I use the All In One Sitemap

I have two websites - AIO Sitemap works great on my other site, but does not work at all on the one below.

This is the error

XML Parsing Error: no element found
Location: http://ladiesgolfchannel.com/sitemap.xml
Line Number 1, Column 1:

I just cannot get it to work - can anyone help?
...

found this online:

Fixed it by deactivating the sitemap plugin, deleting the sitemap files from the website and deleting the error_log file also.
Then reactivated plugin and manually rebuild sitemap.

How do I access those files here at WA?

SOLVED - SOLUTION - thanks to Craig (welshy)!

Deactivated AIO Sitemap
Made connection with FTP to my files
Deleted xml file in httpdocs
Enabled AIO sitemap again
Made new sitemap
VOILA!

It worked. Thank you. It has been driving me crazy. Jim

Hi Joanne ... I have this exact problem. Deactivating the AIO Sitemap is easy enough, but I'm not following the two FTP transactions in your solution. Can you explain in a little more detail? I'm using Firefox for my browser.

Hope things are going well for you.

Dah ... I just needed to read all the comments here. I'm going to try Craig's solution below.

Hope you got it all figured out!

Craig's instructions are a year old. I don't trust the current FileZila site. It looks to me like the risk of malware is too high. I'm using the free version of avest and it may not be enough to block whatever I might get from FileZila. I had so much trouble with malware a while back that I'm supper sensitive about this.

I found another member who used an alternate browser to get the site map done. I may try that. Thanks for responding.

YAY! I had the same problem and this fixed it :)

Yay !!!
... glad it helped!
That problem drove me nuts!

WOOHOO! This totally fixed the problem. Thanks!

THANK YOU! I have been struggling with this same issue for 3 days now. This worked fine for me too!

...glad I could help!

Joanne, did you mean to say "Deactivated AIO SEO" in your solution above? (i.e., the entire plugin)?

Or, within AIO SEO ==> Feature Manager, did you deactivate "XML Sitemaps"?

Actually, I tried both -- and finally got the problem resolved, though I'm not sure which of these steps resolved the issue.

The other mystery to me is that, from Filezilla, I no longer see the "sitemap.xml" file in my httpdocs folder, so I'm not sure where it was recreated.

However, I'm glad that my pages now appear to be indexed within the Google Webmaster Tool :)

Hi Patrick!
Deactivated the Sitemap within the AIO plugin.
... glad you got it fixed!
I use WSFTP rather than Filezilla, so I don't know about that.

Joanne, Thank you for confirming/clarifying! I'm glad I came across your original post, or I think I'd still be stuck on this issue.

Have a great day!

Totally my pleasure Patrick!
... until next time

Hi All!
Which URL we can submit the sitemap to major search engines, Or if not, can anyone could help to list the URLs fro each, Thank you so much

VO

Very Cool all

You need to connect via FTP using a program like filezilla.
Once connected you'd find the simemap.xml file inside the HTTPDOCS folder.

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/accessing-your-website-via-ftp/uploading-files-with-filezilla

Please be aware, when you install Filezilla it attempts to install junk software, when asked, press decline.

Or try another FTP software.

Alternatively you could try submit a support ticket and ask if they'd remove the file for you.

Awesome - thanks Craig!
... going to try that and see what happens.

what is sitemap.xml.gz

SUCCESS !
thanks again - much appreciated!

Geeezz Joanne.....I sure hope someone can give you the answer because what you just wrote is a whole new language for me.....I'd have to get a translator......p
