Hi,

I have uploaded AISEO to latest version and it is now reporting a conflict with xml sitemaps. Should i remove xml sitemaps plug in?
Thanks.

Dave

I have upgraded aiseo and I had no problems. Do you have perhaps plugin colosion? I would contatct site support.

Thanks for the feedback.

Dave

So I believe you are saying that you have both AISEO plugin installed and another plugin for site maps.

If that is the case I would activate the Sitemap that comes with AISEO and deactivate the other plugin.

We use the AISEO plugin sitemap and have no problems.

Hi,

OK, Thanks.
I will check out the link above from Triblu and then make a decision.

Dave

Hey Dave,

Have you checked to see if the new developer of All In One SEO Pack plugin is doing what an older version did... pushing by installing THEIR sitemap plugin that is causing this conflict?

If so, here's a solution:

Hi.

Thanks.

Hi,

Are there any copyright issues adding 3rd party urls to a post, i.e. YouTube videos. I am assuming if they are out in the public domain there should not be. Thanks

Excellent answers here, Dave!

Jeff

I know, great responses....

Many times there are, Dave! Isn't it great?

Jeff

Sure is....

Have an excellent new month, my friend!

Jeff

From Devin Miller, a patent attorney: "Hyperlinking (a regular link) to a YouTube video is not infringing on any copyright laws because the video does not appear on your site. Similarly, you can post links to any web page without asking permission from the owners."

https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/can-i-embed-videos-from-other-sites-devin-miller/

WordPress 5.0 brings the auto-embeds feature that allows embedding content from YouTube, etc. You just have to copy the URL and paste it into the block editor.

Once you paste the YouTube URL, WordPress will fetch the embed code.

Tom

Hi Tom,

Great, thank you for the answer and the legal text.

Dave

You're welcome, Dave!

Thanks for all the help.
I think it makes the site look pretty good.
Adding video looks really good.... https://openwaterswimadvice.com/strength-exercises-for-swimming-exercises-for-home-or-the-gym

Hey Dave,

Here's what Google shows for your questions... see screen prints below...

Not that Google is a law firm... and members here are not copyright lawyers, I'm sure... so if you REALLY want to be 100% legal, please consult a lawyer versed in internet copyright laws.

Hope you find this helpful.

Thanks.
So it looks like link to Homepage or embed You tube videos into the page. Brilliant, that will cover it.

Dave

Yes you can add 3rd party URLS to your post.
Make reference where you are getting the link from (or who you referencing.)

YouTubes are very helpful to add.
ie. To give you a better idea of what this product can do we are sharing a video from xxxxx.

Hi,

Yes, also the referencing makes sense.

Dave

Hi as regards YouTube videos, you can use them if they have the Share option under them. However, you need to embed them, not use the URL. Take a look at this training.

Hi Diane,

Yes, that backs up what the others are saying.
Thank you for the training video, very useful.

Dave

Thanks for all the help.
Not to difficult and I think looks ok

Hi - try not to add too many as they can slow down your website. I only ever add 1 to a post, so check your site speed, just in case.

Hi,

OK, thanks and will do.
As it is a more instructional post for exercises this is really a one off with the three videos, but I will definitely keep it in mind.

Hi,

I have a post published a couple of years ago for the keyword "open water swim buoy". Wordpress says it is indexed in Google but I can not see it anywhere when ente

HI, Phil got you covered.

if you put site: in front of your search you can check whether it is indexed in google
what you can do - if you leave the title and url alone is to rewrite the content and give google fresh content to index
once you have completed the article you can go to the search console and request indexing via the url inspection tool ( yes it's back)
if you change the url then it becomes a new article
but you don't publish it under a keyword - you target a keyword and if you want to change the topic then you can with the above limitations....
have fun
phil

Hi, Thanks.

I can now see that the url is indexed, but if it is not being found on my expected keywords/search term "open water swim buoy" then it will never be found by any customers. Or am I missing something in my understanding?

Dave

being indexed just means that you are on the list
as you say if google doesn't assign any keywords to it then you are not going to be found. that is what you look for in search console against that page
if there is nothing against it then by all means rewrite hte content to make it more relevant.
as stated above if you change the url it is classified as new content, the title maybe ...
and the content is fair game - fresh content may increase the ranking of the post

Thanks. I will try a new title first

Did you do site: your website name and page?

