My 1 Unbelievable Secret of Success
Okay I am going to break down and tell you my secret.
People ask me on a regular basis, “What is the one thing that helped you build your online business?” “What took you from losing money every month to earning high 4 figures or low 5 figures every month? How did you do it?”
I know that think they want my secret source of traffic or they want what secret I use to build landing pages that convert. Maybe they want to know how I write ad copy that converts.
I know that is what they are wanting but that is not my secret. When I give them my secret they don’t want to believe it. It is too simple.
Is not some super-secret traffic website, it is not some SEO secret, it is not a secret copywriting psychological trick?
All it is!
Okay I will tell you!
It is only a piece of paper.
That is all. A simple piece of paper.
That is what took me from being way below $0.00 each month to quitting my job teaching.
Okay, so now you know my secret you can go and do the same. A piece of paper will take you from broke to a very good life financially.
So, there you are I am glad I could help. I know that secret will help you just like it did me. Leave any comments down below.
Wait!
What?
Oh! I didn’t tell what the piece of paper was for.
Ah! you want to know that
Gee you want a lot I told you the secret.
Okay, Okay, here is the rest of it.
I keep a piece of paper on my desk. When I am working on something and I see something else I need to do, I do not stop what I am doing I make a note of it.
If I think of a keyword I write it on the piece of paper but I do not go and check on the keyword right then.
For instance, I am spending these thirty minutes checking emails. Suddenly I think of something I need to do or something I want to learn more about. I don’t stop checking emails I make a note of it on the piece of paper.
Let’s say you are here at Wealthy Affiliate working through the training. You have dedicated the next hour to doing the training and doing the steps. While sitting there suddenly, this great long tail keyword pops in your mind. Instead of stopping what you are doing and going to do the keyword research you write it on the piece of paper and keep doing the training.
You are doing the training then you get notified that someone left a comment on your profile and off you go to answer the comment. No! You make a note on the list so you remember later and keep focused on what you are doing.
Some of my biggest ideas or ideas that made me the most money started on that piece of paper.
What do I do with the piece of paper at the end of the day?
I have finished my work for the day. Before I quit I take what is on that paper and transfer it on to another page in the order that I want to work on what is on the list tomorrow.
From that page, I just transferred it to along with my daily task I have my work list for the next. When I start work the next day I get out my task I came up with the day before, my daily task list and another blank piece of paper to write down what comes to me today.
This one thing has made me more money than anything else I have done. It was only when I started doing that did I get control of my business and was able to keep it moving forward like I wanted to.
There you have it, my #1 secret for making you money.

