INTRODUCTION

This post was prompted by a question posed earlier this week by Lynne, yet another fine Wealthy Affiliate member, wherein she asked in a post what landing pages were, where she could get one, etc.

One of the comments/answers to her query pointed to some excellent training by one of our prolific authority members Jason, who has published a tutorial on the subject of landing pages HERE ====> https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/blindingl... ...

I do recommend that you check this training out if you are questioning what landing pages, squeeze pages, opt-in pages, etc. are and what they are used for. Jason has provided a good lecture and examples of these in his tutorial.


LET'S DRILL DOWN

Today, however, I want to approach the subject from a slightly different standpoint. All of the terms landing pages, opt-in page, squeeze pages, thank you pages, affiliate pages, and so on refer to parts of something bigger, a sum of the parts so to speak, that typically are called “Sales Funnels” in this Online Marketing world.

If you are new to online sales, this term may not be familiar to you, it may seem like yet another daunting task to add to the ever-growing list of things to learn, but rest assured, this is not that complicated, and it is a tactic I have seen used often in my many years in offline sales, with a twist…

Indeed, it is likely you found your way to Wealthy Affiliate through a mini sales-funnel at the least, and perhaps a more complex funnel, depending on the referrer and their intent/set up. It could be that you were doing a search for ‘the best way to make money online’ or affiliate marketing’ or something similar.

You may have gone through a page where you signed up for a free report or video review or similar, in exchange for providing your name and email address. This is a rudimentary sales funnel. Someone convinced you to provide your contact information in exchange for a report, and a link to Wealthy Affiliate…

The web page may have been an attractive page that projected professionalism and someone who knows what they are talking about. It had a neat title that captured your attention, some further information that seemed to answer your problem, and it prompted you to take action. Once you did get the information, you again took action to sign up and become a member.

This is a sales funnel, albeit a simple one. They get WAY more complicated than that, believe me…The whole point is that you as a seller or purveyor are leading your prospect through a series of pages prompting them to take the action you desire them to take …

This basic concept has been around forever (OK not forever, but for a LONG time), but as the internet and web sites and pages have evolved, this age old concept has been adapted rather well to what we have today – slick responsive pages that look like they were designed by a professional agency that people can quickly peruse and act on (as you the seller are pushing them to)…

The buyer moves from an initial less costly offer to the next more costly offer, adding value as you go, adding profits as you go…It can add to your overall program in a number of ways, and it can be designed to add to more areas than sales…Leads perhaps or building a membership site or a mentoring program, or shoulder program/niche sales, the possibilities are endless…

HOW SALES FUNNELS CAN HELP YOUR ONLINE BUSINESS

This sales funnel is one of the base requirements to realize any appreciable income from your online activities I think. It is a very important element that we all as online marketers need to understand and use in our activity, or risk making only minimal amounts of income, and more importantly, losing out on the many additional potential leads and conversions that are possible using sales funnels….

It is worth repeating: Without sales funnels in place, you lose out on lots of leads, sales, and profits. When you consider what each lead is worth (I have read all kinds of numbers from different folks, but $1 per lead per month seems to be thrown around most often as an average value of a lead) NOT using sales funnels just makes little sense to me…Using them you may be able to raise the value of a lead up a great deal…

Knowing this is the case, it is worth digging into this ‘sales funnel’ thingy to learn more and incorporate it into our online marketing program…So…

Let’s go into some online sales funnel components, how we go about fitting these pieces together to create an effective and functional funnel, and determine if we need psychology, design, and copywriting degrees to put one together?

This is really a precursor for a training course that is almost finished and will be offered online, so it was an opportunity to get some feedback here...

This mini course is somewhat generic, but offers enough I hope to get the creative juices flowing of members that happen to see this 4 part series...

This is my testing ground, so to speak...

This is a complex topic and one not so easy to wrap up in one package, but believe me, it can make a huge difference in your eventual success at online marketing...

I truly believe this is a subject that is deserving of addtional attentiojn by us all. hence the feeble attempt on my side to shed a little light on this...

I do hope that we have some veterans step in and add their wisdon to the topic as I go along, let's see if we can generate some interest on their parts to make it so!
