Hi, Marion. Thanks for replying to my question. I think I'll just stay on board. There's too much time invested to take the risk of losing everything. My "short" break will just be a "short" vacation, instead. You are always a great resource. Thanks so much for everything you do for WA.

You have 2 choices. Either point the name servers to where your website is hosted or ask site support to move your website from your current host to WA.

To change the name servers go to websites > site domains then click on details then name servers.

Hi, Marion. My site isn't WordPress and that's where I found, too late, that I can't transfer my site. So I guess I point the WA servers to the host. Thanks for the advice. As always, you are very helpful.

Hey Carol,

Here are Kyle's instructions: And, here's how you can transfer all of your website content BEFORE re-pointing your name servers: If you have ANY issues along the way, SiteSupport are VERY helpful: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/support

Hope you find this helpful.

Hi, Trish. My problem is my site isn't WordPress, which I found out is a problem after I transferred my domain to WA. The host said I either needed to have WA point the domain to my site or get another domain name, which I did. But then later they tell me this is going to cost me ALOT. I was pretty amazed when I saw their prices for the same thing we get at WA as premium members. WA is really the best deal around. Guess I'll try Site Support again. Thank you for your advice. Carol

Hmmmm, another story of a hosting service that is NOT good. Sorry to hear of your bad experience.

You could have copied and pasted your content into a newly created SiteRubix site and then transferred your domain name... at which time you could have easily transferred the SiteRubix site to your domain.

Hope you get this ironed out soon so you can focus on content.

You have a couple of options here:

1) Move the web site to WA
2) Point your domain to the host of your current website
3) Have Site support create A records to point www.yourdomain.com and whatever other x.yourdomain.com to the current host.

Options 2 and 3 will require your current host to accept those pointers and connect them to the correct site.

Hi. Thanks for the quick response. I tried #1, but have to completely rebuild my site in order to do so, which is what I'm trying to avoid. I will try your other suggestions.

Hi Carol

Everything will be preserved ... Content, setting, etc

Basically you are changing the "geographical location" of your site ... Nothing more ... You are moving your site from one server to another

Thanks for the reply. Well, I'm taking the plunge and crossing my fingers. I'll let you know how it works out.

Godspeed!

What is a transfer verification code. I cannot transfer my website without it.

Hello,

If you want to transfer your domain to another company, the other company may ask for an authorization code (also known as EPP codes or transfer keys) to verify that you own the domain name.
Be aware, your website should be eligible for transfer. All you have to check is:
1. Your domain was registered or transferred at least 60 days ago;
2. The domain is unlocked at the current Registrar (its Whois status should be OK or Active);

I hope it helps,
Maria

Hi Maria, Thanks for the reply. What I didn't do was unlock the registrar. Now I am waiting for updates. If all goes well, I will be up and running soon. Thanks again.

Hey Carol,

You registered your domain using a specific email address. That email address will be issued a verification code the server will automatically issue to you. You have to log into that email account and click on the verification link sent to that email address.

This is to prevent theft of a domain.

What happened to me is that I had mine registered to a different email address than the one I use daily. Until SiteSupport mentioned this to me, I kept saying I wasn't getting the verification code.

Once SiteSupport suggested that I may have used a different email address... well, don't you know... there was several copies of verification code emails (one for every try I made) waiting for me to click on one of them.

Hope you find this helpful.

Hi, Trish. After much searching, I found the instructions, but the code wasn't in my email. Thanks for the helpful reply. It sent me searching in a different direction. Now I am waiting for everything to update. Hope it all works.

Yeaaaah... you're on your way.

Nice when I can share my embarrassing boo-boo with others and it actually helps a person. You made my day... Thank YOU for letting me know!
