Hi everyone, my name is Iain Stanley. I'm from Sydney, Australia originally but for the best part of the last 20 years I've been travelling the world and taking in its wonders.

My home is now a beautiful seaside hamlet in far SW Japan. It's called Miyazaki. Why do I live here? Because it's quiet, the people are friendly, the air is fresh, I have a great job teaching at university and, most importantly, I can pursue my two great passions in life - surfing and photography.

The natural scenery here and the gorgeous coastal stretches allow me to wander all over the place with a camera in my hand and a surfboard under my arm. If I'm not out shooting the rivers, waterfalls, mountains or seaside beauty, then I'm paddling around catching waves on my shortboards, longboards and single fins.

It's a great life, and I'm surrounded by great people.

However, I'm also in my 40's. And in the last couple years I've become a first-time husband, a first-time father, and a first-time house owner. Which means I now have responsibilities I never had when I was roaming the globe alone.

To that end, I understand that I don't have another 40 years in the workforce to provide for my family and for my retirement.

So I'm harnessing the power of the internet to add multiple streams of income to life and learning how to turn my passions into actual ways of profiting.

One of the ways I've done that is through Instagram. Over the last 18 months I've built my total followers to 125,000 and used those followers to build an email list of over 10,000 subscribers.

It has been absolutely amazing for my photography business and for teaching people about Wealthy Affiliate.

You can learn more about how I built Instagram from scratch here:

I love teaching and helping others learn how they can be more effective in how they present themselves online, especially through Instagram and blogging, so if you'd like to know more about those things, check out my website at:

https://livingtherightway.com

I really hope to become part of the community here and learn about ethical marketing and helping others do the same.

I love writing so I'm really looking forward to taking advantage of the blogging system here and what it offers.

And if you're into photography or surfing then I'd absolutely love to hear from you :)

I really look forward to hearing from you soon.

Cheers,

Iain (not Lain)

Hey Iain,
I just read your bio and if I had enough time and money, I'd be on the plane to Janpan tomorrow, to catch a couple of waves together with you and to take some great pictures! Love it.
I'm living in Germany's Black Forest (you might have seen it on your journey around the planet) thus, I rarely see the ocean, which is really hard sometimes (nevertheless, most of the time I'm happy with my family). This is why I started my first WA page solely on my passion of surfing, adding some of my photos of course. Photo site is next. I'm looking forward to reading your articles on Instagram-follower/email-list generation.

All the best to you and your family,
Jo

Gooday Iain! Love your bio and what you have been able to accomplish in your life. Interesting the way our lives are built around our choices and how that leads us down different paths.

I grew up surfing in San Diego CA, now don't have much access to it (living in WA state). And I've always loved photography, though I still consider myself and amateur, with great digital gear that I completely underutilize!

I'm just a fledgling here at WA but am enjoying the experience immensely. Going through Course 2 now and working on building quality content for my first ever website.

I'm going to check out your website and instagram site, thanks Iain, I appreciate the experienced providing assistance to the inexperienced. One day I will be able to give back also.

See you around WA!

No worries Bob. That's too bad you can't get out in the water so much, you must miss it. Though I love my photography and my wife, not sure how long I'd last without the waves haha!! Just ask if there's anything you need.

Hi Lain,

With all those Instagram followers, you're well on your way to massive success.

One thing that really boosts your opportunity to earn is your own email list to market products to.

I'd like to give you a resource in case you haven't created one yet or know someone who'd like to create a list for their business.

This page breaks it down step-by-step and it doesn't cost much at all to get started:

https://www.smartpassiveincome.com/tutorials/how-to-start-an-email-list/

This guy isn't the only successful marketer who wishes they would've created one in the beginnings of their online journey to Mt. Success.

Email marketing is so effective because it keeps you engaged with your audience. And percentage-wise, the ROI is usually in the thousands.

Keep on livin' the dream!

Cheers,

Jon

That's awesome! I was gonna say I'd rather have 10k subscribers than 100k followers and you're already there. Congrats.

Absolutely. 100k followers don't mean anything if you're not monetising them in some way. People get obsessed with raw numbers but it's only the numbers in your bank account that matter. Of course, the more followers you have, the more chance you have of monetising them. But unless you're actively doing that, it's pretty pointless....

