Free logos, images and image editors online

So it seems most newbies like myself ask this question about where to get free images online without worrying about copyright issues. I will keep this post short and sweet and not go into great detail, as there is no need for great detail on this.

Here is a short list of the few resources (websites) that I often use for sourcing my images, editing imagesimages and also creating logos, all of which are free, no credit cards or PayPal required unless of course you would like to buy a premium image from that same source. Without further ado, here goes!

Pixabay.com - my personal favourite for photos and vectors (double check that you have full usage rights and not just limited usage rights), it always tells you under the image before you click on download. You can also choose a specific size from small to large, remember large images may take a long time to load in when visitors come to your site. Keep them small enough in terms of kilobytes and megabytes, think about those visitors on mobile devices with data plans and they will appreciate that. Always make sure those pictures have the following info printed on the page as seen below.

License: CC0 Public Domain / FAQFree for commercial use / No attribution required

My next favourite is Canva.com - this is an image editor where you can edit that image you just got from pixabay (if you need to edit it). NOTE: Some images in canva must be paid for, they are the premium images but you will find that you will never have to use them - they cost a dollar each, so if there is an image you really must have then you will have to pay that dollar. I find this absolutely unnecessary because there are sooooo many free images floating around on the web, why pay?

For my free logos I love to use 2 sites, they are cooltext.com and coollogo.com

These two sites are easy to use and u can play around with them for hours if you want to. Here is a header image that took me less than a minute to create from pixabay and canva, they really are simple to use!

Since writing this blog I have discovered two more things.

1. Tinypng.com - This site takes your pics and shrinks them (in memory terms that is, for example from 1 megabyte down to half a megabyte - Very handy to keep your image file size down so your site loads up quicker in visitor's browsers.

2. Either Cooltext.com or Coollogo.com (i really can't remember) has a small watermark embedded on your logo, I didn't notice this before today - apologies, find out which one it is for yourself and then scrub that site from your memory! Nobody wants watermarks in their images.

All the best in your hunt for free images!

James

P.S. Do of course use google to search for other similar websites and tools, there is a wealth of free stuff on the web.

Please do go right ahead and add some more image, logo sources to the comments - I prefer the ones that don't ask for credit card details to get a free account. I also prefer the ones that are not just free trial.

Also what would be nice is if you could also add some free THEMES for wordpress that you highly recommend?

Update: There's an even better way to get free images. Why go to just one site when you can find every single free image on the internet just by searching for them in google. What you got to do is FILTER the search results to show only the copyright free stuff. The way with pixabay is far too limited (pixabay has about 500,000 images you can tap into.

However, how many images are on ALL of the internet? probably about a million times more than just on pixabay - I daren't really guess that number.

All Hail WA!

Thanks for Sharing James. I had been using Bing. As much as I dislike it it was getting me images. It is nice to have sources for logos as well. Thanks again.

Hi James,

Great list!

For editing pictures, making collages, YouTube channel art, twitter backgrounds, Facebook backgrounds and more, I like to use picmonkey.com

Thanks for the resources :)

thanks for the addition of picmonkey, checking it out now!

Many thanks for the resources, James! I happen to be gathering images for my website as we speak, so timing is perfect as well.

Good resources thank you there is also morguefile.com for lots of free images

Thanks James, alway interested in FREE :)
Who is the little one on your profile picture and why hospitalized

Oh its a long story but u can find it on my blog! He is okay now, that picture was taken at a week or two old when he was born at 26 weeks. He will be about 900 trams in this picture. He is 12 or 13 kilos now, and four years old soon.
Thanks

You simply can't remember all profile stories, glad this is in the past:)

Can u do a quick look at my site Loes?

Me too! Now if I could just fix my bad back once and for all there will be no stopping me!

900 trams? Damn u autocorrect! Lol

I was on your site but there is not much to be found there, all 404, pages do not exist, and the permalinks are numbers
this is the permalink from your about me page http://affiliatemarketingtipstoday.com/page_id=54
with a ? value before page

What's going wrong?

ah that's probably cos i have been using my new site and transferred it to Wa. it is a dot com from namecheap. After transferring, I deemed the blogs to be too short at a few hundred words each, so have them resaved as drafts - that will be the 404. I will publish one at a time just need to get one at a time done - minimum 1000 words with images, then i will click on that all important publish button
Site isn't even indexed by google yet (it was when it was siterubix - cos those posts were published)

The same might be true of my pages, never mind, it's coming along better than I thought, just that content needs to be filled out.

onwards and upwards!

Take it Easy!

That is very useful information. I'll be keeping it in mind. :)

P.S. I am sure there are hundreds more of these kinds of sites for free, get on google and hunt them down!

Those are great leads and you are a great networker for sharing!

Thanks for this James, these will come in handy.
Cheers

Appreciate the help.
Thanks much.