Yea, your blog title caught my attention. So I stopped and read it. Makes a lot of sense. What came to mind as I was reading was ... KISS.
Could the process of developing a successful internet business really be this simple? I don't think so, but this action certainly helps keep you focused and efficient while executing your daily plan of action.
I enjoyed the read.
Building a business takes a lot of work and learning. If you boil it down to one sentence it is, "Find what works and do it."
Excellent post. As a newbie I quickly learned the dangers of time wasters and distractions. I've put some "defences" in place but this suggestion is so simple, yet I can see it will be so very effective.
I plan or script my next day at the end of each day so having this "list" will be a nice compliment to that effective process.
Thanks for this!
Ralph
Good to know that my list - making habit that everyone teases me about will be useful :-)
I'm very forgetful and a little ADD and OCD. List- making alleviates my anxiety while, at the same time, keeping me focused. And key for me here at WA is taking actual NOTES ON PAPER. Not screen shots to go back and dig through later. Writing things down brings them to life for me and also helps me to remember them.
I keep a spiral notebook for something new I am learning and write down what I learn about that subject. That way it is not scattered around in a lot of different places but in one notebook.
For instance I have a spiral notebook for keywords and one for niches.
Then when I am ready I take what is the notebook and put it on the computer for a file. Doing that makes me go over the information again and reminds me of what I learned.
Yes, exactly! I have an addiction to writing materials and break out a new notebook with every new feat. Very gratifying and useful at the same time!
I hear you! I feel much more in control of my life if I write down all the steps I need to take to get ready for an event for example. I was planning my Mom's birthday recently and wrote down each detail since I am feeling overwhelmed with moving, job etc at the moment. I wrote down card, make reservation, wrapping, invite friends etc.
If I go on a trip I write down everything I need to pack ahead of time so I don't have to be worried about forgetting something on the last day.
Girl, yeeeeessss! That's interesting to me that we share that same trait. I get picked on so much because of it. I feel drawn to you with this connection, and you're the first I've experienced that with since I've been here (yesterday). If you don't mind my asking, what category is your niche in? You don't have to be too detailed if you don't want to. I understand. Oh, and I have a question. Are we allowed to follow each others blogs, etc? Or is that a big no-no?
By the way, my name is Ashley :-)
Hi Ashley,
You can follow all you want! My niche is pet health and behavior. I found some amazing supplements etc that have been great for my cats. They are sold for dogs as well. They saved us thousands in vet bills and my vet actually recommends the supplements to others now since they work so well. You can go to my website if you click on the link under my profile.
I also want to start a niche site in human health and nutrition. That was my original goal but pets seemed easier to start with. I take numerous supplements since I had vitamin and mineral deficiencies. I have learned that is actually very common now in the U.S. and western countries. Due to overuse of soil, industrial farming practices, pesticides, processed food, chemicals in water etc. etc. many common health conditions are developing that can be treated with supplements such as D, Bs, magnesium etc.
I am surprised you get made fun of for writing lists. Is seems so organized and logical. I actually don't use them enough!
I will follow you here.
I hope we keep in touch!
Jessica
It's not so much that I make lists, really. It's the degree of my list - making. I collect writing materials, always have a notebook and pen in hand, I never throw them away, my purse and car are FULL of them. I love to write, regardless of what aspect. Hopefully, this will give me the platform my heart really desires.
We don't currently have any pets, but we will hopefully be adding a puppy to the family soon once we happen upon one that's fits into my beautiful disaster. As far as my niche, I'm hoping to target stay at home moms wanting to work at home, helping them supplement income and save money finding great deals until they reach their goal.
And I definitely want to stay in touch! :-D
Sounds good. I have heard it is easier to start with a non- marketing niche but I don't know from experience. There is a ton of competition in the work from home field. There are some amazing success stories here from both marketing and non-marketing niches though.
Your list making should come in very handy here! There is a lot to learn and keep track of. I need to write it all down as I stumble upon it. I have not been doing that as much as I should. It is very easy to get sidetracked and go down rabbit holes.
Agreed! Right now I'm stuck on naming my daggum site :-( Since I plan to purchase one soon, I'm just going with first thing I can think of. Poo on it.
I would be careful about that. I think a name is important. I did keyword research first before buying a domain. You need to look at what other sites are already out there so you don't get into copyright issues for one thing. You may or may not want a name similar to another site's name.
You want a name that is easy to remember if possible. A short name is better than a long one. It should be logical or memorable. A big, long, confusing name won't be remembered.
It is great if your name can also be a keyword so if someone searches for something your website pops us.
Don't get in a rush here. This is an important step. There should be trainings on this if you search in the white bar at the top of your screen.
Excellent because it is about our to do list and how we handle it and take control...Don't let that thoughts stop your focus at the time. thank you ...remember to follow up. Writing it down is the key to remember or you will most likely never think of it again.
I know there a lot of good ideas that would have made me money that flitted away because I did not write them down.
Earl Nightingale talked about it in his famous CD Lead the Field. If we want to accomplish all tasks at once we can be crazy. One step at the time and all things will be done. It resonates with your advice here.
All the best, be healthy and wealthy, Nemira.
Great to hear. His voice is soothing, I always when stressed, put on his CD. Just I wonder why some many people do not know about him, especially millenniums.
Regards, Nemira.
Thank you so much for this! I have been feeling totally overwhelmed with all I'm learning and skidding off in different directions all the time!
Just this morning, I did what you say here. I have my To Do list, and a list of ideas which came to me when I couldn't sleep last night.
I am so glad I found this! It is literally what I was doing while getting started training, and the flow of ideas that came to mind were shocking. The only difference is that I have them all written down now, where in the past they would have just been a fleeting thought. Thank you for this!
It is amazing what we can come up with and if we don't write it down later we do not remember the idea. Shuts down the creative flow within us. Keep the flow going.
Bo,
This is good news to me. I find myself often jumping up from whatever Im doing because a keyword, or idea came to me. I need to get a little more organized though because often I grab whatever piece of paper I can find to write on.
I like the "to do list " idea too. I will start that right away.
Thanks... for sharing your secret to success.

It really is the biggest secret to my success. I used to do exactly what you are talking about.
It is a really good idea, that is what happen to me i get distracted very easy. I was wondering this morning about how to keep focus, because like you said. I am doing something and then an idea comes to my mind and I just drop what I am doing to check on that and suddenly I am lost and then I don't finish or it will take me longer to do it. Great secret! Thank you for sharing it! :)
Aracely
Aracely it is amazing how quick we get pulled away from what we are doing. I went through the same thing you are talking about. This is what stopped it for me.

It really is that simple, isn't it, Bo? I learned that concept myself only because I would think of things I needed to do and later, could not recall what it was that I was thinking about...that I needed to do.
A piece of paper answered the call and "lo and behold"...instant memory...in writing!
When God invented the inventors of paper, they all had my forgetfulness in mind. :-)
