I don't feel like commenting on WA anymore

So for the last week or two I haven't been commenting on peoples sites via the new commenting system.

I always appreciate people who leave valuable comments as I always try to leave lengthy and valuable comments also.

I worked it out the the average comment length I get is 200 words compared to what I dish out being 400-500. Another thing I noticed is folks on WA try to fool the WA system by creating small sentences then adding a new paragraph, has anyone else noticed this?

Okay, so I'm quite knowledgeable in most subjects and have ticked a fair few boxes, but when I get a site to review about penis enlargements then it's beyond my scope of intellect. So, I refresh my page or the Offer A Comment to get another website to review and all get is the same website over and over aging as if there's no other website to review on WA but that one. lol please tell me if you have experienced this and will this also change?

Okay so I read somewhere that Kyle is revamping the system. I can't wait so until them I'm refraining.

Have a great day

Sharon :)

Hi Sharon,
I haven't been very active in the comments section but I did one recently and had no problem. I understand your frustration because I would be there if it happened to me. Have you PM'd Kyle. I'm sure this will get fixed.
Saul

Hi Sharon,
I agree wholeheartedly. I got given a website recently to comment about which was promoting the value and benefits of smoking pot. I refreshed the Offer Comments page and got it twice again. So, I had no choice but to stand up for my values. I said some things.
And yes people do manage to rort the system not only with short sentences but also Site feedback comments. So it is a great concept but needs some tweaking.

P.S.My wife's name is Sharon, and she has reminded me that the name means Princess!

Hey so cool, it also means flower :) thx for adding your two cents worth of your experience :)

Duncan, There is no issue with commenting against something. Standing up for what you believe should be fine as long as it is worded well. Keep it up.

Hi Sharon
When the new comments system came into being a few months ago I too was being presented by these type of adult sites. I contacted Kyle by pm and they seemed to stop so I presumed he had disabled them in some way.
I've not been active in the comments section recently so cannot comment on what's being offered recently but I'm surprised that you have been asked to comment on a site dedicated to penis enlargement.
A quick pm to Kyle might sort this out and you're welcome to mention to him that I brought up this subject with him several months ago if you wanted to. Good luck.
Mark

okay Mark many thx

We have added a few things for this, but not enough apparently. More updates to come.

Perhaps having a content rating system could help the reviewers...offering alternate content family friendly options...just a thought. (Options a, b, or c)

Thanks, Sharon...good info...as I'm in need of bumping up my site relevance, I'll probably offer up some comments...but knowing this is very helpful...wishing you blessed and prosperous times!

Yeah, that is the best approach you can take. Of course your quality will always reflect you and we will likely have a system in place where the higher quality your comments are, the higher the quality commenters you will get posting on your site in return.

That sounds very fair. Rewards those who put in the work.

I have not been as active here lately as I should have. But maybe some just do not know what to say or are new to WA. I know writing is not my strong point but I do try to leave at least comments that is relevant to the site that I am viewing.

So be patient maybe if the one who is commenting on your site is new or in my case trying to think of what to say they may improve in time. But I know there is cases where some just try to cheat the system but hopefully most don't.

So I wish you much success here at WA and in all your endeavors.

Isaac "RedCloud" Johnson

By the way i wasn't trying to defend the ones who just don't care but speaking from someone who is cursed with A form of writers block when it comes to comments or blogging lol

Hi it's ok I understand your point, thx for commenting back, I appreciate it. :)

Hi Sharon,
I know how you feel, I have had something similar. One thing that does annoy me, is when you take the time to look over a site and leave a comment or suggestion, and they don't even acknowledge you, very bad manners.
Best wishes, Trevor.

THX Trevor, great to know I'm not alone :)

Hi Sharon! It is always your right when taking part of the comments' system here at WA to NOT fill out anything regarding a comment on a particular site that you feel embarrasses or offends you - such as the site that you mentioned concerning penis enlargements stated in your blog. My question to that individual is "yes" we are all adults here. But there is a time and place for that type of subject, IMO certainly not to be put up for review and comments being requested.

Some people I guess just don't think or understand that certain subject material is sensitive - such as the individual who put that article up asking for comments about the subject which both you and I feel are quite sensitive, Sharon.

While I have not yet seen one quite in that category, I remember being randomly assigned an article at a site which dealt with a subject that I personally found offensive - recreational drugs. No, the guy was not taking about medicinal purposes, (marijuna) concerning this drug in his article either. I just hit the button which brought up a different site and continued from there.

I have never run into the situation as what happened to you when you chose not to issue a comment on a site. You clicked out of a site yet were not presented another option. What I have run into is reviewing a particular site one day. And then the very next day the SAME site AND article pops up yet again.

Something does need to be done about that and I hope that Kyle can revamp some of the other stuff that takes place within the comments' system. Articles about penis enlargement do not belong! It has nothing to do with one's scope of intellect either. It's just plain offensive to some people - like myself and I'm sure other members of WA.

What is that saying, "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas"? The same applies with sensitive topic subjects that should not be open for discussion in such a place as the comments' system here at WA.

I tend to write out fairly long comments myself, especially if I can relate something personal that I have experienced regarding an article topic. I always try to find something good to say about an article - trust me I've seen a few that were borderline poor, (grammar, misspelled words, etc.). One article that I read I remember consisted of barely 200 words in its entirety, (if that) and asked to be reviewed by the site owner. I still tried to find something positive as I just loathe attacking someone for anything that has to do with the content of an article or its length.

It does not bother me as much if a person writes out only a 100 word comment on my sites. For the most part even with fairly short comments I've personally found that these individuals did leave something of value in their responses.

Kyle mentioned that as one of the golden rules in participating in this venture - different than reviewing a member's website, is to try and keep it positive. Also leave something of value and engaging in the way it is articulated in the comment. People need to think about that.

Thank you for your excellent blog article, Sharon. Hopefully it will catch the attention of Kyle and Carson!

Jeff

Hey Jeff thx so much for interjecting your view, we're on the same wave length for sure. Hope you have a great day :)

I had an experience as yours, but I "asked" for different websites. It takes some time, but they showed up. I guess maybe it was glitch in system.

Hum, it take ages and often I've got so frustrated that I go back to it in the afternoon and there's still no change lol - it's a total waste of time :)

it happens sometimes but most of the time I have no problems. nothing is perfect.

Yes I agree, for the most part the comment system here offers value...

With the option to decline accepting a comment as well as the option to simply not comment on an article or site you may find offensive, it is for the person on the keyboard to take action.

It is a very fine line between censorship and having the freedom the internet to write or have a nuche about anything that is your passion, What is my passion is likely now another's...

Where do you draw the line? I have my own lines and I follow them by using that reject button or refresh button, Very simple system and it works well....

I think I know what you're saying. I personally don't get offended or uncomfortable with the topics of sex or recreational drugs, and would be okay commenting on those types if I had something on topic and interesting to say. Maybe if there was an option where you select your topics where you can opt in to comment on sensitive topics.
