In this training I am going to walk you through the process of embedding any video from YouTube, directly into your website. I also am going to spend a bit of time discussing when and where to integrate the videos, and whether it is appropriate to embed other publishers videos into your website.

People can have the tendency to go "video heavy" with their website when they learn they can embed any video they like, and I want you to be careful about this. Too much use of video in a site can lead to traffic leak and create lower conversions as it can serve as a distraction if it is not done correctly.

If you have any questions about how to properly embed videos into your website, please leave them below and I will be happy to help you out.

You will need to insert a little piece of code.

Loes could help you with this.

Explain to her what you want to do

Ah thats simple. Take the embed code, from YouTube. This is found under the share button on YouTube and paste that into the editor in WordPress, making sure you choose the text option, top right hand side of the editpr. Then the video will show up

Hey Karen,

Are you using a mobile device?
If not, can you provide a screen print of what you do see?

Thanks for this Kyle, I've been embedding Youtube videos for ages but I watched anyway. I like the option to uncheck the show video options at the end however when I go into my embed option I don't see the options as you do only the embed code. Is there a setting I need to change to see these?

Hey Fleur,

I too did not see those checkboxes either.

However, after checking a YouTube video out again, I noticed the scroll bar. LOL, I never noticed it before. Once I pulled the scroll bar down, the checkboxes were revealed. See screen print below...

Guess I've gotten lazy as the themes I use have their own insert videos scripting that I use and it deals with all of that.

Hope this helps you.

Great Training, Kyle!

If I wanted the video to fit full size of the page from side to side, is there an easy way to do that without having to mess with code?

The embed code that you grab will have the dimensions.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/VIDEO" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

These are the default. You can change this to any width you like.

To make your videos responsive (adjust depending on the screen size), you would have to edit the actual CSS code on your website. This is much more detailed, but there are lots of resources online that walk you through this.

Thanks, Kyle;

That doesn't sound too scary. lol

I'm not really afraid of doing simple things with code anymore. It's more a lack of knowledge and practice. I have a free site set up to practice on, so will try this out and do the suggested research.

Thanks again! :-)