Good day Iain,

Yeah, I would love to get over there and have a paddle out with ya'.

I broke one of my boards after riding on the bus in Samar Philippines with all the chickens and pigs. One of those lightweight jobs with a really thin stringer. Great board though. I had an eight-foot lip coming down on me and I had to throw my board. The lip cut it in half and all I had was 3 fins and the gorilla grip. HA HA.

The board I currently have is a Mc Coy nugget shaped by the man himself but it has too much area and too buoyant. I need something that sinks a bit more.

Anyway cheers mate and thank you for following me.

I wish you all the best and hope to catch up with you someday.

Brad

Hey Iain! I appreciate the connection!

There aren't a lot of things better than being near the water. I still have a board, but it's been awhile since I surfed. I volunteer every September at the Nun's Beach Surf Contest in South Jersey. It's a great time for everyone. Especially for the surfers who range in age from 4 to 70+.

Best of luck with your websites. I need to check out how to make Instagram work for me. It sounds like you have mastered it.

Thanks Iain for your connection. I am 76 years of age learning the net mainly Instagram. 50 years ago I was making surf boards on the Gold Coast. Am now retired to the bush from 30 years as a Ford dealership panel shop manager. I love team work as we all learn from one another. Welcome.

Well hello there Iain. Congrats on your 1 years with WA. Thank you for including me in your network. Looks like you have a "fantabulous" life. Wow, never thought of Japan as home, but hey, sounds wonderful from your view. Anyway, I love photography I was an art major for the first 18 years of my life (not counting the first 6, LOL). In architecture (drafting floor plans), illustrations, still life, painting, etc. I ventured off into business and psychology. So, I too found this website and fell in love with the program, the people and the founding families responsible for making this happen. But I would love to see your work. If that is what you are using to monetize your website, I bet you are successful by now since from your profile, you have been with WA for 1 year. Anyway, thank you for connecting me to your network. Look forward to hearing more of your progress. Take care and Happy Holidays to you and your family.

My son is into surfing and my daughter is into photography -- Their passions have become my interests. Your life of travel and freedom is something that most only dream of. Well done to have accomplished that! Your hobbies, likes, and life are perfectly suited to WA! Although I suspect by now you have discovered that for yourself. Still here after a year and a half says to me you probably think so too. Thank you for the follow Iain. Best wishes for lasting and continued success.

Kind regards,

Carl

Hi! Iain,

Welcome to WA and thank you for following me.

Here I would like to applaud you for making a right decision to join the right Internet program with unparalleled training and member fellowship and support.

Now you can await the coming of success if persistently taking the right actions as instructed in the WA training course and the help from its members, though hard and tough. In reality, there has been no such a program like WA.

To illustrate what I stated and assured above, welcome to peruse few of my WA posts and some contents in my site, www.ebettercare.com, built with WA's WP platform.

If encountering any questions, just ask the WA members, who will surely and timely lend their helping hands.

Here I wish the best for your success to come,

James

Hi Iain, I lived and worked in Sydney for around 20 years, originally from N.Z. but moved to Sunshine Coast to own & work a strawberry & avocardo farm. Retired now, well sort of.
Have you learn't Japanese? You said you have a wife & family.
Are your children going to a Japanese school? and how difficult is it for your wife to shop over there. I know most Japanese speak
English but if you are from a small town maybe not so much English?
I can understand why you need to travel around so much, you can't take piccys of palm trees forever.
Would love to see your 'photos, are they on your website? if so what is the URL site name
Cheers, Jae

Hi lain, thanks for adding me to your network. Will do likewise.

Sounds like an awesome lifestyle, I must say I am a bit jealous :-)
I love to travel but not been to Japan, although I am fascinated by Japanese culture and design.

Hope you are having success here at WA, I am still pretty new to the online marketing game so I am happy to share my knowledge as well as learn from others

Have a great day

Michael

Hi Lain,

It's good to know that you are open to the idea that WA and programs like DA can co-exist nicely with one another (some WA members call it a scam). I just came from your blog via SiteComments, and I found you here, I decided to follow you. Bird of same feathers flock together.
