So much for Authorship

Google announced today that they are removing the photos from authorship in the Google results.

They have been making it more difficult for the images to show for several months now. I guess they decided to level the playing field for everyone.

I hope this is just a temporary thing but Google knows best.

Here is the announcement from John Mueller Webmaster Trend Analyst for Google.

I agree with bazboy247. We have to chart our own courses in life and in business. We should never put too much thought into these types of things. "Adapt and overcome". Somebody real smart said that.

Ever fickle Google. Always changing things. One thing I noticed was that when I look up my posts in Google from another computer (not my own) I have a picture, but not on mine. Isn't that weird?

Yay! An even playing field. :-)

since I don't have a site yet, can someone please explain what this means in non techie language

Veronica.

LOL I was just thinking the same thing, darlin'!

It means that Google will put a picture of you next to your search result if you have Google authorship but they have decided to stop doing this and next week they will decide to bring it back and so it goes on

Barry

Interesting! Good to be up to date though

Saw the pictures appear, then go away, then come back, and now... :)

Guess they decided that, overall, it wasn't adding much to the experience. We'll know in three months or so, when they keep with it or change it again.

According to their research it doesn't make a difference with conversions. Sad that this is the case. Anything that works to help is a good thing IMHO.

I have cone to the realization that if I build my online business with Google in charge I am in trouble
I believe that the only answer to getting people to your website is to go out there and get them rather than relying on them to come to you
Google changes the goal post every day so I will build my online business with my customers in mind and not bow and courtesy to every Google change and keep chasing the dragon
Google does not really care about me so I don't really care about Google

Barry

I agree, the goal posts do move frequently. It is a fact of life that Google is the biggest search engine though. So, you have to deal with it or find a way that Google doesn't matter to your efforts.

It would be interesting to see how it changes things for people without photos on their Authorship. Such as myself.

Feel like we're all getting punked on this one!!!

I don't know how that makes it look any better, but it doesn't bother me.
