My confession for Sunday.

Happy Sunday everyone.

My confession for this Sunday.....

I struggle to promote my Wealthy Affiliate website with my friends because I have not made any money.

There...it is out.

Even though I am not expecting to have made any money yet as I have only been here 3 months, I still seem to have this idea that to say I am a succeeding at Wealthy Affiliate, and to try to reach people and have them join our wonderful community as well, before I have earned anything, it sort of like false advertising.

I would love to know if anyone else has felt this way before making money, and if so, what did you do to overcome it?

Looking forward to hearing your confessions too!!!!!

Best to you all, and happy weekend.

Cindy xo

Greetings Cindy~

If you have a history of wrestling with gurus' scammy products and you're impressed with the organization and resources you've seen here, share that.

More importantly, consider the "come learn with me" line of conversation. That's what we do here, and your friends may enjoy the opportunity as well.

Let them play in the water for free, and if they like it as you did, they can wade in further!

Dennis

Thanks Dennis, more valuable advice, great thoughts. :)

Cindy, I can't help you with your friends or family......I've burned all my bridges with past shiny objects!!

However, I would emphasise that you are in the "learning all about marketing online" phase and that it's about building your site and improving your knowledge, not earning money.

After all, if you were 3 months into your 3 year college course, would your family think you were wasting your time because you hadn't made any money from your chosen subject?

Just let them know what you're doing, maybe send them a link by way of an explanation and say you'd be happy to talk about it if they're interested.......no hype, no pressure, very soft but at least they now know.

Chances are they'll ask you how's it going and then you can enthuse about the training and support but emphasise there's no expectancy to earn anything for a while yet!

Just my thoughts Cindy, hope you can get around your little problem but at least you got it off your chest!

Well done :-)
Mark

Hehehe thanks Mark, sometimes making the confession leads to the answers!!!! Thanks for the advice. :)

You're welcome Cindy but you've had plenty of good answers here so you should be covered...

....good luck and like Loes says, when you get your first supercar your friends and family will be begging you to let them on board!!
Mark

I am yet to mention things to my friends and family because unfortunately while they think they may b being 'helpful' and understandably with many scams out there, it just ends up all negative - which I can do without !
I know they mean well but this is something I'm focusing on without their imput...for now.
I'm all about the focus and the community here is so big, keep at what you're doing because you ARE succeeding !
Have a great positive day !

I hear you, and little do we need dream crushing from friends and family. Mine thankfully have all been very supportive. I am unsure if they think it will go somewhere, but am happy they are positive.

We are indeed succeeding, thanks for the reminder.

Great day to you too. :)

Friends and family always give you the look, you know, the one that asks "Are you really that stupid?" I can't really blame them, though, with all the crap that is peddled on the internet, a lot of it they have already tried.

So it's probably best to wait until they ask "How can you afford all those fancy new clothes?" before you tell them what you are doing.

Gary

I am not promoting WA to family and friends yet, when I buy myself a BMW cabrio, they will come and follow me ;)

Love it!!!! :)

You are not alone Cindy! But the secret is in focusing on the training. Don't get so caught up with sharing your link... this is part of it, but the training will help you build one brick at a time to eventually become very successful. Aim to keep a balance between the two.

Don't give up, and like someone else mentioned in the comments, be honest. You have to build trust with the people you are appealing to. This is not a get rich quick scheme, in fact the opposite.

It takes A LOT of hard work to get to the point where you start earning a good income.

Take courage! You're in a community of caring and ever-willing to help group of people who have your best interests at heart. If you need any help, let me know, I'll do my best to assist you.

Keep on keeping on!

Thank you, you are exactly right. Many times I have re-directed myself by going back to the training rather than other things. It just gets so exciting here that i want to learn everything at once!!! I am for sure in it for the long run. Thanks for the offer of assistance, I will certainly keep it in mind. :)

When opening or in this case starting a business, you are operating on faith- and that is what you need to carry you through. Do not hesitate to be honest with your friends that you are still building. This is a legitimate opportunity, founded on the principle of starting at the ground and building. You have a learning curve to make it through, If you had a retail store, you would have to learn what to stock and what your customers want and buy! In this case you produce the content to keep the interest going. Review information given here, you will succeed.
Sami

Thanks Sami, great perspective, and just what I was hoping for, a perspective to see a different way.

Hello Cindy,
I had this same problem and did not talk with any one about WA for years because I was not making a killing at it.
I discovered if they are truly interested in learning what you have to say or what you are doing in your life they will listen, if they don't then they aren't interested.
Goes to the fear of criticism, we all have it, it is very difficult to over come because we value the opinions of our friends.
The best way to over come is just give them the URL to your website(s) and tell them to check out what it is you have been doing.
I found out what I feared was all in my head, most where amazed at me being able to do what it is I do and some interested to the point I built websites for them.
I also write content for others who already had websites. So you are going to have to breathe and jump because there is no other way to get over it.

San

Thanks San....as always....at my service. I love that!!!

This can be a long journey ... see where you're at next Sunday ...

Hehehe thanks :)
