Thanks AbieAJ, I was just fed up & a bit low. Deep down I knew the answer, I guess I just wanted to hear it from someone else. I know that the articles did work & some still rank in position 1 on Yahoo & Bing. So I'll keep on trucking & wait for Google to sort itself out.
Cheers, Duncan.
The answer is to keep posting quality content :) Your posts ranked because you did things right, so keep going forward. The bottom line is that google wants to serve up the best possible content for its searches. So if your website had some issues and rankings went away, now that you’ve fixed those issues keep going forward creating quality content, don’t get lost in the analytics, and you’ll be back ranking soon enough.
Hey Duncan,
Don't be too quick to "toss in the towel" just yet. Google did an update to their algorithms again... see screen print below...
Strong and steady will win the race every time.
It's been said that Google "stirs up the pot" every once in a while to see who jumps at the changes. If/when major changes get made to sites who lose rankings, then those sites are slower to return to where they once were.
Something about their "blanket method" for dealing with those who use black hat tactics to gain rankings in search results.
I'm not saying that you were using black hat tactics. What I am saying is that your site sounds to have been grouped (unfairly, yes) with others in this latest rollout of changes.
In another month or so, your site could return to the same rank. So, you may find patience is needed. Keep on offering helpful advice, and share that content on social media.
Hope you find this helpful.

I'm curious what the problem was that you eventually fixed. Unless it was catastrophic and left for a long time, it may not have been the cause of your rankings drop.
It may have been an algo update. Was there anything on the pages that could have caused the drop, like excessive affiliate links, or did you build links to the pages?
If you previously had rankings, then lost them, have you tried to make some updates on the page, i.e. refreshing the content and doing some new social media shares to notify Google of the updates?
Hi Nathaniell,
The site is a bit seasonal, so in March/April the numbers started going back up to normal. Then there was an upgrade to the website I was using on Wordpress & so unfortunately I took it. The rolling pictures on the homepage now changed in size, but I wasn't that bothered as people searched & got to the individual articles & not really the homepage, which I remember you touching on in a video or blog. The articles remained good & static on mobile , so no problem. Then the traffic started to drop a bit & then massively. When I eventually got google console to grant me access, it showed that the site was picked up by google because the mobile experience for the customer was compromised, because the article headings & snippets moved up & down, when looking at the homepage. I corrected the homepage & added a new sitemap. Google responded that everything is now all good, but the rankings have not recovered at all.
I live in hope. Some of the articles remain intheir no1 spot in Yahoo & Bing , but the traffic has taken a massive hit.
So I guess I have to patient & keep on trucking.
Cheers, Duncan.
P.S. Thanks for commenting, means a lot.
So the image thing wouldn't have affected SEO, at least I doubt it. A few small mobile issues in Search Console wouldn't have either. PS, if the image thing isn't fixed yet, you can usually fix the "too big image after update" thing by using a "regenerate images" plugin.
With lost rankings like that, and the timing, I think it might have been the May algorithm update. Did these pages have a lot of affiliate links?
If not, one thing you can do is to check out what competition is ranking now. What are they doing different? What ideas can you borrow and riff on? What can you do to improve your own pages to match what Google is looking for?
Have a look at these 2 - https://beststeeringwheellock.com/best-wheel-clamps-for-motorhomes-guide
https://laidbackleisure.co.uk/best-wheel-clamps-for-motorhomes/
The first is google 1st page the 2nd ( that was first page) you can no longer find on google search. This post was uploaded by Bulldog.com & sat just below them, now it's gone & I don't know why ?
I'm using social media to promote the posts & today someone thanked me for the article & bought a wheel clamp from the page.
I don't want to start changing everything out, incase it makes things worse.
Keep adding content & wait & see I quess ?
Cheers, Duncan.
OK, so good news and good news IMO.
The first good news is that the post that is currently ranking isn't anything crazy magnificent in terms of quality or uniqueness, so it's definitely something you can compete with.
The second good news is that there's plenty you can improve about your own page without changing too much about it.
Some opportunities to improve your post:
1. stop using bright blue and red for headings. this looks very low-quality design-wise IMO. Just black and grey is fine.
2. use some better organization. I'm not sure that having a section with ten videos is the perfect way to organize the post. I think it would be better to have a section about each type of wheel clamp, e.g. H2 with "Types of Wheel Clamps", then H3 for each type (Claw, 3-arm), with a video explainer of each type. Or perhaps you want to organize my manufacturer.
3. Since the post is long, a table of contents plugin would help (I use Easy Table of Contents)
4. There's tons of extra white space under your headings. I'm not sure if this is a theme design or you are double spacing, but it's a little hard to read.
5. lots of text saying "click the link below"
I'm sure there's more, but those can get you started. The main thing to focus on for this page, and other pages if you have similar setups is, "How can I make this easier for the reader to digest and make a choice on what to buy".
My suspicion is that your de-ranking is due to the recent algo updates and if you make some improvements to the page and continue to create content (plus update other pages on your site to improve them as well) that your rankings will come back. YOu have a solid foundation to start with!
I'd be less analysis paralysis and keep creating succinct original content and sharing onward social media platforms.

