I've been here for a while now, and I've forgotten what google search or whatever it was that lead me to WA.

I'd be super interested to hear from the newbies here - how

How this nurse got here...
I joined WA in 2014, shortly after I lost my mom. Rest Her Soul In Peace.
I think I found WA through Empowered Network. It was a tough time for me, so I do not exactly remember. I found inspiration from WA, Vickie Milazzo and The Nerdy Nurse to keep my chin up.

I am a newby in the regard that I just rejoined the team the end of last year. New web site, too:)
I enjoyed your blog post, thank you!

You know, I have no idea who my sponsor is. I responded to something online, and here I am.

Hi Karina, I decided to check out WA due to an e-mail I got. Glad I joined them.

Not a newbie, but found it thropugh IBO Toolbox

I remembered joining Legendary Marketer one week and was not getting a good vibe from their trainer/recruiter/salesman. It felt more like a scam not a business focused on my development process. That being said, i decided to do some more research on line and on You Tube and came across a WA promo and the rest is history and I quit Legendary immediately, with no regrets.

Felt the same way GR.

I found wealthy affiliate awhile ago through a google search. I had found both legendary marketer and wealthy affiliate. Then I was looking for reviews on google to make a decision. Then I saw a lengthy review about legendary marketer by Jerry Huang and then I remembered I had started an account with wealthy affiliate. Basically, I watched his video and then went to wealthy affiliate.

I was doing general Google research about something new I learned called affiliate sales. I was intrigued but most of what I was finding was piece meal info and no real training on the subject unless I wanted to buy into a program or ebook. I came across WA initially thinking it was 'too good to be true' and did further research to see if they were really legit, and was pleasantly surprised to find they were! I did all the free training only to get hooked and here I am, a little over a year later, still learning something new everyday. I'd probably still be banging my head on my desk trying to figure out the in's & out's of affiliating if it weren't for WA!

Hmm.. Not sure.

Hi Karina,
I remember reading a review about something on a christian blog when an advert popped up that says, "Do you want to make money online through Amazon?" or something on that line. I clicked and it lead me to WA and I never looked back.

Brilliant! thank you so much - love that the two responses so far are so completely different :)

Hi Karina,

I was searching on google, not sure about the exact term, - something in this manner:
"How to create simple website"

I ended up at Nathaniel`s site "one more cup of coffee"

I was transferred from his site to WA site for sign up.
I did not want to.

Then month later, I said to myself, that I give it a try. So I signed up for month. Then Black Friday came by, and I paid for yearly membership.
Here I am more than an year later :)

Have a good one
Mike

HI Mike,

Thanks so much for sharing - I really appreciate it :)
And thanks for your honesty too!!

cheers

Hi guys,

For those with AdSense on your site, just wondering how long it took for it to get approved after you'd pasted the code to your site and followed the prompts?</

I've also been waiting for 2 weeks now

"We’ve found some policy violations on your site which means that your site isn’t ready to show ads yet." I received that from adsense. How will I know what they mean? It is not like they specify.

Believe it or not, it can be something as simple not having an obvious privacy policy or contact us page. Or having mature content or references to tobacco. I wouldn't worry about it for the little amount of money it brings in. And do you really want adverts randomly cluttering up your articles?

That makes plenty of sense and cents.....I remembered in one of the lessons mentioned that the ROI is relatively small compared to standard SEO organic traffic....Thanks for the reminder.

Well everyone, I was advised yesterday that I wasn’t accepted for Adsense 🤔. When querying the reasons why (as I believe I tick all the boxes required) on their customer forum, I got this response:
“Adsense tends to stay away from "making money online" type sites so even though you may meet their basic requirements it's highly unlikely that you will ever get that type of site approved. The vast majority of applications are rejected so it's not just that type of site that is routinely rejected & the bar to get acceptance ion any subject s now rather high & much higher than the guidelines indicate.”

Ah well, upwards and onwards!

