Is My Site Indexed in Google?

Fortunately, if you're using Site Content here at Wealthy Affiliate, you KNOW exactly when your site gets indexed by Google.

You can also, of course, check your Index Status on Google Search Console.

The Problem: Not Being Indexed by Google (anymore)

By now, you all know how much I love Wealthy Affiliate's Site Content Tool. You can tell by how excited I get when I share my Site Content Stats.

However, there's been one Stat I've been embarrassed to share.

For the longest time, I have had a BIG FAT ZERO in the Google Indexed Column.

Seeking Solutions:

I have spent hours and hours trying to work out what I am doing wrong on Google Search Console (Google Webmasters Tools), which always leaves me flummoxed and befuddled.

The frustrating part is that before I switched to https, I had loads of posts indexed in Google - and then it kind of plateaued out - even though my posting schedule has increased phenomenally since then. I suspect it has something to do with setting my preferred URL but haven't been able to figure out how to do that yet. Aargh.

Here's the graph on Google Search Console that shows this sad state of affairs:

I've also spent hours adding my links into Fetch as Google, to no avail.

Light at the End of the Tunnel

And then I came across Dom's brilliant post: Don't Use Fetch as Google - Use AddURL

Since I started doing it Dom's way and posting more frequently, I've started getting stunning emails like these from Wealthy Affiliate...Yaaaaay!!

And now my Site Content Stats are showing an improvement.

But... and there's a big but...

It's only one site, my newest site that is getting indexed by Google.

The Index Status Graph on Google Search Console for this site looks much healthier:

So... back to do the drawing board.

What am I doing differently on laurenkinghorn that is causing my site to be indexed on Google? And can I apply this knowledge to fix my other two sites?

Anyone know how to solve this problem?

  • Once upon a time my site was being indexed by Google.
  • Google Indexing appears to have stopped around September 2017.
  • Yahoo and Bing still seem happy with my sites.

If anyone has THE SOLUTION... it would literally change my life as a blogger if I could get this sorted.

I do Keyword research and choose a low hanging fruit keyword for every one of the posts I publish.

This effort is being utterly wasted if I'm not getting indexed on my higher authority sites as those are the posts that have a chance of ranking.

Please point me to the right training if you have created it or discovered it.

I'm ready to solve this problem once and for all.

Here's to us all being indexed.

Thanks for this informative post. I too am having problems with my posts not being indexed by Google.

I've created a post here in SiteContent about a week ago and it's still showing as not being indexed.

However, when I check Google Search Console, that post is listed in the pages (in the Search Analytics tab). I'm confused?

I'm going to try Dom's method.
Interestingly, my post appears in Bing - Ranked position 1 for the keywords. I submitted my URL's the same time to both search engines.

Hi Jackie, sorry, I missed your comment. I'm the last one to clear up any Google Search Console confusion. Google Search Console is such a mystery to me. Hope your posts are getting indexed now. I'm finding Content on all my Sites is getting indexed again, it's a huge relief. Hope same your side.

No worries Lauren.
Yes. It is all a bit confusing as to what the exact parameters are for being indexed, trusted and so on.

I'll be patient. I'm sure it will all come together soon.
All the best.

Also something that I recommend that you check out is Jay's 21 minute ranking method. And the 7 SEO strategies to explode your rankings of 2018: Both are going to be very useful in terms of helping you achieve quicker indexing, and better rankings.

Thank You so much, Kyle. Will do. Can't wait to get to the bottom of this.

Hi Lauren, first I want to say thank you for the message regarding Lynne. What an awesome and caring friend you are!!

I am also using ‘Don’t Use Fetch As Google – Use AddURL' by Dom and that is totally amazing.

(Also want to say, you're an excellent writer!)

Like your predicament ... my site was also indexed by Google but stopped several months ago...

When I checked further, I had error messages on 4 posts on images. I found this out yesterday, went to look at one post and all my images on that post with the exception of videos were gone. I use DepositPhotos thinking the original images were removed but they are still there. Images affect indexing...

Anyway...I think I'll ask Kyle... I'll let you know what he says or perhaps someone already has a solution here.

Regards,
Monica

Thanks a million, Monica. I will look into that. Appreciate you stopping by with a solution.

You're welcome!

Thanks for this informative post.

Pleasure, Tanya.

Can't help you concretely Lauren Jean but I Hope it soon gets fixed.

Thanks so much, Goran.

Hi Lauren, I wish I had the solution to your problem, what I can say to you is, consult the experts: Kyle and Carson, or Sitesupport, or even Tony Hamilton. But it is good to ask the community as well, someone might have the right answer or the solutions to your problems.
Hope this helps

Hi Wendy, Thanks for your concern. I have just joined the Super Affiliate Program, looking forward to being tapped in - I am sure I will find solutions shortly.

i'm having this same issue, Google stopped indexing me 2 months ago... so i'm giving the add url a try to see if it's that or just that google doesn't love me that much.

You mean the site was indexed, and not anymore ? How can this be?Indexing is like stating that your site exists.Don't quite understand.

i mean, my site is indexed, but not my posts, only 7 of them are indexed and i have more than 100. Google stopped indexing my posts 2 months ago, even though i fetched as google and all. That's what Lauren means with this post, her sites are indexed in google but not the content, and you can't really have conversion if your content won't appear in google ranking.

Thanks. I see. The thing is I have the opposite trouble. My posts are indexed, and the site is not. Maybe because it's still site rubix, maybe because I messed up things there. Now will have to take some time to better understand what's wrong.Have been really busy with my job recently.
Good luck to you. BTW- do you do SEO things correctly? It might also influence Google search and ranking.

That could be the problem, google is not a big fan of sub-domains. Well i always had my doubts about SEO, i do everything that is on the certification course here in terms of SEO but... somehow i get the idea is not really working, i look for low hanging fruits all the time, try to use from 5 to 10 keywords... It worked for the first 7 posts i wrote, but not for the rest...

No, not only that. Do you fill in the inside? Description, alt text- all that?
Here's an example of description of the article:
"Some natural ways of boosting energy, of coping with fatigue and low energy levels, of making the brain work more effectively. The importance of a good diet."..It's not ideal, of course, but it's OK.
Alt text should describe the images in detail. Do you do it?
As for my site, yes, I will transfer it to the .com. or .net domain of course.
Good luck!:)

ooohhhh i've been skipping all that! i guess i have work to do now! thanks!!!

Yeah... It's sure part of success...:))

Hi Vera, I complete alt text on all my images now... but I haven't gone back to all my older images to update them. Do you think this would have an effect on Google indexing? It's older posts that have been indexed - not the newer one's.

Hi Ileana
Ooh, Thanks for that. i just asked Site Support to remove a Subdomain I created last year in May.

Hi Ileana, in Kyle's training he recommends using only 1 Low Hanging Fruit Keyword per post.

Thanks for clarifying, Ileana. Yes, that's exactly what I mean - my posts are no longer being indexed (as per the graph above).

I see this string was from a year ago but am losing sleep searching and trying to find out why my pages are not getting indexed and came across this when googling a question. Did you try filling in image descriptions and did it help indexing?

Good question. I will be interested to find that out myself.

You struggling with this too, Michel?

Yip.
