The Lovely Silence of My Ad Blocker
One of the places I write for is Examiner.com, a contemporary news site with lots of celeb and sports news, among other things. A few years back, they put some of the most annoying moving ads on that site. I couldn’t concentrate enough to proof my own work, so I downloaded an ad blocker on both Chrome and Firefox.
Turn It Off
When I’m working on my websites here at WA, however, I oftentimes need to turn the ad blocker off to see the ads I’m working with. What I see with that baby turned off simply amazes me! How can anybody think straight?
Ackkkkkk!!!
Suddenly, my Facebook page is a whirlwind of activity. Twitter is hopping. Google+ is moving. And every time I bring up a website or page, things start talking to me. UGH It’s enough to make an old lady pull out her last gray hair!
Sometimes I leave it off. Why? To appreciate the quiet when I turn it on once again.
I Want It My Way!
Okay. Admittedly, I’m a bit of an old fart. If I want my ads to start talking to me, I’ll click a button. If I want my videos to start without me, I’ll do the same thing. If I want to see bodacious ta-tas jumping up and down in front of my face, I’ll go to those sites. Yes, some ads are R-rated and moving quickly towards X!
They Can Have It
I know that today’s younger folks like the chaos. I wish I could understand why. I don’t. Nobody has yet been able to explain it to my satisfaction, either.
I guess the moral of this story is. . . I heart my ad blocker!!!
I doubt I could work online for too long without it. If I didn't have an ad blocker, I would probably have to put Bose noise canceling headphones on just to be able to work. As for what I’d do for the visual noise, I’m not entirely sure.
Just Like. . .
Almost bothers me as much as a subscription block popping up in my face after I've read two lines of something I’m interested in. But that’s for another story.

The advantage of blond hair is that the gray is just a "highlight". However, please remember that women are like fine wine, we don't get older, we get better. Those are my stories and I'm stickin' to them. :-)
Natural highlights, Debbi! God has thought of and provided everything for our enjoyment. His is awesome!
My ad popup blocker gives me the option to make an exception for a particular website such as Wealthy Affiliate while still working the rest of the time. You might want to research to find one that allows for the occasional exception without having to turn the whole thing. I definitely agree that life is more peaceful with my ad blocker turned on most of the time.

hahaha, that's so true.
I think the 'younger folks' like the chaos because they spend most of their time playing video games, so it's normal to them. But I don't like it either.
Never thought of that, but you could be right!
