Hi, Everyone...
Today I wanted to take a few minutes and share with you...Nothing!
You may be asking why I would publish such a nonsensical post - why not turn this into a question for the group...
Maybe I should be asking you why I am posting about nothing?
Instead, let me ask you a few real questions...
How Is Your Time Spent On Wealthy Affiliate?
(1) Do you find yourself getting caught up with looking at others' posts here that will not do anything for your own online marketing business?
(2) Do you find yourself publishing blog posts that are unrelated to online marketing business just to get some new content added on Wealthy Affiliate too often?
(3) Are you working actively on the many tasks that you KNOW you have to complete to get a viable online marketing business in place when you do such things?
My answers: Yes, yes, and sometimes...Your answers are...?
It Is OK To Post About Nothing!
Once in a while, a person just needs to vent, to talk about things other than what we are here for...
This community is all about...well, community...
People in communities do that kind of stuff, they like to commisserate and chat, etc.
I do it as well, it is certainly easy enough (this post is an example?).
Actually, I find that you can often slip into the social aspect of this community and use it as a means of procrastination, kind of like Facebook...
It happens to me...
Don't Worry - Be Happy - Nothing To Worry About...
Light-hearted statement, and to a degree a true statement...
UNLESS...
You find yourself doing more nothing than something!
(1) Maybe you are asking frivolous questions or publishing frivolous blog posts instead of doing the real work that is going to make you successful over time...
(2) Maybe you are concerned with the rankings here on Wealthy Affiliate over how many columns of decimals you have in your bank account (Hint: more is better!)...
(3) Maybe you are spending your valuable time for internet marketing commenting on others' posts, some meaningful, others entertaining, others that are...well...there?
Wheat Versus Chaff
I don't know what each of you is doing at any given moment, nor do I really care. I hope that you are doing something, rather than nothing...
There are 360 seconds in an hour, 8640 seconds in a day (I had to use a calculator for that second number - old age?)...
Nothing is good sometimes...Everyone needs a bit of nothing...
But surely you can pick and choose from the thousands of seconds in a day WHEN to do...Nothing?
My thoughts:
When it comes to Online Marketing, focusing on the tasks at hand to grow your business a bit more and a bit less on nothing will get you a lot further along your way to having a full on business...
I know, I know...
"Never Mind - Nothing..."
Ever had someone say that to you?
Most often with a little investigation beyond the passive aggressive nature that statement embodies, there is SOMETHING...
I say this to you today...
"Make your nothing moments disappear or minimize them...You will find when you choose to let those nothings loose after a lot of something, you will enjoy them more..."
Oh heck...
Never Mind - This is Nothing!

Great! I had been wondering about some posts! It is nice to have some motivation sometimes, but in the other hand I feel like people wasting my time with their blogs. I only cruise to headlines which tent to be interesting to my topics

I just do not have time to hit them all, and sometimes I wonder if people are pushing for rankings here or to get their online business up and running...
When I do start surfing here, it can take you down a rabbit hole, and when you get out an hour is gone...I cannot afford to waste that much time or it will cut into my swimming time hehe!

Great post Dave! - your "Nothing" post was indeed ENTERTAINING, it grabbed OUR ATTENTION, but most importantly...
It is truly ABOUT SOMETHING VERY IMPORTANT- we need to minimize the "nothing" moments ans maximize the SOMETHING moments, which are the ones we spend building our businesses.
That is, unless you are here at WA for nothing but pure entertainment, which I know there are some who are. And if that is the case, as long as you know it that's fine, that's how you choose to spend your money.

Answers:
1) Some days I can get a little caught up in reading too many posts, but not as much as I used to. I usually give myself an alloted amount of time to read posts, answer questions, etc. There have been days when I don't even read any posts (it's a little game I play with the WA algorithm).
2) I believe everything I publish on this platform can be related to online marketing in some way, whether directly or indirectly, simply because it's content that engages others. Even the "fluff stuff".
3) I work actively to complete the tasks that will improve my online business. I'm actually most proud of this, not to say there's no room for improvement, but I've learned I can hold myself accountable.

I enjoy reading other people's posts. I learn something every time that I go over other people's ideas regardless of whether they pertain to my business or not. For me, a rise in rankings is secondary. I couldn't tell you my ranking at the moment. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
