Do you like to say "welcome" to the new members?
I do. Why? Because it's an opportunity to see who referred them to Wealthy Affiliate. I always scroll down their profile, and most of the times I find Kyle's welcome message. But, there are also others members, in the same position.
What do I do then? I check their profile, and if they have published a website, I read an article or two. I want to see what are they doing/writing in order to gain referrals.
Do you welcome the new members? If you do, why?
I appreciate your answer and I wish you success in referring 300 people to WA (if your site is promoting our learning program). Las Vegas will be yours!

I welcome or leave a message for every person I follow or for every person who is following except if they haven't written anything in their profile or they are a shadow.
I don't welcome new members either. Have to draw a line somewhere, for me that is one line I don't cross
I am not active in welcoming new members, I do follow everyone back who follows me and offer them any help they need, personally. Therefore, I get a lot of help requests by PM, I simply haven't got the time to do more:)
In all honesty, I generally do not welcome new members. Sounds horrible, doesn't it?
But in truth, there is so much to learn and so much to do when you join WA until it can sometimes be overwhelming. So I honor new members with my silence and I don't bother them.
However, I'm always here to help and most people know all they have to do is PM me and I will bend over backward to get them headed in the right direction.
Am I the only one who views welcoming new members this way? :-)
Cathy, it is not at all a bad thing. Imagine a situation when all active members do that. It seems frightening for a newcomer, and we don't want them to leave our community, isn't so?
I try to welcome new members as much as possible to offer support , however there have been a lot of new members and unfortunately I cannot welcome them all!
Cheers, Lisa
Lisa, to say welcome to all seems impossible to me.
Do you know that there are two members who actually can do that (of course, except Kyle and Carson!)?
Hi Cristina, I always welcome new members just to let them know they can ask for help if needed :)
I like to welcome newcomers to WA, because I was in that position myself. It is a bold step they have made and it is always warming to know that someone recognises that.
Thank you, Harvey, for your comment!
I remember when I signed up, was impressed by the giant wave of "welcome."

That's a good tactic, Christina. Very smart and thanks for visiting my website ;)
