Personally, I am preferring to use the Classic Editor too and am not really too keen on Gutenberg. I will get round to using it properly though and learning it but not just at this minute.
I don't think you are doing the wrong thing and I think there will be more people doing the same than what you think.

We have time to change, so take your time if you
need. I'm not going to throw myself on it either.
I like change but at my own pace, if it's possible.
WA is still new to me so I will change when I choose it.
Don't feel forced to do it quickly, WP gives us some time
take it, if you need.

Although I usually embrace change, this time around the learning curve is a little too steep to jump in right away. I am not saying that WordPress 5.0 is no good, just that it is a bit too much to take in all at once.
I had the Gutenberg plugin, but after trying it I figured it was too much to learn for now and deleted the plugin.
I use Site Content to edit my blog posts because of the benefits it brings. Especially the images compression and the huge image library. When I publish from Site Content to Wordpress 5.0 (without the classic editor plugin) I feel lost and don't know where to go.
Maybe I should have got into the Gutenberg train before, but hey, there is so much a person can do in one day right?
I give myself a couple of months to digest it a little at a time and we'll see how it goes!
Couple of months Denis? We have until March 2021 to digest Gutenberg - and the x factor also as Andre wisely mentioned is that if the user experience continues to be an overall negative, who knows? WP may pull Gutenberg, and go back to Classic anyway.
Thanks for your detailed feedback on this Denis, I really appreciate it. This just vindicates even more so that I am sticking with the Classic Editor for now:). As you say, there is only so much a person can do.

I've got the hang of Gutenberg. The only thing I have not been able to work out is some editing around photos where they were added within the old system. sometimes they do not form an image and text block and you cannot edit the image.
Aside from that I no longer bite my lip and pull my hair out.
If you have a lot of editing to do, then stay with the classic version until you are ready to tackle it.
I have no issues with writing new content in site content, then adding photos in WordPress. It is only the earlier reviews that sometimes have a problem, and I am in the process of working through every old blog post so just living with it.
If you are pressed for time, then it is better to keep up your content rather than worry about learning a new editor. This way your website is continuing to add content rather than drop behind.
Thanks for your valuable input Rose Ann, glad you are in the minority peeps so far who have spent time with Gutenberg and are enjoying the process.
I think given my situation, for now at least, I will stay with the Classic Editor.

As Jon says below, and I agree with him, this is my second time of trying Gutenberg and I don't like it at all. On all my sites I have re~installed the classic editor as you have done
That said, I don't even use the classic editor, because I use Thrive Themes Membership, because of its functionality and flexibility that makes blog posts and construction of blogs just a fun and enjoyable thing to do
If your happy with Classic stick with what you know and like

Interesting what you say about the Classic Editor and Thrive, but I guess its what suits individuals needs.
I chose TT initially, because I wanted something different than the classic editor, and having tried Gutenberg, knew it wasn't that, so went looking and ultimately ended up with TT
Glad it helped and I have also decided on my main marketing strategy for this coming year too...
I am not that smart at working word press yet so I cant give an informed opinion on gutenberg ?
Its the easiest and smartest marketing tool created for Business Owners John, when you get familar with it, you'll see how much time saving you get

Believe me, the high number of posts here at WA from people struggling with the new editor, means you are NOT wrong to stick with the Classic Editor.
I, have tried it and I do not like it at all. I find the Classic Editor far easier to use. Judging by the fact that over 1 million people have already reverted to the Classic Editor (by the stats in Wordpress plugins) it has not gone down too well!
That is a great indication Jon, you are SO right. With over 1 million+ downloads that is extremely telling! People are running back for Classic:)
Plus as Andre alluded to, there will be bugs over the next several updates for WP to clean up.
There will be plenty of time to "ween off" of it if/when we have to, but for now I'm staying "Classic"!

I intend to stay with Classic Editor for the moment as well. There has already been one update on this Wordpress 5 within a week so I am sure there will be a few more bugs they will have to clean up.
For me, I prefer the older version quicker and simpler to use

Great point Andre, for the next few versions we should all expect bugs. It is going to take them awhile to perfct the new editor anyway, so why stress?

Yea, perhaps we may need to get used to it later then again who knows with the number of people not enjoying this it doesn't mean that it is here to stay permanently either with some luck.

If this continues, they may decide to pull the entire Gutenberg:) I'd say time spent better elsewhere for now considering.

True if they get rid of the old version and install Gutenberg they can take it out and either reinstall the better version which it was before Gutenberg and definitely they could have spent better time elsewhere

Kaju, I was happy to see this post. The new version is driving me nuts and I usually love to be challenged, but, not at this moment. I didn't know I could go back, so thanks for sharing. Just be sure to take the time to learn it at some point soon. Continued success.

I haven't quite made up my mind yet - I've done a couple of posts with the latest version, and I enjoyed the blocks. however, I've also done a lot of optimisation on old posts over the last couple of days and find it a lot quicker to do in classic editor as I know straight up where things are.... I got a plugin that allows me to swap between the block editor and the classic editor as I see fit :)

Thanks Karina, that's valuable. There is always a learning curve and an adjustment period, and I see you have good results with both but for different tasks.
For now given my time structure, I think I will stay with Classic, and adjust to Gutenberg over a longer period of time:)
