I have named the categories but cannot get them to apply on the site. Any suggestions?
Publish a post under a category and then the category will show up. I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Hello Anita, Loes has proved the answer. The only think I would add is once you have created your post on the right sidebar there the categories you created should be there with one that says uncategorized. I would unclick that one and click on the ones you want to show, then save, publish and update.
If you go to Appearance then menu on your dashboard, you should be able to select the categories you wish you add to your menu. - hope this helps :)

The pages show they are published on Dashboard, but aren't showing on my website. Does anyone know how to correct this?
Do you have automatically add to menu check marked? If not you can go to menus and manually add the pages.
