How Do You Promote Your Youtube Channel?
Hey guys!
As some of you already know I recently created a youtube channel where I do halloween/artistic/every day makeup tutorials.
.
If you have achieved 1000 subscribers and above, would you mind sharing your experience with us?
I know it works the same way as a website : content, content, content and quality content (although some popular channels are really stupid and a lot of people seem to enjoy it lol but anyway....). So I am already working on that and adding content at least twice a week.
But maybe you are more experienced with youtube than me and you know where to promote your channel, other than on your facebook page etc...?
I recently joined a makeup forum and created a profile there, added pictures of my makeups and a link to my channel... Then I started blogging there and leaving comments on other people's blog posts... Do you think it's a good idea or just a waste of time?
I have also created a website, linked to my channel and I add content to it every time I make a video but also keyword-based content, that has nothing to do with the videos but that are in the makeup/cosmetic/beauty niche.
I really can't think of any other way to promote my channel but I suppose there are more... right? lol
Any tips or advice will be greatly appreciated! =)
Thanks!
Sarah

You have it pretty well covered except for face to face stuff. I use youtube for help with things, but I have never thought of setting up my own channel. Pretty interesting.
Hey, Dr. J, that was pretty funny, the make up girl is covered with face to face stuff...just sayin...lol..
You could join some groups related to makeup on Facebook and then post your videos there, it helps a lot!!
I am already doing that and it does bring traffic although maybe i'm not posting enough there...
I also joined groups where people share their youtube channel and it works as well
I guess it just takes time to grow a youtube channel =) just like a website
Thanks =)
Cheers
Sarah
Yeah and making videos is definitely time taking, just keep posting :)
It has to grow in time:)
Yeah it does take time lol... doing prior research, setting everything up (the light, the products you are going to use), doing the video, cleaning up the mess, editing the video, uploading it...
I will just keep adding content =)
I think you are already doing great.
It does take time before Youtube really trusts you and sends you more visitors/ranks you higher.
A small thing:
When I went to your WA profile to look for your channel, I noticed the very ugly link. lol
Since you already have quite a few subscribers, you can change your Youtube URL.
If I remember correctly you can already do that with only 5 subscribers.
I am on my phone at the moment, but I am sure you can find on Google how to get a personalized Youtube URL. You can do that directly on Youtube.
Your URL will be much prettier then, easier to remember and more professional, too. ;)

