Here Comes Irma!

Here's what we're facing in the next few days in sunny Florida, folks!

Not a happy sight!

Lots of really bad weather...

185 mile per hour winds-a Category 5 Hurricane!

A 30 foot high storm surge!

Up to 20 inches of rain in some areas!

Already, it is very hard to find water, gasoline, generators, etc. Food and other items have been depleted from the grocery store shelves.

People are gratefully waiting in line more than an hour at the few stations that have gas.

People fleeing South Florida and the Keys have now clogged major roads in Central and North Florida, at times slowing transportation to a halt, even on interstate highways.

Many people have elected to "ride out the storm," rather than face the possibility of being stuck in traffic when the storm hits, or worse, running out of gas on the road, and being unable to refill!

All we can do is prepare our properties the best we can, have alternate means of cooking and lighting our homes, and watch the situation as it develops.

We pray that the hurricane will be pushed out to sea.

Sometimes in our lives we face such a formidable foe that it immediately commands all our focus and determination. These situations usually do not last long, but they can have a lasting impact on our lives, especially if we are ill-prepared!

Good evening Rick,

Miguel was right if you are warned then better be prepared.
I have a friend in Tampa, 1 in Stuart and a couple who live in Okeechobee. It is all very frightening and I pray Irma takes a detour out to sea. No Global warming/Climate change, of course.
Where do you live?

All the best, greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

I'm in New Port Richey, in the Tampa Bay area, on the West coast.

That is scary, Rick. I do pray the sea will swallow this terrible thing.
And still you be prepared-as you say it's half the victory.
The major thing is the trees. Get them cut down if possible, especially the old ones.
Then, windows. Protect them with plywood panels or shutters.
Make sure there are no loose objects in the rooms.

I've got many trees, Vera, and I can't cut them all down. If I get smashed by a tree, go back and reread The Cypress that I wrote, and say what a Nostradamus that Rick was! :)

Ri-i-i-i-ck! You are a terrible man!!!No more "likes" from me to you!!!!

Take care Rick, I hope she's weakened the time she arrives at Florida

Thanks, Loes-Me, too! :)

Take care Rick. Looking forward to hearing about it when you can get back here to WA!!! :o) Praying for your safety.

Thank you so much, Paula! :)

Thank you for sharing Rick.

Also wanted to share something with folks who might want to here more and possibilities why this is happening.
This is still regarding Hurricane Harvey but applies to Irma as well: https://www.contendingfortruth.com/end-time-current-events-9-4-17-part-1/

I like the light, Kamil. Thanks for sharing, and God bless!

God bless you Rick and stay safe.

I live in the northern part of North Carolina. Days ahead of time I just found out about an hour ago that our state's Governor has already declared a state of emergency. He was telling everyone to be prepared even if the storm will have been downgraded by weather experts as it makes its way up the coast..

I was in Connecticut in Oct. of 1985 when Hurricane Gloria ripped through that state. It had been downgraded to at most a Category 1 hurricane as it made its way up the U.S. Eastern seaboard and up into New England.

In what I still recall a few days later I had to drive my car some 20 or so miles to pick up my mother at a nearby airport as she had gone to a nursing seminar in Washington D.C for several days. She actually was in our nation's capitol when the hurricane went through. I remember my mom telling me that Whitney Houston's backup band was actually on her flight from Washington D.C. back to Connecticut. However, the now deceased singer herself was not on my mom's plane on that flight as knowing my mom for the way she was her entire life she would have gotten Whitney's autograph.

Anyway traveling along one of two main streets that bisected the entire town from West to East in heading out to the airport it resembled a war zone with large trees that had been uprooted and lay toppled across the sidewalks bordering the road. Only by the Grace of God, I recall that in the town no one perished. Everyone had prepared ahead of time.

Experiencing the heavy wind and rain, followed by the eerie calm as the storm's eye passed right over us only to be immediately followed by the back edge of the hurricane passing through was something that I will always remember.

Hopefully everyone from Florida heading north up the coast will pay heed to this hurricane.

That's a powerful description of a storm. Hope it will not be repeated.

It's very scary, Jeff. Thanks for sharing your experience!

For sure! :)

wow that looks scary, stay safe

Thank you, Luba. :)

Yes, we are preparing in NC as well. Irma is taking the exact path that Hugo took in '89, and we had major damage as far inland as I am.

Our stores are emptying at an alarming rate too. Gas was already skimpy due to the flooding in Texas and Louisianna.

Just going to get stocked up, battened down and wait!!!

Be safe my friend!!!!

T

You, too, Tammi! :)

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

T

Man this one was horrible

Looks pretty bad, my friend!

Batten down the hatches here Rick! Gonna ride it out! Hopefully, as you say will keep heading east out into the ocean! I-95 and I-75 are moving slow from what I hear! Hopefully, you are safe! Vera and I were wondering about Ya! That thing is a monster!

Hoping to make it through OK, Cindy! Stay safe! :)
