What’s up with the new Google Chrome Browser?
Google made an update to its UI as early as Tuesday, but it just hit me today.
I Hate It!
I soon found out in forums there are a legion of other Chrome users who share my opinion.
Could I be imagining this only?
Not only do I hate the new look and layout of their new Chrome UI, it has completely slowed my computer down!
I cleared everything in the cache, and it is STILL running slow!
I would rather stick with Chrome, as this is the browser that I am used to.
Can anyone help me with any additional suggestions?
Google Chrome Classic?
Since I could not stand the new look and layout of the new browser, I did a Google search and found a way to restore it back to the old Chrome design as it looked yesterday.
Here are the steps:
- In the address bar, type in chrome: //flags
- Scroll down and search for UI Layout for the browser’s top chrome.
- In the drop down menu to the right of this entry, switch it from Default to NORMAL
- Restart your browser by clicking RELAUNCH NOW
Except after following these 4 steps and relaunching Chrome, it STILL looked the same!
And it’s somehow still running slower.
Does anyone have any additional suggestion of how I can make the new Chrome browser load faster?
(*Note: I don’t see why the new browser UI should have anything to do with the load speed, but this is certainly my observation of what I am seeing)

I haven't gone through it all just yet, but its fired up my loading speed. So from that aspect, I like it.
Glad for you, but unfortunately myself and several others are experiencing slow load times:(

OMG! And there’s me thinking it was just me!! It does indeed look awful and now I know why my browser is running like dial up!!!

I noticed the same thing today with my chrome glad you brought it up. may have to switch to IE again
I do have Firefox and would agree IE is not doable, I like FF I do have it installed on my laptop I will look into it
Woe, Thanks for acknowledging this Derek, I thought the slow speeds were only due to my computer, but I see there are many more who are complaining.
Big goof up, hope they fix it. This new Google UI is truly BAD.
Hi Kaju:). It just hit me today, as well. I don't mind the way it looks, but it is definitely making my laptop go soooo much slower:(
Thanks for researching a way to change back to the old Chrome:) I may have to switch back if things don't pick up.

Me too Suzzi, I like the way it looks, BUT like you, it's slowing my computer down! Help! (Lol!)
Well, I have noticed it is running slightly LESS SLOW now, but it still isn;t the same speed it was yesterday:(
Thanks for validating me here, Suzzi. I thought this was only ME or my computer, but apparently many others are experiencing the slower load times in speed also.

That's good to know Suzzi! I hope Google will revert back to the old classic browser and issue an apology like Coke did when it rollled out its worst "upgrade" new Coke in the mid 80's (although I don't see that happening)
LOL I love it, the circles look great, lots of white space, and I haven't noticed any difference at all in load times.
Sorry I'm not much help to you Kaju, maybe it'll grow on you :)
I don't mind the aesthetic, I actually like it - it's the slower load times that is bothering me

I JUST experienced the same thing! It just shut down and when opened it back up it looked different. I wish anyone could ever leave anything alone!
My co-workers and I have been very frustrated with the latest updates to Microsoft Outlook too. It is driving me crazy at work!!!! Every week it is a new problem due to their updates where they think they are smarter than us and know what we want even if it the opposite of what we tell it to do!!

This is horrible, its running SOOO slow now compared to how it was yesterday. I agree, why can't they just leave well enough alone!
I literally couldn't send out the agency review I was working on. I was soooo frustrated. I don't want to hold up a review going to our state Dept of Environmental Conservation, Dept. of Fish and Game, Division of Oil and Gas etc. and potentially hold up the Oil and Gas companies getting water because my stupid email doesn't work!!
I was cursing at my computer all day yesterday (Lol)
Actually that's not even funny. This needs to be fixed by Google!
I can't say the Chrome thing seems to be slowing my computer down, I am just annoyed they keep changing things and annoyed at Microsoft for mucking around so much.