It took me a couple of days (about 3) but I decided not to use them on any of my websites because I didn't like how AdSense stole possible affiliate referrals which paid me far more. Plus didn't like how it made my sites look like they were created for advertisement space.

Hi, its just a matter of using the specific type. Im planning to use it on the no - affiliate posts

Just remember that if you have affiliate banners in your sidebar or footer, they will also be visible on your non-affiliate post. So placing AdSense in only non-affiliate posts can potentially steal possible sales from those affiliate banners. Just something to think about.

Thanks for the advice. I am not a fan of banners so I am only using ads in posts itself and don't do banners in footer od sidebar

It used to take only 3-4 days for Google to get back to you with a decision to either approve or reject your applications. Occasionally, if it's been going to weeks or months that you've submitted but didn't hear from them, then make sure you reach Google about this.

Do you have any link when you can do so?

Yes, you can follow the page below to get in touch with Google.

https://www.google.com/contact/

If memory serves, mine came pretty quickly.

It was approximately three weeks before I received a response, and was rejected. You are unlikely to be accepted unless you have at least 50 articles and your website has been established for six months. In the end, I am happy with their decision; my site is far too pretty to be cluttered up with random advertisements!

i was told Google do not approve the Google Adsense easily nowadays, i have been waiting for mine to be approve for more than a month already

Thats right, but in a different way. It's hard to get approved however the situation is that they are not even looking at it.

too many people applied for the account? or they are trying to filter out the fake account?

I dont think so. They usually approve it within 48 hrs. I think there is something going on on their side and it has nothing to do with us.

I mean too many people have been applying every day before and yet they still managed to approve it within the timeframe. So this shouldnt affect it.

I have the same issue. It's been a couple of weeks and nothing.

oh ok, somehow this makes me feel a bit better ;-)
Glad I'm not the only one, but I'm keen to try it sooner rather than later :)

I have an approved account already for one website. I have decided to add another website for AdSense before Christmas and got rejected a few times as I had added the code wrongly.

Now, the thing is I am facing the same situation as you are. I suspect that something is wrong on their side. I have also submitted the feedback, but haven't heard anything.

Let me know if you have any updates.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have also submitted the feedback, but heard nothing.
I believe I've added the code in the right place (I followed some training on here), but can't be 100% sure ;-)

Happy New Year guys! :)

A lot of my posts are ranking well (or not so well) in Google, yet a few posts that I'd expected to rank well aren't ranking at all...and so I tho

On Pages where i have more than 3 or 4 links, I have been ticking the nofollow box, when I am doing the final edit before publishing .
So when the google robot or bing or whoever reads it, the robot just reads the content without checking the links and their content.

I am not sure if this has any effect but it might be worth thinking about.

Very interesting, never thought of that before. Will have to brush up on my 'nofollow' skills

thank you :)

cheers
Karina

QSR stands for "Quoted Search Results". The keyword here is "Quoted". Put the search term into quote marks and ask Google using an incognito window and your post appears on the first page. The problem here is that most people don't use quote marks when they're searching.

Just keep doing what you're doing and eventually, Google will recognize your efforts.

Another good tip, Marion.

Ahh Marion, that makes so much sense!! Can't believe I've never even considered this as the reason (duh....) Thank you so much Marion, that just explains my brain twisting on the matter in one single word.

On another note, I can see that Google isn't using the Meta description I have in the post, any idea as to why?

answering my own question, I'll try to do another 'fecth as google' and ask for it to be indexed again (just in case i hadn't changed the meta description at time of indexing)....maybe that'll fix it?

If you write a great excerpt that you'd like to see in the SERPs, consider using it as your opening paragraph.

Google has a mind of its own when it comes to showing excerpts. It finds words from the keyword phrase used by the searcher and highlights them in bold. It seems to ignore the excerpts we write ourselves.

Thanks for clarifying Marion, most helpful :)
