I'm still ALIVE! But what happened to September?

Hello lovely WAers!

This is just a quick blog to let you all know that I'm STILL ALIVE! Yay!

I may have been a bit slow lately but I haven't gone anywhere - it's just that the last month has just been so hectic that I haven't managed to find the time to do much WA work or website work, which is a shame. Not what I had planned for the summer and September at all!

However, I have begun work at my 2 new jobs, got my children sorted out going back at school, AND started a new term with my performing arts theatre school so I haven't been idle by any means.

Interestingly one of my new jobs is writing articles for a magazine so I have been writing a lot, just not for my blogs, but I'm being paid for each article I write so I can't complain. And I'm using all the skills I've learned here since I got the job through someone seeing my profile on Fiverr, which has led to an additional £1000 per month!! That's something I didn't have when I started here, this time last year.

Starting my new teaching job was interesting too, as the school I'm now working for, was moving into a new building which, on the day before the students were due back, still had no doors on the toilets or running water in the sinks!!

Needless to say, we delayed the students returning for 2 days and it was a case of "all hands on deck" - literally we were all there painting doors, putting together furniture and cleaning and polishing everything. I spent a couple of days scrubbing the outside of the building and cleaning windows, but I'm pleased to report that when the students did return, there were both toilet doors, running water and locks! And the outside of the building gleamed! :)

It's amazing what can be achieved with a bit of team spirit!

And although there is still a lot to do, the students were able to return and have been thoroughly enjoying the extra space and the balmy September weather we've been having here in the UK.

So what about my WA work?.

Well, I'm a bit behind with that now and I've just passed my one year anniversary although I'm going to write a post at the beginning of October about that, charting my progress and things I've achieved and learned in that time.

I've only written one website post this month so far. However, never one to give up, I'm going to try to write another 7 posts in the next 4 days to make up for lost time. Wish me luck!

One thing I've learned in my time here, is that you should never give up. And if you fall off the wagon for a few days or weeks, (as I have done a few times when life gets in the way); the only thing to do is pick yourself up, and carry on. So that's what I'm doing.

My WA ranking has fallen quickly in the last few weeks but I'm OK with that too.

I'm looking forward to reading all the great blogs I've missed in the last month as well and catching up with my friends here. So see you all around!

Here's to all our success!

Gail

Welcome back, Gail!

Thanks Kelyee

Hey Gail,
I'm glad you are doing well!!! Things are moving faster and faster for me!!!
I move out of the home I'm in currently and then stay with one friend till October 14. At that time I will be passed to another friend to stay with until my new apartment is ready on October 18.
I will also be one busy lady!!!
Hope in my new place to set up a work area in my bedroom so I can let my creative juices flow!!!

Tried and True

Elaine

Hi Elaine
Good to hear from you too.
And good luck with your move or should I say 'moves'!
Hope you get it all sorted out and a lovely new place to write.
All the best
Gail

Hello Gail!
Great to see you again.
Mee too think the time is flying by too fast. Have not been very active communicating here on WA either.

Wish you luck writing your posts, and great success!
:-)

Hi Pernilla.
Good to see you again too.
And thanks for the good wishes.
I'll let you know how I get on.
Gail

Was wondering where you had gone to.

Good to see your still around. It's amazing what opportunities come around after applying what we are learning at WA.

I myself landed a job as an e-commerce and social manager after applying my skills learnt here. others have built websites for local businesses when showing their new skills.

It really is as good as a University Degree learning here. In fact it used to be called one.

Way hay to WA!

Hi Mark

Still here yes, and congratulations on your own job - well done for applying the knowledge. I agree it's like a university degree, definitely. And the great thing is that it son't cost us a fortune in tuition fees and living expenses whilst we study.
It's the future!
Have a great day.
Gail

Hey,

You sound really busy? I can totally relate I bet a lot of people even maybe everybody at some point life got in the way and couldn't put time towards their business.

I know me when I first started my first two blogs my first half a year I only had a good 5 posts on each site or ten in all. this was all because I am gone for work at 330am a two hour commute to work then off at 3 home by around 5-530.

I play with my dog for about an hour to two hours then workout eat and all that by this time i don't work on my website. weekend comes around I am so busy doing other things I didn't think.

Then i really thought man I need to get working on my business. So on my two hours to work id work on my blogs then do the finishing touches at home

Now I have those two and started up a new one a little over a month ago. I know some say don't do more than one. Me personally I have a lot i can talk about found my times i can work on each site so i am cool with it.

I know you will find your times and hey I know you can do it i believe if one person can do it everybody can do it. I hope the best for you keep spreading those positive vibes

Matt

Hi Matt

Thanks for this. I'm glad you managed to get things sorted out a bit.
3.30am doesn't sound like fun at all.
(And yet here I am still up at 1.30am now! :)
And I'll keep up with the positive, for sure.
Have a great evening.
Gail

HI Gail,

Seems to look like has been throwing you bits and bits to keep you occupied and busy.

Did you sign up for Fiverr because of something you read on hear?

Or did you have an account with them before signing up at WA?

Just curious as I was thinking about possibly outsourcing some work and was looking for opinions on some of the places online.

Great to see that our busy schedule has slowed a bit to allow for an article here and there for your sites it is easy to neglect them during the building process.

Good luck catching up,

Calvin

Hi Calvin
Thanks for your message.
I did join Fiverr after reading some posts on here, yes and some others here have had some success using the site.
If you search for posts about outsourcing blogs, I'm sure you will find some good information or recommendations for other good sites too.
All the best.
Gail

Cheers, and welcome back Gail, you have still 3 WHOLE September days to go!

Haha - LOL.
Yes - and I'm going to make them count! :)
Thanks Loes
Gail

Thank goodness for this I've been missing you, Gail. It's very uplifting to see your projects. I was about to send out Scotland Yard!

HI Mike.
Glad you didn't call Scotland Yard - they might find me out for real!! :)
Good to see you too my friend.
Speak to you soon.
Gail

Great post, Gail! Fun content to read and I really like your images. Especially the text/font on the turtle. I really need to learn how/where to do that! 😃 Do you use the images tool on WA? Any other sites for images you recommend?

Thanks ahead of time,

Jamie

Hi Jamie.
Thanks for your comment.
I just did the images in word this time but I also use Canva if I'm adding text or something.
The image in the header is from pixabay which I use a lot. I just put it on a background.

Thank you, Gail! I’ll definitely check out Canva and Pixabay. Keep up the great inspiring work! 😀 _~ Jamie

Hey Gail!
