It's time for your daily dose of Wordpress Wisdom! In today's quick tutorial I'll be showing you how to use a free service called "Giphy" (pronounced "Jiffy") to add and create short looping videos called "Gifs" that you can embed into your content. This is a great way to incorporate short, quick video clips without needing to go through YouTube to embed them. :) It's quick and easy and I'll show you how to do it!

To see the final steps of placing the embed code for the gif into your post check out this tutorial here: How to Use the Custom HTML Block in Wordpress

As always, please feel free to share this video to anyone needing help with this. If you have any Wordpress related questions that you'd like to see me create a tutorial around feel free to send me a private message or leave me a message on my profile.

Hey Eric, I am going to bombard you now with a trillion questions!! only joking๐Ÿ˜„, about 4.....loving the concept of Giphs in posts, my questions are...

How did you do personal clips, via Giph or Gifs? In otherwords, it's your little clips, but Gif style? Whats the process can you explain please? This might be of interest to others...๐Ÿค”

Also I tried to copy code of a Gif, and found it difficult to embed within my post, do I need a specific plugin to allow this action?

I checked via youtube different ways to do this and failed each time, does one change a bit of code?

I transfered it via HTML and it worked, but really large with tons of space around it, and when you hover over the Gif there is a trail of ads below which I can't remove!

Any clues how to reduce the image size and remove all the gallery of ads?

Hey Julia! I used Giphy just like I show in the video ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ When you upload your video clip it gives you an embed code that you just paste into an html block and you're done. Here's a tutorial on using the Custom HTML block:

Thanks Eric I appreciate you demoing this and your super quick response!

You're welcome!

Eric, that looks really great, thank you. I might just try that out. Cheers, Jenni.

Just another little extra to show how much our websites are capable of. ๐Ÿ’ฏ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Very cool, Eric. It's a great way to add a little life to a sea of type. I'm not too familiar with GIFs. Is there sound in them?

Yeah just another extra to potentially bring life to your articles ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ And no thereโ€™s no sound in gifs.

Thanks Eric. Always cool to learn these new things!

Hi Eric,

Thank you for this great tip. I did download a GIF to my site and it does show but it also shows many of the same examples below it. Is there anyway to get rid of the other examples and have the one GIF I chose?

Thank you,
Mike

Just use the embed code it gives you and it will embed just that gif you choose into your website ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Ok....I did that but I must have done something wrong...Like you always say...."Get Your Hands Dirty" and I will just do that with this new program you showed us.

Thanks again,
Mike

No prob, Mike! Get your hands dirty :)
