A Site is Like a Piece of Land-It Appreciates in Value
One of the best businesses to engage with is buying a piece of land. As time passes by it will never depreciate rather it will appreciate in value.
It came to mind that a site is likened to a piece of land. As it matures and trusted by search engines its value will increase as time goes on. Off course content is one off the essential engredients of a site that contributes mostly to the value.
You see, just awhile ago I read Stephany's post that she sold her 13 months old site with 57 articles in it for $28,000. I know it's a quality content.
So I was inspired to add more content to my sites for even not successful in having affiliate products at least somebody will give a price per article.

I cannot ever imagine selling my sites. You are right though they are an investment, just like land.

I only thought of this when I cannot maintain it as a site. The lifeblood of a site is content and what will I do if I cannot fill it. Maybe it's good to sell especially if the niche is not in your own interest and you cannot write about it.
I had never thought about sites being like land before that is a good analogy. I guess that is something I need to think about. Something that appreciates instead depreciated. Thank you great post.
That's true. Once in a while, I check my site. When it's 6 months old the price is different than now that it's already one year old.
Wow so I know it is got worth more now than 6 months ago but how do you know the cost of your website.
There are other sites that will assess and gives the approximate price. Although it's not reliable according to others at least you know your site is appreciating as time goes on
Depends on the market
What if I tell you that land I bought 5 years ago has depreciated in value but I am sure it will rebound. Sorry but in most cases you are right. Thanks for sharing
It's very rare for a land to depreciate if it will maybe it not really a good one. If it's along a river or being prone to calamity areas I would not buy it.
You are right, it depends on the situation where the land is.
The prices were inflated and the economy has tanked.the quality of the site has not changed .It just shows the unpredictability of life.
Jimmy, This is an excellent likening cloud to physical property, the more we engage in site building, the more we feel materializing it.
Much appreciated. James
Thank you, Dr. James. You are right, the more we learn more and engage in the online business the more revelations are coming.
Great comparison, Jimmy! So true--web sites and land sites have a lot in common! Both may have a huge profit if sold!
Thank you, Herin. I realized this when I tried my sites assessed and given the price after 6 months and this time in its 11th month, it appreciated.
That's so great! A point well proven! I design sites for clients for good income. I should design and sell my own sites! This seems to be a huge business in itself!