I know it's so ugly lol... I want to change it but I haven't figured out how to lol... I will check again right now !
Thanks a lot for the advice!
yes I just found it and did it! MagicMakeupWithSarah looks better than all these numbers and letters lol cool thanks a lot!! =D
yay exactly ! I love these small "insignificant" changes because they are one small step closer to success =D
thanks you have been very very helpful with this
Well, for many people it is a milestone to reach 100 subscribers. It depends on the content. Your topic might fly high because it is sort of a primary interest of almost all women (except myself). Our content about philosophy and changing the world has much less traction as most people are concerned with their own little world and don't care what is happening around them....
Hmmm I do care about what is happening around me. I am an animal and nature lover, I give money monthly to charity and regularly help clean beaches or forests... I love love philosophy and am constantly reading a lot about science and sociology and religion and history...
But yeah, I do have a passion for makeup transformation lol and I would like to monetize that passion, so I can earn a living with it. I don't see anything wrong with it lol.
Just because someone loves makeup doesn't mean they don't want to change the world. Don't judge a book by its cover =)
Many people are shallow and don't care about our planet but many of us do care, although they are passionate about what may seem like a primary interest to you =)
Cheers
Sarah
No, don't worry, I don't mean that there is anything wrong with it. Most women want to look pretty and coloring oneself is an ancient way of appearing attractive or whatever.
I just said that I don't do it - and with many like me the cosmetic industry would get bankruptcy....
It is a good thing to point to that market to make money - and I wish you a quick success. And I believe you will have it. Wouldn't be the same if you pointed on people's consciousness to preserve Nature by using less energy and so on. Deeper stuff doesn't sell too well.
Yes I agree, deeper stuff doesn't sell too well ... But I wouldn't want to make money with deeper stuff anyway lol.
I would just want to get an audience and get people to change the world. Hand in hand.
I am sure we can change the world.. it actually takes few people to change other people's consciousness... And with today's media it's easy to spread a message.
When I have more free time I will dedicate my time to animals and protecting our forests and oceans... this is something I really look forward to. If I can contribute, even at a very small scale, I will die in peace lol
That sounds wonderful. There is a lot to do and many things are going on without our knowledge, secretly, in service to very few people and at the cost of our planet - and our health. (we are presently consuming 1.5 of our planet, means that we are already eating it up.)
I am following Dutchsinse and his earthquake forecasts on Youtube. I am learning a lot about our planet. If you are interested, join him. He is attacked by mainstream science who - it must be so - are financed by oil companies. Because they don't like him to talk about the connection of drilling, fracking and earthquakes and vulcano eruptions. He shows how the pressure is moving inside the earth and where it comes out. Unfortunately also Google is partial and cuts off his livestreams, about 5 times since I am following after the big earthquake here in Italy.
Much oceans in the earth. Have a look there. It is super interesting
I will follow him, he sounds like the kind of person I love to listen to and learn from.
I hate oil companies and phamarceutical ones as well. I wish we would just go back to eating things that grow in our countries naturally, using only what we need and not consuming and throwing away because television says so... I also hate television ahah
I am watching a beautiful documentary at the moment, made by the BBC : Planet Earth. It is devided into several episodes, each focusing on specific aspects of the planet such as the streams, the oceans, the forests, the deserts, the poles... it's fascinating but also very sad what we are doing to the planet :(
We have no idea about the beauty and the creativity of our planet and of all beings. When you think only on what a cell is doing in the body, completely self organising by doing its task. We are inside of a miraculous self-organising system - and we think to be ablt to dominate it by introducing randomly something which might help, somehow, but mainly upsets the balance. Our beautiful bodies, the planet and the universe are constantly trying to re-gain the equilibrium. The question is, how much we can interfere without upsetting the system too much.
At the moment I have the impression that mother earth is trying to give us a warning, she is literally upset with huge earthquakes, storms, eruptions, already happened or still coming......
I love the Planet Earth series!
I just finished my research paper on acidification of the Bering Sea.
We just have to do our part, each one of us. My Website is dedicated to this subject. Maybe it is a little hard to find people that make that a concern. I really think that every one of us are genuinely concerned with the environment. The problem is, we are always very busy with day to day life issues. So I have learned one thing: Do the best that you can to change your lifestyle as far as the preservation of your space that you occupy. People will pick up your message eventually. I really don't know how fast? But, they will. If each one of us does a little bit, things will improve. Just, do not give up! Hang in there continuing giving the right message. Persistence breaks resistance. All the Blessings for your project!
I agree, if we all do our part, we can make a difference. If you can change someone's opinion, someone's bad habit... even just ONE person on earth, and this person does the same... well eventually the world can change
Thank you for the link! I see that I'm already doing all of these things... maybe what I lack is just time =) and the subscribers will come
I see many YouTubers on Facebook, so definately that platform.
Twitter seems to have them too.
Something absolutely funny and unique sometimes becomes a live wire, something the youngsters lean over each other's shoulders to have a look at, something that's brand new and burns for sharing.......
Hmmmmmm I do see a lot of youtubers promoting their channel on dedicated facebook groups. But what I don't like about it is that they offer sub for sub and most of the time don't even look at your channel. If I'm going to subscribe, I'm going to leave a comment, like their videos and really take a look at what they're doing...
I ask people to subscribe only if they enjoy what I do. And if they don't they can simply give a like or leave a comment or well... do nothing lol.
I read that inactive subscribers are eventually deleted by youtube so the point is to get people to subscribe because they enjoy what you do right?
Thank you for your input
See you around!
Sarah
Sarah, forget the first part of my tip......
It's more the second part that I have a gut feeling about.....
Something those 18 year-olds will grab each other's cell phones for, to have a faster look......
Could be something hilarious. Could be something drop dead cool, like someone looking like a pharaoh's wife, arriving at a party.....something with new, perhaps ancient-old but new elements, that's dusty down there, in the subconscious mind.....
Sorry for raving, hope I'm not bugging you.....

I haven't got this far yet, but it does sound interesting AND challenging!
