3 Most Common Mistakes Made in Affiliate Marketing
The followings are 3 of the most common mistakes, which are made in affiliate marketing and which I made too.
- Joining Too Many Affiliate Programs
It is very easy to join affiliate programs and it’s very easy to be tempted to join multiple affiliate programs to try and maximize the income earnings you will be getting. Sure, as affiliate marketer you need to be part of multiple programs. Because every program will come to an end. Some sooner, some later. Who hasn’t seen that before? The point here is not to join too many programs at the same time. An affiliate marketer should choose his programs wisely. He should stick to a few, and focus on building his business around those few. As soon as he sees his offers making a reasonable profit, then maybe he can join a few other affiliate programs. Therefore, the skill is to do it slowly but surely and not rushing into things. - Trying Too Hard to Sell, Rather Than Helping the Reader
Many affiliate marketers when first starting, their only goal is to get people to click their links so that they would get a commission fast. They don’t think about things from the readers point of view. Who hasn’t seen this before? A product offer but no description or review for it. Customers like to know what the product is about, and what it’s like before they purchase it. That is why reviews are so popular. Reviews provide real user experiences, and that is what people want to see. Therefore, reviews are an essential part of the marketing process. - Not reading the Affiliate Program Terms and Conditions and the Affiliate Disclosure
Maybe the biggest of all mistakes! Some affiliate programs have some conditions that will make it impossible for you to receive a commission. E.g. discounted offers. Who hasn’t seen it before? On an affiliate marketer site, you see a product you are interested in. You click on the link and you are on the seller’s page. You like the product, but the price is out of your reach. You want to leave and boom, a popup opens offering you that product for a much lower price. Now it’s in your reach and you order. In this case it’s almost sure the affiliate marketer will not get any commission. Therefore, when subscribing to an affiliate program always carefully read the Affiliate Program Terms and Conditions and the Affiliate Disclosure from start to end.
As you see, these mistakes can easily be avoided. To your success!

Very true and well written. I am one of those who has been trying to push too many affiliates at the same time without checking them out carefully... I have tagged your post for a future reminder. :)
