How to Gain Followers at Wealthy Affiliate
To become an influencer on social media there is one Golden Rule and that's
ENGAGEMENT
If you are not engaging with your audience, your followers, your group or tribe, you're not going to build a big following.
On Wealthy Affiliate this Golden Rule applies too but there's one big difference.
Big companies and Authority Website Owners usually hire Social Media Managers or use social media software to handle their engagement.
In a sense you can game the system.
On Wealthy Affiliate, you have to actually do the engaging yourself. There are no shortcuts.
But there is a HUGE benefit to doing so.
FRIENDSHIP
The original intention of Social Media, back when Facebook started, was to grow your social circle, your friendship base.
As Social Media has become more and more of a business, it's function has changed.
Here at Wealthy Affiliate, this intention still very clearly exists.
Yes, we have a business focus, a common focus. We are community of people all building our own online empires.
But it's the friendships, the real friendships we make here that make Wealthy Affiliate such a special community.
I haven't found this kind of community anywhere else on the net, this level of support - not even on Facebook where so many blogging groups exist.
And it's because Kyle and Carson have put so much thought into the tools they created to help us succeed.
What would we be without...
- Site Comments?
- Site Feedback?
- WA Blogs where we can get so many likes and comments and build our following?
- WA Tutorials where we can earn and learn via the Open Education Project?
- Live Chat where we can ask and answer questions?
So... if you want to increase your following here at Wealthy Affiliate, here's my number one tip.
Make REAL Friends Here
Your success here will not depend on quantity, the number of followers you gain.
Your success here depends on the quality of friendships you nurture here.
- Take the time to truly engage with people take an interest in them.
- Read their profiles.
- Learn their real names and address them by their name.
**And if you are one of those people whose WA name is not your real name, please add your name at the end of your comment or blog or question so it's easy for us to get to know who you are... WA is no place to be incognito.
Sometimes I have to leave a PM or a Live Chat to go to a Profile and scroll all the way down to Kyle's first comment to find the actual name of a person, just so that I can address a person by name.
- Help other members when they're stuck with something.
- Genuinely care about people.
- Write posts that motivate, inspire or solve a problem members are grappling with.
- And once you've made a good friend here, go to their website and leave them a comment.
- Follow them on Social media.
- Share their posts.

Hey, we cannot truly interact with one another if we do not care about other people. I believe that here at WA, we all care enough to want someone else to succeed. Great post.
Here is a quick tip to help you quickly find the REAL NAME of the person who has an alias:
Just hover over their picture with the 'mouse', wait a few seconds and in the message box, you'll see in feint gray, their name.
Takes loads of time off of going to their profile and scrolling all the way down.
PS I appreciate you as a REAL FRIEND!
:-)
Oh, really Edu? I did not know that!! That's amazing!! Thank You for that tip! You always have such a wealth of knowledge. Aw... Thanks for your PS. Likewise. :)
This is a very interesting post Lauren- it speaks truth and has some very good points. We should all take time out to engage with people here at wealthy affiliate, so we can help each other grow and become successful.
