Its about as clear as mud on how to add the ad sense code to your website. And please if youre going to answer this don't just send me links to the training or the help section

if you install and activate the ad inserter plugin then you will find this under the settings menu in the sidebar of your site...
click on the gear symbol at the end of the numbers...
halfway down click on head...
in the box below this paste in the code
and click on the box with a circle ( the middle turns green)
and click save all
you have now added the verification code...
after a few days adsense will say ' your earnings may be at risk if you don't add your ads.txt file'
so you create one and go back to ad inserter....
click on ads.txt and a box opens at the bottom...
paste the contents from your ads.txt into there
it will fill in the id etc....
and save...( click the green tick)
and make sure you don't just accept the auto ads as it will take over your site...
create your own ad units and place them yourself...using ad inserter......
good luck

clearest most thorough answer yet. Thanks Phil, crystal clear now.

For website dummies like me there is a plug in called Easy Google Adsense. Worked for me, you can add it then disable it after adding all your code.
If I can use it anyone can use it.lol.
Stephen

You described it nicely.

Some themes have a header and/or footer bar available in their settings, so check at your side.

A safe alternative that might work is the Headers and Footers plugin. Try and see if it works. I think you can deactivate it when you are approved.

Hi - before you add the code, take a look at my blog post and make sure you have all the requirements you need. Otherwise, you will be turned down for AdSense.

According to that, yes I am ready.

My affiliate disclosure is a menu item right on my home page. Is this what they are looking for or also in every post with an affiliate link?

You see, when following the training, in order, lesson by lesson, there seems to be an omittance of the ever so important detail of having this disclosure on your site and how its to be used. I only stumbled across it while looking at classes and found a class with xxxxxx (I cant rmbr his name, not Kyle tho) so I watched it and went from there.

But even after that class it wasnt very clear if just having it on the home page was acceptable enough. By time I discovered this info I had written 18 or 19 posts, now only maybe 10 of those had affiliate links but I wasnt going back thru them all to add the disclosure to every single post and link if it wasnt necessary. It was a question I just hadn't clarified yet.

So as it stands my affiliate disclosure is only on my home page. Hope this is suffice in terms of adsense acceptance.

Hi - yes, having it in your main menu is fine, AdSense will be happy with that.

On a different note though, if you are using Amazon links, you do need their specific wording on every post that has an Amazon affiliate link. Otherwise, you will be removed from their program.

Get back to me on this if you need to. And follow the instructions given by the others on using the Ad Inserter plugin to add your AdSense code.

OK, well, looks as though I will be going through my posts and adding amazon's version. Where can I find its wording? And does it have to be by each link if there is more than one link to amazon in any one post?

Hi - here is the wording - "As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases" and you need to put this directly above the first link, not every link.

Amazon has a lot of very strict rules, in return for giving you the lowest commissions!

When you have met your sales target of 3 sales in your first 180 days, Amazon will inspect your site before they give their final approval. If they find even one example of a rule being broken, they will remove you from their program.

OK, yes I found their "rules" for disclosure. It also said it had to be clear and then gave examples of "#ad", "#paidcommission" and one other one. If I simply put "#ad" above or near the link and then link the "#ad" to a blog post titled Amazon Associates Disclosure and have the phrase "As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases" as the body of the post, is that acceptable?

I also have the post marked as "sticky" so it stays at the very top of the blog roll at all times.

Im trying to eliminate the phrase itself from appearing directly in the post by the link. It looks dumb and out of place and doesn't fit well with the flow of the post(s). I'd rather just a seperate link to the Amazon Associates Disclosure wording.

And funny when you're the largest company in the world by sales volume how you get to make the rules for the people who help sell your products for you. Almost like they're doing you the favour. I call it business arrogance. How bout a "thank you" instead Mr. Bezos?

Hi - which Amazon account are you using? I can't see any reference to being able to use #ad in the US Amazon.com operating agreement.

Typically, the hashtag is only used in social media posts, where you may have a limited number of words, and it would not be reasonable to add a full sentence.

I personally don't think it would be acceptable to them. A potential customer needs to see immediately that you will earn a commission from Amazon if they purchase the product. It needs to be visible without them having to click elsewhere.

Whether it looks dumb or not, you have to play by their rules. If you take a look at other affiliate marketing sites, they use the wording as required.

And no mention of the price, or using their star ratings or reviews and no copying and pasting images or allowing friends and family to buy through your links.

Amazon is not particularly friendly to its affiliates and has reduced its commission levels several times over the last few years.

Starting to wonder if they are worth all the trouble. My niche is one where these items can be very easily found elsewhere. By no means are they exclusive to amazon. My links are pictures, usually with a caption. Throwing in a disclosure when the reader doesn't give a shit about it in the first place I'm thinking would not be well received. Thanks Diane for the help, and the dirt on Amazon, I had no idea they'd be that anal about things especially when I'm tossing them a sale or two. I guess they can be when they don't really "need" affiliate help. But I will say this, the golden rule applies at all times no matter where a person or company lies in the pecking order. I'll probably take your advice and play by the rules but if I think its detrimental to my site and/or to my readers down the road, I certainly won't be rolling over just cause Amazon holds all the cards. I have other options.

You can use the Ad Inserter plugin, as you do not want to edit your themes files directly as you will lose your changes when the theme updates or if you change your theme.

Hi everyone, looking for some design help on my site. On my homepage my site title is also a link, when you hover over its name it changes colour and when you click on it it ju

Remember that as you grow out and build your website, filling it with posts and content, your audience many times will find themself inside one of your blog posts wanting to get back to the home page. Clicking on the title would do that for them and that's where your audience would expect it to take them.

So keep that link as is and just create a new menu item for "Blog" to take them to the blog :)

Good web design says you want your homepage site title to click only to itself. Leave it the way it is.

Have you created a menu yet for navigation to your posts.

You title at top should get you back to home.

You can go to settings > reading and change your blog to a static page provided you have created it, then you create another empty page and call it blog, attach it to your menu.

So your Posts page is your empty blog page.

All blog roll posts would be listed under your blog page.

A screenshot would also be handy.
