Hi everyone. I have just changed my url to one that is a .com for my old one which was .press

Is it best for the site title to match the url, or can I go with the old on

Remember the permalink as well.
Robert

They should be relevant to each other but do not need to be an exact match

Cool, thanks :)

Hi everyone

In trying to refine my niche further, now that I know a little more about what I am doing, I wanted to know if the name of my domain was best to match the na

One thing I always recommend is getting a .com if possible. Domains like .press really won't rank all that well unfortunately and although there are lots of cool options out there, .com, .org and .net domains are really the only ones that stand much of a chance of ranking in Google.

I have written a discussion on the topic of domain selection and I think that this will help anyone out that has any confusion about choosing a domain name:

Thanks Kyle. I have spent the better part of my day changing my domain name from the .press to a .com, and am feeling much better about refining my niche even further now that I have. I new sense of direction is now in play.

Quick answer: They don't need to match. You just need effective branding.

All the best.

Evan

Thanks Evan for stopping in and sharing with me.

Cindy did you mean transformyourlife? Perhaps ofrm was a typeo, I tried again and Google won't bring it up. :(

Yes I did mean transformyourlife. Hehe sorry about that!

Hi Cindy, how are you? I clicked the url above and got nothing but many different suggestions, search engine confusion, the last thing you want. Kyle is very big on .com's because it will rank better. Also I believe his advise was to name your site the same as your url except the site name MUST be spelled correctly. I just put this up, notice the url is a .com and the site name is the same but with proper spelling. I still have to build it! lol Just wondering what the url is you have, it's hard to understand, this could be me. This is what I just did onlinebusiness-done-right.com I wanted to save you hours of work if something can be fixed now!
Best :)

Thanks William for your effort in trying to help. It is Transform Your Life. I have a dot com up my sleeve that I can use. Such a hard decision to make when I still have so much to learn.

The experts are saying Yeah, yesterday, but not so much today.

Today search algorithms are basically saying "don't try to be my friend" so anything you do to gain the favor of search engines can actually make them ignore you even more.

There is value in a url that makes sense to people, though. When a SERP is presented to a visitor and they scan the page a relevant url name can improve the odds of a click through.

Think people first, and let the search engine figure it out later.

Thanks Gary. I think I will just go with what I have for now, and see what unfolds. Always so many things to take me off task, especially when I am partial to distractions!!!! Have a great weekend.

I agree Cindy - go with what your have.

Now I'm curious, and have to go look up "hot yoga"!

Best of luck building your site!

Dennis

Thanks Dennis. :)
