Add A Little Sense Of Humor For A Lot Of Motivation
Good Morning All,
I received a comment from MarieKi the other day, (I hope you don't mind me mentioning you Marie), where she remarked that I had had an interesting previous career and life.
This must have been playing on my subconscious because I woke up this morning thinking about something that occurred every Wednesday morning on my last Project.
I was living in Singapore working on the design of a Gas Plant to be built in Papua New Guinea. We had a conference call every Wednesday morning which involved participants from Singapore, USA, Australia and PNG.
These calls were to discuss the previous weeks achievements and the following weeks schedule, and quite often resulted in a few people having their A** kicked for missing targets and generally costing the Project either time or money.
After a few weeks I noticed that, although these reprimands were an essential part of the business to ensure progress, they had a deflating effect on the individuals concerned.
With this in mind the following week, after all the business had been taken care of and a few A***s were kicked once again, I suggested that everyone in the room, in all locations, told around the table the first short joke that came to mind.
10 minutes later the atmosphere at the end of that conference call was completely different, even the recipients of the A** kicking were disconnecting with a smile on their face.
I kept that joke session as the final chapter of our calls from then on, and the difference in peoples frame of mind was unbelievable. The people who knew they still had issues to resolve from the previous week were still leaving the table smiling, which resulted in a much more positive attitude within everyone.
Remember, on average it takes 12 muscles to smile and 11 to frown, so you're getting a bit of your daily excercise as well :-).
Thanks Marie for bringing this thought back to me and as a Thank You I've added a few one liners that removed the frown from my face this morning, if I can make one person smile my time has not been in vain.
Thank You All
Billy

Thanks Billy:) And when you want to make God laugh, tell your plans:)
When laughing you only use 15 facial muscles and most of them relax, while when you frown you use about the same, but they will tighten.
Thanks Loes,
I agree but hopefully you use the smile muscles much more than the frown :-)
