I have a .com that is coming up for renewal and it has some content on it. I am not sure I want to keep it, but I do not want to lose the content, as I may be able to use it la
Hi Annette, I use the updraft plus plugin to back up my content. They give you several options of where you want the back up to reside. On your computer or even the cloud. For the price of renewal of a domain for a year I may even consider keeping it.
Best wishes,
Michael
Easy peasy. If you don't have too many pages, go to the website, and copy / paste the content to word docs...You can also point that domain to a new one, and transfer at your leisure.
HI you can back it up with AIO WP Migration or Updraft plugins. UpdraftPlus is a premium and highly recommended.
Cassi's idea is cool too, however you'd have to wait a while till you ensure the 301 redirects are entirely transferred and for the search engines. Kyle's recommendation is at least 30 days.
The latter option may be useful if you want to keep it live.
Thank you Abie, I have about 30 days till it expires, so either way will work I guess. You guys are great, thank you for your input.
I would certainly think so Annette. I'm assuming thet you don't want to move your content to a new domain at the moment because you are not sure what you wish to do with it.
Personally I would transfer to one of me free domains before giving up the paid one.
Hope that helps.

I know they say that you should narrow down your niche, but what if I cover several of my interests in one website? Example, art, gardening, photography, etc.
Just lookin
This is a very interesting question and discussion.
I also have the same situation. My site is about Food Fitness Fads Fashion (all-in-one).
Sometimes I regret putting all these niches in one site, specially as I read the comments and recommendations from our friends here.
My experience is that I find difficulty creating content because of these many-niche-in-one-site.
And am thinking of editing or re-creating or removing other niche, like the Fads and Fashion, to focus on Food and Fitness, but I'm afraid it will negatively affect my site.
I'm still reading the comments, and found all very helpful.
I'll be back to read more comments.
Thanks for posting this question, Annette
It's a little harder for Google to figure out what your site is about when you mix things that don't normally appear together. That can affect where you land in the search results. Remember, this is just your first site; it doesn't have to be the only site you ever have. In a way, think of it as your practice site, because you will learn so much before you ever do your next site.
Yes, you can have one site with all niches on it. But I understand, that it is better to have them separately. The purpose of this is to get traffic on each theme. If you have all themes into one website, this may cause to the reader too much time to find thr theme s/he is looking for.
Take one theme at a time. For example Art alone. But you can combine related themes. Using the ones you named, you can combined art with photography. Gardening should be treated separately.
hi Annette ... good question and all questions are considered good ones here....
see you've got an interesting discussion thread happening ...
a lot depends upon of how you wield and craft your website and it comes back to 'purpose' and who your target audience is and who you are trying to reach to help ....
for novice sites, the general rule of thumb --- it is best to focus and concentrate on one niche to one site to build deeply and thoroughly your 'authority' on the topic and then broaden and scale to fruition once you've achieved meaningful audience engagement ...
all the very best ... :)
For the purests one niche one website, with all due respect I think that audiences have to a degree moved on and are becoming more aware.
So art and gardening can be interwoven it can work I have clients that spend on thier gardens and art as well.
The subjects you have mentioned seem diverse yet they can become very targeted.

I need to edit the DNS record to verify my domain for the email autoresponder. How do I do that?
A good question and you seemed to have the best answers from the other outstanding members. Best wishes!
To update your domain DNS settings to point to WA. Here are the DNS settings.
ns1 . mywahosting . com
ns2 . mywahosting . com
These settings will be updated within your domain registrar (where you purchased your domain) after the transfer has taken place.
Please review this link Do i need to set up an auto responder? How to create an auto-responder easy with a gmail account. Message from Kyle here How do I edit DNS settings in WIX to point to WA nameservers?
The service I am trying to verify my domain with is OHWO. They are telling me to insert some info into my DNS zone settings.
Please contact site support see if they can help you, that's if your site is registered with WA, if not you'd have to contact registrar support where you registered your domain.

As far as I know DNS settings is to point a domain from one server to another.
Also contact support OHWO, or check their documentation on instructions oh how to move forward.
Before yesterday we didn't hear of OHWO, I also checked the WA to see any previous documentation I didn't find any.
So my best guess contact site support see if they can shed more light on your issue. Hope you get it resolved sooner.
They have a facebook group, if you ask there, am sure someone will direct you.
