About HeidiY
Joined February 2018
Having been with WA for almost 12 months now I thought it time I updated my profile to more accurately reflect where I'm at with my online journey.

I started with WA because I want to leave my full-time job and work for myself. I wish to be the captain of my ship and master of my destiny. And I am a lot further down that road than when I started.

I have a niche site dedicated to new horse owners which is my passion. This is my first ever affiliate marketing site, that I built as I worked my way through the Online Certification training. It's got some learning hiccups but it is my pride and joy and I continue to build it out but at a slow pace.

I also have a Bootcamp site to help others like me who want to escape the rat race. I started the second site when I commenced the Bootcamp training, now a little over half way through it, and I am having a lot of fun with it.

I love this community. I've made real friends and lifelong colleagues and without their support I fear I would have given up long ago.

If you are new to affiliate marketing welcome and know you've come to the right place. Everything you need to be successful is right here. Make the most of the opportunities and you will soar to success.

Hi Heidi,
I noticed that you’re following me. Thanks so much for that. I hope and pray for your success here at WA. I’m wondering if we could do each other a favor? Could we possibly exchange a comment on a recent post, on each other’s website? I know time is precious, so I certainly understand if the timing is not the best for you. Anyway, if you’re able, here’s the post I need a comment on: https://howtoloveelementary.com/why-do-i-feel-like-a-child/
Please send me a link to your most recent post and I’ll add a comment for you. A warm thanks to you in advance.

Hi Heidi, thanks for following me and I'm following you now. I can relate to your profile as my role was recently made redundant and now I'm exploring this as well as some consulting. I really want this to work as I love hard work, the creative aspect of this, that I'm learning something new and I can do this from wherever! Good to hear your story :)
Thanks,

Hi Heidi! It's nice to connect with another horse fan! I just read a bit on your blog, it looks lovely! Retraining retired racehorses, what a wonderful thing to do, to help keep them out of the "waste bin", to put it nicely......
I haven't ridden in decades, but we have several horses and a mule here, and a pony. The grandkids are happy campers!
I'm enjoying your posts on WA, very informative, thank you!
All the best,

Hi There…
Thanks so much for following me… I’m new to the internet marketing concept… and it sounds like a winner.
I am particularly interested in the “community concept” which allows us to interact with and teach each other.
Good vibes there.
I am recently retired from a 30 year career in the real estate industry and am seeking a new money making position in the 21st century.
I think this is probably what I’m looking for…
I spent my first 20 years growing up in Los Angeles… My next 20 years rearing my family in San Francisco…and my last 20 years
appraising property in Portland, Oregon. Yeah… I seem to keep moving north.
Any info that you can provide to a Newbie will be greatly appreciated.
Please stay in touch and be certain that I will value your opinion.
Luv Ya..Chris

Hello Heidi, thanks for the follow and I am now following you back.

I am interested in how the management of two sites is going. I may need to pick your brain later when I am ready to move my wife’s pet sitting website to WA. Your insight would be valuable to me.

I wish you the best!

Hi Bob

Personally I wish I had never started a second site, obviously, it is double the work but more than that I find myself heavily working on my Bootcamp site as I believe it has the most potential, and the niche site gets left for many weeks without content.

Had I just concentrated on the one site I believe I would be far better off. By putting all my efforts (and blog posts) into one site it would be far more advanced than both of them are.

Having said that it sounds like your second site (wife's site) would be a local SEO site and not require constant addition of content to have it work just fine.
Reply
BobMargroff Premium
You are correct...it will be local SEO. It’ll have updates that she will have me do periodically.

One thing I do want to add is a blog so that pet information can be shared to her subscribers. I may put a few affiliate links on it for maybe Petco or some other pet supply website...I have a few in mind...but that will be down the road, like by the end of the year.

Not certain at the moment...but I have until the end of June to transfer it from iPage to WA.

Top forty in a year you are a shining star and someone who I feel fortunate to have in my network.

A goal of mine is to make enough money so I can have a horse property where I would provide not-for-profit therapeutic horse riding camps and a rescue sanctuary.
I really like your idea for new horse owners niche and wish you continued success in all that you do.

Love your goal John-Peter. I have re-trained one off the track pacer so far and just started on re-training an off the track thoroughbred. I firmly believe all horses deserve a second chance at life and a rescue sanctuary could do just that.

Please let me know if you need any help at all, I am more than happy to help where I can.

Hi Jorgen ahh starting a new site is such an exciting time, I wish you all the best with it.

My strongest advice is to follow the training and do each task as it is presented. This builds out your site the right way, first time and saves a lot of backtracking and headaches in the long run.

My eye caught the equine profile pic of you a while ago, as have a great love of horses myself and was a long term horse owner until I had health issues that forced me to give up horse ownership. Any way, i'm sorry as i meant to respond then but have been a little overwhelmed in the initial stages of joining WA.
But i do look forward to following you and wish you every success.

