This is crazy: .99 domains!
What's up everyone, Buck Taylor here with some great info for you.
I wanted to share with all of you a great deal that you all can benefit from. 1and1 is a domain and hosting service provider and they currently have domains available for .99 cents a year!
Yes I did just say that, .99 Cents for a whole year!
But that's not all; they are also including their basic hosting package for no additional cost. That's a hosting plan with domain name for just .99 cents a year.
OK, enough with my sales pitch... I'm practicing for the big show.
Serious though, I've been using 1and1 for the past 7 years and they really are a good hosting company. I've used them for every one of my personal sites as well as my client’s sites and I've never had a problem with them. So if you need to get a few domains for your sites you should check them out.
Hosting your sites here on WA is a great option but I still suggest including the hosting package just in case you need it. It won’t cost you anymore and you can still point your domain to the server here if you choose.
So anyway, hope that helps you save a little money. I know domains generally don’t cost a lot anyway but every dollar saved helps!

What a swingin' thread ~ for .99c I'm riskin' it.
Cheers for this community minded announcement Buck.
(I'll be back if they screw me ~ lol. Glad I'm not the only one around getting some indifferent grats for free info delivered in good faith ;) )
Thanks... If you get screwed I'm sure it's something you did! lol
Joking!
Seriously though, their system is based on an "auto pay" feature like most other hosting service providers so if you want to cancel you need to either log into your account, go to Contract Data and click the button that says "Cancellation" or you need to call their billing department and cancel it over the phone.
In the internet world, never assume anything gets cancelled automatically if you don't pay.
Note to Thomas: I'm not poking at you or making fun, I understand you had a bad experience and I respect your opinion and feelings. I'm just making a reference to what happened to you so maybe I can prevent someone else from having the same bad experience.
Yeah Buck, I've quite a list of standing orders on my Paypal Ac - I just keep a spread sheet is all, no surprises that way ~ cheers
this is an interesting thread, thanks for posting and commenting- it is amazing how we can have such different experiences of the same companies!
I know right... but all companies no matter how good they are will have unhappy customers. I know that one first hand.
I really dislike 1&1, I will not buy another domain from them ever again.
Let's just say that if you buy a domain and at some point want to cancel it, don't assume that by not paying the registration fees it will automatically cancel it.
Nope, they'll automatically "renew" it for you and send you all kind of nasty emails telling you that you need to pay the registration fees otherwise they'll report it to the credit bureaus.
Most other registrars will just let it expire.
Another thing I didn't like about 1&1 is how long it took the domain servers to resolve. I didn't like waiting around for hours waiting to access my website just because I changed the name server.
Wow... so sorry you had this experience with them. I've never had a problem canceling a domain or anything with them.
I don't represent 1and1, I'm not even an affiliate of theirs, and I certainly can't guarantee that everyone will be happy with their service; so I'm wont try and convince anyone to try them.
However, I'm a satisfied customer of 7 years and think the deal is a good one for those who need a few domains with hosting and don't have a lot of money to spend.
Yes and No...
You can only take advantage of the deal when you buy one at a time. So for example, in the last few days I've purchased 5 domains with hosting plans one at at time and got the deal on all of them.
I should also mention this if you decide to give them a try. You first choose your domain name and then after that step is when they offer the hosting at no cost.
They will offer you two plans, one is a "Site Builder Plan" and one is their "Basic Hosting Plan." Make sure to choose the Basic Plan.