I did and see it. Check using site: then the URL

Dave

Just because it is indexed by Google does not mean it was indexed for the term you expect. The search engines decide how it will be indexed. You can only suggest your keyword phrase.

Hi,

OK, Thanks.
That clears it up for me.

Hi,

Hey Dave,

You may gain some helpful tips from Jay's webinar replay here: Hope you find this helpful.

Hi,

Thanks, I will check this out

Dave

Some good advice here, Dave!

Jeff

it means very few people are actually searching for that keyword with buying intent according to google
having a quick look this is not a new keyword and looks competitive in its natural state
19 sites have that exact phrase in their serps and there is very little traffic searching for it....
zoggs predator flex polarized ultra orange black has a better score - but is further down the buying chain and you get more shops in the serps first page
i would say in this case give it a miss unless you can generate your own traffic from social media...
can you find a question people are asking about hte goggles and try that
maybe find a question to ask about a feature - do they have uv protection - shatterproof -
and base your review around that benefit
good luck
phil

Hi,

Thanks for the reply and the good advice re the specific question. I will take a look.

Currently I have found "zoggs predator flex swim goggles" which has 32 6 25 respectively, so as a low hanging keyword I think this will work.
What do you think?

Dave

if you place that into google then look at who is at the top - zoggs for the first 6 or 7 places then ebay then amazon.....
is there any room for you on page one at the moment.....
if the seo isn't 98 or higher then maybe think twice - this number looks at the first page and other parameters and determines your chances - there is currently no guidance as to how to use this figure ..but the higher the better
i was thinking more like 'are zoggs predator flex goggles safe for.....:predator flex review'
this asks a definite question and states that it is a review - so yoyu are going after two birds with one stone
staying away from the buying keywords and going for a keyword with slightly lower intent before they have decided to take out their wallet
they are still in their research mode but close to buying as they are looking for features....
so oging through all of hte features with a view of is it safe ...
can the plastic crack over time - what about the lenses- and hte strap

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.
This is where I get a bit confused, we do our selection on the Quoted string and putting this into goggle looks OK, but then without the quoted string you are right, just zoggs and amazon. So is it the unquoted string we should be finally looking at to get on the first page. In that respect "zoggs goggle review" looks a better bet.
Great information about the safety aspect, I think I will also explore this route. In the term 'are zoggs predator flex goggles safe for.....:predator flex review' which part of this is the keyword I am targeting, or is it the complete string?.

Regards

Dave

looking for direct competition you use the quotes
to see your competition for the keyword in google no quotes
it does take a bit of time to get used to the system, don't worry....
which part is the keyword ...both - but i would be targeting hte are..... as it is lower competition
i haven't done any research on the keyword so you will need ot do more if you want to or just write the article....
but get into the habit of thinking about why someone would be searching and what they would ask and create articles to answer those questions....these are what wil lrank easily at the start...
it wil lstill take up to 3 months to start ranking, but in that time you can add pelnty of content to your site...

So, post published.
https://openwaterswimadvice.com/zoggs-goggles-review-the-predator-flex-range

I went for the "zoggs goggles review" keyword first, next post will be the safety aspect that you suggested.

Where is the best forum to ask if I want feedback on a post?
Thanks.

Dave

feedback on a post ideally should be done through sitefeedback
or can be done on this thread as most do sounds like a plan - create a post about another couple of products before you come back to the goggles - you wouldn't want to see sequential posts being about hte same proiduct would you....

Hi,

Good point.
Thanks for all your help.

Regards

Dave

Hi - it means that less than 10 people per month are searching for that exact phrase. It may not be worth your time and effort to write a review that so few people are searching for.

"Zoggs goggles review" might be a better option with an average of 40 and a QSR of 12.

Hi Diane,

Great, thanks.
I also found "Zoggs predator flex swim goggles" with 32 6 25 respectively, but I think yours is even better.
Thanks.

Dave

Generally speaking, no, as it means no one is searching for that term.

However, if it is a new product that you are reviewing, then yes, it is ok, as it just means the stats aren't there, and you will be one of the first to write a post about it.

Hi, Thanks.
That clears it up, I see "zoggs predator flex swim goggles has 32 6 25 respectively, so as a low hanging keyword I think this will work.

Dave

Also note that you can prepend or append other words to a keyword/phrase to create your title. So adding Review to the end of any keyword will not affect the stats, if anything, it increases your coverage.

Hi,