How do you move a domain off wealthy affiliate & onto a different hosting company ?
You can certainly transfer your domains out of WA if you want, but do know that you can still manage your domains here at WA (without being Premium). This way you don't have to transfer your domains elsewhere, which can be a cumbersome process.
You can manage all of your domains within the SiteDomains platform:
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/domains
However, if you want to transfer your domain, you need to unlock your domain and have the EPP Transfer Code emailed, perform the following actions from your SiteDomains page here:
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/domains
1 - Click on "Settings" next to your domain that you wish to transfer away from our SiteDomains platform here at WA.
2 - Choose "Transfer Domain" from the drop down menu
3 - Turn Privacy OFF for the Domain.
4 - Turn Registration Lock OFF, and then click the button that says "Email EPP Code"
That's all you need to do! Check the email that you registered the domain with, then use the EPP Transfer Code to initiate the domain transfer at your new registrar.
I hope this helps you out here, do let me know if you have any further questions.
To transfer a Domain name it will depend upon the registrar that you want to transfer it to. Find out what their transfer instructions are. Be prepared to pay another registration fee because I believe it is part of transferring a domain name.
Hi
After backing up, ou can use the AIO WP Migration or Updraft plugins. UpdraftPlus is a premium and highly recommended

Hey Duncan,
Be sure to BACKUP your entire site FIRST, then contact the support staff from wherever you are moving your site to... and have them issue you your instructions. Do Your Own Website Backup That is the SAFEST way.
Hope you find this helpful.

Hey Duncan,
It may need you to be signed into Twitter too perhaps. See if that works. Personally, I sign directly into my Twitter account and only RT those in my newsfeed on Twitter.
Hope you find this helpful.
Thanks Triblu, but no it's still not working. It's so frustrating, it used to take miutes to check out 40 alerts & tweet them. Now every alert that I want to retweet has to be fully opened, scrolled through to get to the twitter share button.
Cheers,
Duncan.
Wonder if Twitter changed their rules...
Have you Google searched to see if you can discover if others are experiencing the same issue? Maybe someone has already found a work around.
You will need to Google search the EXACT prompt you receive.

Can you create a call to action "Amazon logo" place it on a post & add an Amazon link to it ?
or is using the Amazon logo against their rules even though you are
Hey Duncan,
Seeing as you have already received an answer to your question, all I can offer you in the way of advice is perhaps the following training: How To PIn Amazon Affiliate Product Images - The Right Way Hope you find this helpful.
No, you do not ever want to use the Amazon logo.
You can use the word Amazon itself, but never their logo.
I promote several of the Amazon products, and use the word Amazon for every one of them. I simply highlight the word following the text descriptions of products.
As far as descriptions of the products found on Amazon pages, they will also ban you if you simply copy descriptions, word for word, from their pages.
I have learned to compose my own descriptions, which may include some similar or exact words, but the descriptions are not verbatim from the pages of Amazon. It is a time-consuming effort and I am not sure it will pay off in the long run, but that is what I have to accept from Amazon and other affiliate programs.
I have also contacted support people from other affiliates and they pretty much run their programs in the same manner. They will accept well-composed descriptions of products, but they will never allow the affiliates to simply copy text from an advertiser's website to incorporate into their own websites.

Thanks Eric,
I have had a look & am using "text + image" to generate the amazon links.
Thanks for your advise, it's always very much appreciated.
Cheers,
Duncan.