Heidi,

We share the same passion... Horses! I would love to check out your site and read some content. One of the biggest challenges I'm concerned about is monetizing an Equine related website so I would love to see how you're managing that.

Here is the url to my site if you care to look it over and give me some feedback that would be great!

Hi Joe apologies for the late reply but I wanted some time to check out your site before responding.

Love, love, love it :)

It looks like we are on the same page when it comes to how we train our horses. Although I expect I have had much less experience than you, I've only been back into horses for 5 years (rode as a child many eons ago).

I think you have the premise of your site correct. It isn't too broad, which I now know mine is. The link is on the right hand side under Follow Me but is: https://myhorsehandbook.com/

I am monetising primarily through product reviews of the things I use and like. I have found Best of Posts to convert the best. I have a Best Body Protectors of 2019 and Best Riding Helmets of 2019 posts and they both rank and convert to sales.

I have put this site pretty much on the back burner as I am concentrating on my Bootcamp site at the moment. So My Horse Handbook is not getting much content and I expect may suffer in the ranking shortly because of it.

Anyhoo welcome to WA, it's great to have another horse person to bounce ideas off. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you need a hand, I will happily help where I can.

Kind regards
Heidi

Heidi,

Thanks for the encouragement! Your site is amazing and definitely something to aspire too. You have a great base of content and it is done well.

You also have done a great job in your approach to monetizing your site. You have the links sprinkled in throughout your content but it never comes across as high pressure sales, well done!

I have just received my first responses from affiliates so I will be trying to complete level three now that I have them. We do not have access to Amazon in the state I live in so I am having to try and get affiliates through other programs and it seems to take them a long time to respond.

I hope the training addresses how to place vendor links in the sidebar of our sites, I have been accepted to the affiliate program for Horse.com and it shows some real potential but it seems that their links are more general and drive traffic to their site more so than specific products so I thought in their case it would be beneficial to have their image/link posted in the sidebar, but haven't figured that out yet.

Anyways, enjoyed meeting you here at WA and look forward to working with you in the future. Wish you success with your boot camp training.

Hi. Heidi.
Paul Mindra here from Ontario, Canada.

Thank you for inviting me to be a part of your network. I graciously accept by following you back.

Welcome to The Wealthy Affiliate community. I am very pleased to make your acquaintance.

The term 'DINK' is not as used nowadays as what is was in the past. I remember the years between 1975 and 1995 when it was a common term.

I think it is going to come back. Too many people are struggling to make ends meet and the addition of children into the mix may or may not be a chosen decision by many. Kind of sad.

I'm sure that your furry friends hold you to as much if not more responsibility than most kids.I'm not being negative in any way.
If I could have afforded a horse for my son and our family while he was growing up would probably have led to direction in all of our lives now that would be different. All things worked out though. Choice is the name of the game.

I look forward to sharing, learning and serving with you as we all move forward here.

Kindest regards,

Paul.

Hi Heidi,

I was having trouble with my niche, but the members here have been so helpful. I would like to run my idea past you and get your opinion since you went broad with your niche as well. Here is my idea. Instead of blogging content about everything, I focused it on making the old new again. From what I understand I can create affiliate relationships with specific stores like Amazon or Walmart, or with products like Minwax, or Black and Decker. So my thought is say I do a blog post about building a butcher block countertop over the top of my old laminate topped island. Couldn't I incorporate a link for example to Home Depot for everything from the safety goggles, to the saws, the sanders, the stain, the sealer and even the oil used for upkeep? Then the next blog is on a refurbished dresser, and I do affiliate links for the sandpaper, to the paint I used? Am I on the right track here???
Reply
HeidiY Premium
I think repurposing is a great niche. Making old new again I would have thought is quite fashionable and people will need/expect to spend money, which is of course why we are doing what we do.

As long as the blogs focus is on helping people achieve what they are looking for - so say someone Googles "repurposing my kitchen bench top" they find your site and your blog needs to help them achieve this.

So your niche is people who want to upcycle and repurpose.

I am no expert but I think it's perfect :)

Hello Heidi

Congratulations on going Premium.

I just wanted to say that while there is much value to be had here at Wealthy Affiliate, it can sometimes seem very overwhelming, with everything that has to be done.

My advice from experience is to focus totally on one of the training directions, the green certification OR the Bootcamp, and to stick with that until you have finished it.

Wishing you every success with your business.

I hope things are going well. I know you are getting rolling within the training and there is ONE thing that always tends to confuse people and that is "what is my niche?".

I know, same thing happened to me when I started.

I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I am here if you ever want to run any niche "ideas" by me or you have any questions about finding your niche.

Get back to me when you get the chance! :)

Thanks Kyle I didn't want to bug you quite so soon LOL, I have decided on new horse owners as my niche market, just not sure if it's too broad? I'm thinking to build the site with helpful information and then of course links to products they might need. I also thought this way blogs could be used for trending products. Your thoughts appreciated.

That is completely fine and if that is a direction you are passionate about, I would recommend that you do it!
