

Yes I was an ambassador (for over a year in fact) my goal was never to become an ambassador, my focus was to help people with my experience and I guess by doing a lot of video training and replying to questions I climbed in the rankings.

But truth be told and this is my truth - the ranking here has no meaning to me and by that I mean it serves no purpose in building an online business. All it does is provide a measure of your engagement within the WA community.

And hey that's great, but the problem with that as I see it. It can the shift focus away from what truly matters and that's building your online business. This should be your focus first and foremost then engaging with the WA second or even third on your list.

The owners Kyle and Carson are smart cookies and they know that creating a community of like minded people that engage and help others will only make the community stronger and that's a good thing.

But make no mistake the ranking here a nothing to do with your business's online success. Nothing, zero, nadda.

Also and what I see more and more - having the title ambassador also has nothing to do with one's success or knowledge of this whole thing called online marketing.

I've see ambassadors that have no clue of what's going on, giving idiotic and obvious regurgitated advice that has no basis in experience and others simply gaming the system to gain rank. In my opinion that is both sad and very harmful to new marketers (members).

But there is nothing I can do about it, and quit frankly not my problem because the WA is not mine to monitor or regulate.

So being an ambassador at the WA has no value to me - I don't need some arbitrary ranking system to tell me how engaged I am.

My focus has always been scaling up my businesses - helping the people that have come here as my referral, and then helping others in the WA when I can. And by focusing on helping my referrals first and others second, my rank naturally dropped, simply because my engagement was not - well as, engaging.

And honestly it could go to 10,000 and it makes no difference to me, I couldn't care less.

I guess my point is, focus on your business first and always first - becoming an ambassador will not help you one bit in building your business, help the people that came to the WA through your referrals first and help others when you can.

For me it's not complicated. When and if the ranking here can ever add to my income, then and only then will it get my attention.

I hope I answered your question (name here), and of course anytime you need a hand please don't hesitate giving me a buzz here or in the WA.

I believe in you
Leo

That was my reply to this particular email.

I believe in you

Totally agree with your sentiments. ... And the e mails that come in notifying me of total self indulgent vacuous blogs are becoming more prevalent. The multi motivational tosh and other Facebook type similarities are swamping the key training items and helpful blogs.
I am considering unfollowing those creating these distracting ramblings. Those who post no value rubbish on an almost daily basis in their attempts to climb the rankings or maintain their undeserved ambassador status.

well said.

regards
Suzanne

Yeah, I don't follow that many people any more, simply because I got tired of all the random useless information that filled my inbox, and for the ones I did follow many of those have been unfollowed for the same reason.

Well said :)

Thank you

Indeed Leo!

Thank you

Ill still luv you with a 10000 rank! Dont you worry =)

Whew - lol

Hello!! I agree with you, Leo!! For me, Wealthy Affiliate's ranking system is annoying. My primary focus is on to ranking my websites rather than be highly ranked on Wealthy Affiliate site. I just don't want to take away my time from building my future business!

I've seen so many posts about the raaking here - both positive and negative - I'm sure the both Kyle and Carson are monitoring what's going on with it, and I know they want to make it better - tough thing to do in my opinion.

Yeah, both positive and negative most definitely and over the course of time, it has definitely created conflict, but it has also lead to an incredible amount of motivation.

Whenever their is an algorithm involved, it can create issues and minimize them. We are getting better and the accuracy of these and the benefit of this platform as it gets more established will become more and more apparent.

As always, we appreciate your feedback and the feedback from the community. Mucho gracias!

I am just so grateful for WA. I know the WA ranking is not perfect but neither is anything else 'perfect' in this world. I think of it as a tool and a gauge that I use to improve myself. Making money online isn't just about the money. As with any business, it is about the service and care that we provide for others. When we give, we will receive back. I look at the WA ranking as way to keep me in check as to how I am giving and sharing.

And yes, our focus needs to be about building and monetizing our websites but we are all part of the big picture, we are all connected and we can express our care and support for each other. Kyle and Carson, thank you for all that you do and thank you for WA.

Well put. I didn't join WA to get a bunch of people to like me. I joined because I wanted to building an online business and escape the corporate rat race. I agree with your priority list. 1) Help my referrals move in a positive direction, 2) build my own online empire, then, as time permits, 3) help others in the WA community.

Did you mean:

#1 My business first
#2 Help my referrals
#3 Help others

Right on.

After being at WA for over a year now I have learned that just because someone is an ambassador does not instantly make them more knowledgeable than someone with a rank of 500, for example.

When I first joined, I assumed ambassadors were successful and knew what they were doing.

But now I know better. The longer you are a member of WA the more you will learn about other members. Some of the best advice I have received has come from those who are not in the top 100 (or even 200).

As you said, anyone can become an ambassador, but not everyone will be successful or know what they are doing.

And that's the problem I see, how are they going to screen out the ambassadors who are just trying to rank and that includes the ones that have little to no knowledge or skills from the ones that have the knowledge and skill set to truly help? Tough to do.

Because many people here equate an ambassador with success and that's not the case at all at the moment.

Very well said, Leo. Anyone who's thinking of trying to be an Ambassador simply for the title should be forced to read it.

Just shows where thier focus is, funny thing is, this will be the same person whining and bitching they are not having any online success

Haha - sounds like you have a stalker if they're telling you about your rank before you know about it :)

FWIW - I agree - the rank here is a great boost initially, and it is a reflection of how engaged you are within the community, but it will not pay the bills or your fees. Working on your business is the only thing that will do that.

Cheers Leo,

Mark - aka NOT your stalker!! But always keen to read your posts either way!

Damn, never thought of that - lol

I most definitely agree with you, Ambassadorship should not be a core focus at all. It is the byproduct of being involved naturally, helping others, interacting, asking for help, etc.

As we move forward though it will be playing more and more of a role here in WA, it is just taking a bit of time to get it to a place where we are happy with it. The algorithms continue to change and we continue to develop new systems and platforms that we also take insights from in terms of the Rank here at WA.

Further integration and further benefits will be coming for those that are ambassadors, but the first focus for anyone, should be building their business!

Thank you for this clarification, Kyle!
Wasn't paying much attention to that box up right side till I was top 50.
Now, I'm finding myself still on Course 2 Lesson 9, still trying to navigate the app called Google +.

It's a strange but powerful feeling being that high in rank, but when I see the onslought from "below", I realize that my energies are not focussed correctly.

Being a technical slagger, needing to practice the lessons for some time before moving on, and having a website to keep alive and developed shows me that I need to get back to my original feeling, the one I had before hitting top 50:

The feeling of relaxing from the essentials by interacting, helping, and sharing my thoughts and positive feelings......

Just that........☺
