Hi Guys, can anyone tell me if our sites come under wordpress.com or wordpress.org.?

It is a siterubix patent based on WordPress .org, open source :) But Kyle has you covered here.

You are actually using neither, you are using the Wordpress CMS here, which is the framework of your website. But it is hosted here on our servers, with our own custom solutions on the website side of things.

Wordpress is open source, meaning that any platform/services can use their technology and framework.

I hope this clarifies for you here.

As Phil mentioned, Wordpress.org is where you will find a lot of the resources, tutorials, and discussion themes around themes, plugins, and the platform itself. But you don't really need to focus on any of these.

Thanks for that Kyle. The reason I was checking is that I have an issue with an error message (missing paramater(s): requests) that comes up when I'm trying to link a home page widget to a page on my website and the support guys think it is theme related and I need to get someone at Wordpress to fix it.

no they don't
here you use the program from wordpress.org..
wordpress.com is a hosting company - like wa...
so here you install wordpress the program onto your domain and host it within the wa platform...
the program wordpress and wordpress.com are two separate things...
it is frustrating that they are named the same and jsut shows that using the same name as another site but a different extension can cause all sorts of confusion - and possible loss of traffic...
if you goto wordpress.org then you will find the list of themes and plugins under the top menu...

Thanks for that feigner.

I'm trying to put a link to a newly published page on my website from an image (which is in a widget). When I set the link up I get the following message, Missing Parameter(s):

Click the Chain link icon
Type or paste the URL to link to
Press Return

Have you searched for trainings and classes? I know Eric has a few on widgets., I think Jay does as well.

Trying to link a page to an image in word press?

I'm trying to add my 'about' page to my site. It's published as a post. I added it to the one menu which I have. Looking at the live site the post shows in the menu bars on al

You may need to empty the browser cache, refresh and try again. Try the URL in a different browser or mobile device.

You can also empty the server's cache.
Websites > Site Manager > Details > Sitespeed > Empty site cache

Hi Abie
This has been really wierd but eventually discovered I only had the problem on the Chrome account (I have more than one) that is my main browser on my laptop, didn't affect the same Chrome account on other devices. I did a reset on Chrome on the laptop which includes clearing the cache and that fixed it.

Thanks

Ken

Awesomely good and congratulations :)

I believe there is a plugin called post type switcher that will change posts to pages

Can you drop us a link to your website, so we can better understand what is going on here and we will be more than happy to help you out here Kenneth. It is just a better easier to assess and make recommendations, if we have the some context.

Thanks! :)

Thanks Kyle, here's the URL, https://buyrentholiday.com/

Hi Kyle

Re my question from a couple of days ago (reproduced below). I don't know if you have had a chance to look at the site, www.buyrentholiday.com, since I sent you the URL but I have now discovered that the problem only seems to be on the Chrome browser on my Windows 11 powered laptop. Chrome browsers on my android powered tablet and mobile phone are showing the menus ok as is my Edge browser on the Windows 11 laptop. The menus were amended to include the 'About' page on the laptop editing Wordpress in Chrome. Any ideas?

regards

Ken McNeil

Hi Kyle. I'm a WA Premium member. Is the version of Wordpress we get the free or pro version?

There is no pro version of wordpress - wordpress is a free open source content management platform.

I think you are referring to the themes you can use on wordpress.

All the themes you have access to are free. With many of those themes having paid pro versions.

Wordpress is free and it is the content management system. It is the software used to build, modify, and maintain websites. It gives you the ability to create, modify your website. it is the foundation - database and structure.

To make wordpress useable and visible Wordpress themes can be chosen. Over 4,000 are free. Those are accessible to you for free in WA. if you choose to go with a Pro theme you pay the fee bug can use it on your website created and designed and hosted by WA . Websites can be quickly built using page builders. Some of those are free and others are not, but if they are Wordpress compatible you can use them on a website hosted by WA. (you pay the fee the the theme owner and then upgrade it on your WA hosted website. Wordpress plugins add additional functionality to Wordpress themes. Thousands of those are free and some have Pro versions. You can pay the fee to the plugin owner and use them 0n your website hosted in WA.

WA is platform designed to training, provide tools and support you are you own your online business website.

Hi - I am not sure what you are asking. WA websites are built on the WordPress platform which is open-source and free. However, that doesn't mean you have an account at either WordPress.com or WordPress.org if that's what you mean.

No, what I mean is that Wordpress has free and pro versions. The pro version has more features. What I want to know is if our WA membership gives us access to the pro version of Wordpress or just the free version.

Are you talking about WordPress themes? With WA, you have access to over 7000 themes, but they will be the free versions.

It is up to the developer if they choose to offer a premium version with more features, but this is not included with your membership. It's your choice if you want to pay to upgrade.

Wordpress is always free
