Feeling a bit lost

The happiest people don’t necessarily have the best of everything but they make the most of everything. ~ Sam Cawthron

Okay, I have to admit I am feeling a bit lost today. Why? Because my cell phone quit working.

Honestly, I rely too much on my cell phone because everything is on there. My calendar, my notes, everything. My contacts. My photos. Story ideas. Beginnings of blog posts. EVERYTHING!

I am not sure what I am going to do. I thought about throwing it into the garbage can, but I still feel like I can salvage it. I use it for everything. I use it for a camera, for a recorder, for a planner. And now it appears all of that is gone! I am sure hoping that the cloud still has my info so I can retrieve it!

I'm going to make the most of this, although I am not sure how right now! I can't let this get me down, although, admittedly, I am feeling a bit down about this, too.

But I honestly will try to make the most of it until I can get this figured out.

But now, I am on my way to a meeting, so I am hoping I can take good notes since I won't be able to record it!

Moral of the story: Never put all of your info on a single device!!!

Best wishes,

Karin :) <---- Still smiling

Not a good challenge, but I'm sure you will figure out a way around the problem.

Can the phone company perhaps retrieve your info and put it on a new phone?

I hope not! I'd hate to think that the phone companies could pull all of the data out of my phone... Wow, scary thought!

you alwaysbhave to keep your head up. hopefully the company you go through can retrieve most of everything. i keep most of my things on my laptop but im a photographer so laptop is necessary, but the pics and calendars i have on my phone. if u have 1 you could probably plug it i to ur laptop and retrieve everything from there. i do that every once in a while to keep my phone from crashing too and anything you have in ur cloud should still b there, thats why its a cloud so when something like this happens you can still retrieve it. i know you feel down now but you have to look at the positive, at least you can unplug for a while and try to get your mind in the right way u til it hets fixed...Best of luck to you

Gosh, we remember well when the phone was something on the wall or a nightstand. It is amazing how much things have changed. So much of our lives are on it now.
Sorry, this happened to you. We feel nauseous when we can't find ours. So weird.
Hope you get this sorted out soon.

Hi Karin, So sorry to hear your phone isn't working - I hope it will be easy for you to transfer all of your data if you need to get a new phone.

This is a great reminder to make sure our phone data is backed up (or is being backed up continually to the cloud as you mentioned).

For saving notes for blog posts and stories, have you tried Evernote? You can save to your phone, to your laptop, other devices, and each device will be synched/updated to evernote on your other devices whenever you change/add new notes. I save photos, ideas, blog post ideas, everything and then it's all easily searchable and findable, and it's stored in the cloud. There is a free version that works great.

Sorry to hear about your phone Karin.

Unless something severe has happened to your phone, it's very likely that it's repairable.

To help you out better, I need to get an idea of what happened.
- Did you accidentally drop it?
- Did it just suddenly shutdown?

If you dropped it, chances that it's repairable, or at least possible to salvage whats necessary to restore your data on that phone on a different phone or copy to a computer.

If it suddenly just shutdown, it's possible the battery is in bad condition, or that it's just just out of power and is having a technical problem turning on. Some devices when they shutdown due to losing power, they sometimes have technical issues turning on again and you need to use special boot command - which is pressing several buttons at once for a while or holding the power button for more than 30 seconds.

If something else happened, please do elaborate.

Don't throw it away, hopefully everything can be transferred over to a new one.

Sorry don’t know what to say. Is the phone repairable? If you have been backing up to the cloud automatically then your info should be fine. Can you rent a device to check this (not sure what you would want to do until you know the status of your phone). Hind site is a wonderful thing and we all learn lessons this way. Once clear of the immediate feelings of anguish i am sure you will get to an improved situation where this can’t happen again.

What happened? Do you know where the meeting is or what time it start?

Hopefully you did daily backups of your data to the cloud that will ease the pain

🤣 came straight over when I read your heading.. hoping to help..🤣 wanted to offer support.. sorry about your phone.. ☺️
