Pretty Soon I'll Be Full Time

I currently work at an elementary school. I enjoy working with the kids, but it's really, really boring and my creative juices are going to waste there! I also make very little pay. However, the hours are nice.

But, last night my husband told me not to go back to the school next year. (I was secretly hoping he would eventually say this.) He's going to give me 1 year to produce enough income to get us ahead. And if I can't, I have agreed to go back to a regular 9-5 job.

Eeek. I hate working in an office, so this is super motivation for me.

So soon enough (in about 3 more months), I'll have lots of extra hours to dedicate to my business. I will officially be a full-time blogger/affiliate marketer / network marketer.

It's both scary and exciting.

For those of you who already do this full time, where should I focus most of my time? Any advice for me?

Make a plan of each step in order, so that you know exactly what you want to do, then execute it. Start choosing the products you want to promote and the source of those products (hint - Amazon only has a one day cookie and some of the lowest commission rates in the industry). I can help you ID some merchants if you wish, as I work for the Awin.com affiliate network. Think about topics to write blog posts about - make a list of them so that you've got that ready for when you've got the time. Sounds like a lot of fun to me!!!

Well, I have my website already and it's going pretty well! I meant more like what should my days look like? How can I fully utilize my time so that I don't get sidetracked? But thanks for your perspective!

I can take a look at Awin.com too. :)

Spend some time each day on writing content, keyword research, and identifying potential merchants. Mix it up so you always feel fresh. Allow time for play as well - it gives your brain a chance to relax.

I am still new but I find most helpful is focusing it on content

Yes, that's my favorite part of all of this, so that's a good thing!

Keep discipline and give it full gas. Then it will probably succeed. Well you have a man who supports you

Thank you! I need all the support I can get!

Hats off to your husband for his support.
I think you two will be in vegas!

Practically an ideal situation- give all your time to blogging being understood and supported by your husband! Good luck to you!:)

Yes, it's a great situation to be in! I need to take full advantage!

:))

WOW!!! That you have the support of your husband is tremendous, Christina!

Alas, I am not a full-timer yet, but you have already heard it from the master, so there's nothing more I need to add.

All the best to you, Christina!

Thanks, he's a great guy to have by my side! I appreciate your well wishes. :)

This is exciting, and I think this natural pressure if you harness it properly will truly lead to a great deal of progress in the year ahead!

You should focus most of your time and energy on tasks that will equate to more traffic. Traffic is the source of opportunity, so that needs to be your primary focus.

If you don't have a budget to PAY for traffic, which you are not expected to, then content and getting rankings in Google should be your immediate focus.

As a secondary, you could focus on becoming great with ONE social media platform (Facebook is probably best in the first year, but it depends on your niche).

And then focus on building a brand. Your website is your business and your brand, and if you treat it that way you will be much more successful online.

Of course, as you build out your website do let us know if you need a hand with anything at all, or if you need suggestions we will be here to offer you those.

Hi Kyle - in what part of your training do you focus on paying for traffic? I’m on course 5.

Thx! Lyndsay

Thanks so much, Kyle! So it sounds like content is #1. That's good because I love writing, so that's easy for me. I have been working on my site for a while now, and it's coming along nicely.

I'm working on getting my brand out there and getting in front of the right people on social media. Admittedly, I'm trying to build up with Instagram, Twitter, Facebook AND Pinterest. I'm not doing any of the quickly though, of course since it's 4 at once. Oopsies! :)

What do you think about going to events, maybe even doing some talks, etc? Do you think face-to-face is important? To get my brand out there more?
