I'm Loving Gutenberg!

A while ago after WordPress made the Gutenberg plugin available, I tried it out the new editor and I hated it.

Why would WordPress make such a backward change?

About a week ago, I decided to install the plugin again because eventually I'll have to use it when WordPress 5.0 is released next month.

I guess I was overwhelmed and confused the first time because now I love it and enjoy creating rich articles with blocks.

Now I think this is such a great change and would encourage anyone who hated the Gutenberg editor the first time they tried it, to try it again.

I'm not going to make this long. I'm just expressing my new feelings about Gutenberg and hope others would embrace the change as well.

Thanks for this, Jay. I have read such dreadful articles, outside of WA, about Gutenberg. Some saying that Gutenberg would be the end of WordPress. I didn't want to have anything to do with Gutenberg so learning of your experience is very helpful.

That was my experience as well. The day I first tried it, I went to look for reviews to see if I was the only one and was comforted by the fact that people were trash talking it.

But it really is great when you understand how to use it. And it's not that hard to get into it either.

That's really good to know Jay. I will try Gutenberg fairly soon, but right now I'm trying to get my head around a StudioPress theme. This is a new experience in itself and one I'm not enjoying!

Thanks for expressing, that illeviates some of my trepidations!

Thanks for your views. I will be sticking with the old editor for now. I just hate unnecessary change.

Derek

The old editor is easy to use and I guess you're like me. I hate change too.

But the thing about Gutenberg is that there's a block called the "classic editor", you can just use that and have the familiarity of the old editor while getting to learn Gutenberg.

Because someday very soon, they're going to get rid of that old editor and knowing that was the kick I needed to try it again.

Thanks for sharing your views and your experience with Gutenberg. I'd like to know what others think of it, especially those using themes that work like it, like Divi or Thrive.

I've never used those themes but I've used the Elementor plugin and honestly couldn't get into that.

Would be interested in hearing the views of those who use the themes you mentioned.

I'm not at all thrilled about Gutenberg, but it looks like the change is coming regardless of my ongoing lack of resilience to change.

I wasn't thrilled either but knowing that the change was inevitable, I had to try it out again. Once you understand how it works, I think you'll love it too.

Glad you didn't pull the plug Jay!

Well, I did for a while but I can't forever because change is going to happen regardless.

How does it compare to elementor?

To be honest, I tried Elementor and couldn't get into it. I probably had the same experience I had with Elementor that I had with Gutenberg at first.

So I can't really say. Maybe someone who loves using Elementor will chime in with a comparison.

Many thanks - I haven't tried it yet and am glad to hear that you have now come to love it. Will give it a go...

Great Isabella. I hope you don't have my initial experience. The editor really is awesome and easier to use than I thought.

We may have to think about trying this now.
Thanks for your input.

Yes, do try it out. It's easier to use than I initially thought and fun playing with the different editing blocks.

Yes it sure is and glad you are enjoying it too

Ah, finally someone who loves Gutenberg. 9/10 people seem to not want to get into using this editor. I can understand because it seems overwhelming at first to understand but fun to use once you know how to use it.

Everything is a learning and yes, once you get Gutenberg- you are away :)
