I know its against the rules to self promote your site within WA however is it alright to ask for a friends site url in pm or give your site url in pm if asked for it? If this

Hi Justin

If you haven't seen the rules, here they are.

Spam no-no
How to avoid spamming at WA Hope it helps!

Thank you for sending those links.

You're not promoting if you are using the Give and Take approach. The idea is to help each other. But I think they mean sending people to your site to buy things from your affiliate site.

Yea i didnt think it was a problem or a rule break either jist felt better to be safe then sorry.

Q - I know its against the rules to self promote your site within WA however is it alright to ask for a friends site url in pm or give your site url in pm if asked for it?

A - Why not? I cannot see what rules you are breaking. If someone requests your site URL by PM I cannot see how you are breaking any rules. And requesting another member's URL by PM should also not constitute a rule break.

For example, if you are selling guitars, and your price and service for the guitar I want is around the same as the market's then I would much prefer to ask you for your URL and shop through your website because you are a WA member who I want to support.

You have me thinking now about a shopping directory. Would a directory work in WA or would it cause too many problems, hmmm, I wonder???

That would be a cool area to visit to help support everyone here sense we would ultimatly be purchasing the products anyway. Also it may cause problems if everyone is alloud to just randomly send what they have forsale however if kyle or carson made the shopping dirrectory and alloud you to insert your site url (1 per url) under a catagory like the comments and feedback have then make it against the rules to request people view your catagory/site for a purchase, then that may fix that problem.

To be totally within the rules - you should just post your URL in the 'follow me on' section of your profile. Your friends can do the same, no need for a PM. If people don't choose to share their sites on their profiles, then that is their preference and you shouldn't bug them for it.

Where is this follow me on section?

On the lower right-hand corner - underneath your listing of blog posts.

Thank you

As a follow-up. I don’t believe you can see member’s follow me on entries unless you’re following them.

thank you and to be honest I didn't even know it had the follow me section so didn't know to look there

Any time
