Hi... A Very Good Day Ladies and Gentlemen...

I have a niggling Question... One that tickles and stumps my brain each and every time I try to setup an Online Business... It is this thing called Niches... But this time round... I have you guys to draw support from...

I am a very technical person by nature... And a Project Manager Professionally... So I always try to conduct a proper Risk Assessment which includes simulating the movements of internet traffic... Potential Conversion Points etc. when planning out my Projects.. And this is My Project...

The issue I am facing is that I can't seem to find a single Niche that suits me well... My general interest is working on Projects... Working on Projects involving the Internet... Especially those that make money from the Internet... But I don't have a knack for marketing just that...

I don't want to directly set up a Website only for Affiliate Programs as in only for Monetization Purposes Only... I don't want to come across as someone who is only into this... (Please Don't Feel Offended ya...). I would like to structure my Website into something like a Website depicting my experience... My Life Journey... How I became what I am today... What I want in life... What I want for me and my family... More of sharing of personal interests kind of thing... I was thinking of setting up a General Interests Website... Then channel the Traffic to more precise websites for monetization. What do you think...?

I believe this method is called a "Landing Page" or something like that... (I may be wrong with the Terminology but the general idea is not to have the affiliate links on the main page itself). I picked up the idea from a friend of mine who in turn got it from some training Program that did not work... Yeah... The Program did not work... But I liked this idea of a "Landing Page" which would be my main website... Then work on channeling the traffic to other websites for the conversion...

I can work on content for the Landing Page... Or Landing Site for that matter. All my thoughts and feelings etc. And work on reviews etc. on the more focused Sub-Sites per se. I think it can be a very elaborate setup but I wouldn't mind the hard work if it really works.

Also, is there a simpler way to do this...? Maybe have all of this in 1 Website versus in separate Websites...?

I have not completed the Website Building Part yet... Just about to start actually but this hangup on Niches is seriously picking my brain...

Any and all ideas are greatly appreciated and I will evaluate them all... God Willing...

Then I came across this Post by Smartketeer...

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/how-to-choose-the-p...

This is written in a way I can easily relate to...

Got me seriously thinking... I think I have an idea of how to proceed now... Only 1 Website... But structured enough with these items below...

  • Landing Page...
  • Subpages for Monetization...

This would make my Website Future Proof and Infinitely Expandable... right...?

I am sure you have also considered this approach...

Anyone actually tried making a Website like this... What's your experience like...? Could you share them with me...?

OR...

Are all Websites actually designed this way...? Mannnnn...

See how I pick my brain till there's noting left...???

🀣

Please... Let me know what you think of my idea... Please... Your most sincere comments... You can say I am Crazy... That's OK... I also think I am half-way there as it is...

Thank you very much in advance...

All the Best Ladies and Gentlemen... And see you at the Top... πŸš€

OK without going through the rest of the comments my immediate thought from early on in your blog are that you need a "lifestyle blog".

"My Life Journey... How I became what I am today... What I want in life... What I want for me and my family... More of sharing of personal interests kind of thing..."

You don't need to make it as complicated as you are. One website, work through the training and build on to it from there and see what it grows into.

Simples! Hope that helps :)

Hi Heidi...

You are also a Genius... Perfectly laid out... I just completed Level 1 of my Training and it is now clear that this kind of a Blog is what's in order...

I am working on the Sub-Domains now... And Monetization.

Thank you very much... It definitely helps wonders...

🀣

Hi Dzul, you say you work as a professional risk assessment which includes simulating the movements of internet traffic... and Potential Conversion Points. That in itself could possibly be a niche but, then you said you prefer to talk about personal interest.

It is very well normal to be stumped over a niche. I believe most people who join WA end up being stumped over a niche. I myself was stumped. Of course, it is best to narrow your niche down but, I would like to add that I have done in-depth research and there are a lot of people that have websites with broad niches.

Now, when you go broad you risk the fact that your audience may be confused and may not return.

You also may not ever be able to target a stable audience but, I do know one site called chasing foxes. This lady talks about everything on her blog. She gets 10million views a month. So, with this example, you can see that she made it work.

After you continue with the training you will find out that everything will become a lot clearer. It may take some time though, just trust the process.

I was confused myself for a long time but, ended up actually making commissions and had absolutely no idea how. What I can tell you is that I followed every step of training and did what Kyle said to do.

I hope that everything works out with your niche...I wish you the best in everything that you do.

You may just need to sit back, take a breather and think things through.

Almost anything can be capitalized off of when it comes to affiliate marketing.

Well, that was my opinion and I hope I helped at least some...

To your continued success, I think you will do great...

Kisha

Hi Kisha...

Thank you very much for your reply...

I took a look at Chasing Foxes... It is very similar to what I have in mind... Very similar... I will take a much closer look to understand the gist and essence of what she has put into her formulation to make it work...

4 months to take over as the main source of income is something really excellent. Seriously... Something to really think about.

I am following the Training down to the T now and I am now able to understand quite a few new things... And all this is only in Level 1 Training. I am starting Level 2 Training tomorrow. I am taking the rest of the day today to reply posts from all my friends here at WA...

And write a Blog for Completing Level 1 Training...

Thank you very much again...

😎

Oh good, I am glad you were able to find the chasing foxes blog. Chasing foxes was just one example, another example I found was adrianscrazylife blog. Adrians Crazy life blog gets about 1.8 million views per month on Pinterest.

I believe I have come across several others that became successful and talk about everything. So, with that being said it can be done. I just do not know their formula and how long it takes but, as you can see Chasing Foxes blog took off after 4 months.

I agree, with being able to make a full-time income within 4 months would be awesome and well worth the hard work.

Another idea I liked about Chasing foxes is they do not even have to show themselves. I have known about chasing foxes for a year and never seen the author behind the blog.

It is really good to hear that you are going through the training and starting level 2. Seems like you are making progress at a good pace.

I agree with you to follow the training to the T and implement everything you learn. It really helps.

Writing a blog within WA is very helpful. The blogs within WA can be indexed into Google, which means that the outside world can potentially see your blog here and someone can possibly sign up with you.

Well, sorry for all of the rambling, I just like to help others whenever I can. I know you will do great and would love to see your progress.

To your continued success...

Kisha

Hi Kisha...

By all means... Please keep on sending your thoughts my way... All day... Any day... I am all ears. I am going to pin this down and you are definitely helping me along in so many ways.

I have a question though... How do you know the Hit Rates of each Blog or Website...? From the Whois Website or something like that...?

Also... I don't know how to Index the WA Blogs... I was hoping it could be done... So that I can refer to them from my Website as a show how real this place really is... But I do not know if it can actually be done...

Thank you very much for everything... And these Pep Talks are doing me wonders... Thank you very much...

😎

You're welcome...

The views that I am going off are from Pinterest. Pinterest displays the number of views that a particular business account gets. Now, the views are what the business account gets so, I do not know the exact number the blog itself is getting but, I would image they are getting pretty decent traffic out of the very large number of views off of Pinterest.

And with the WA blogs, they can potentially get indexed just by you writing a WA blog. You can write about anything, your progress, life, anything and as long as it is original content Google can index the blog.

The more people comment, like, or share on the WA blog the better. So, if you wrote a WA blog that can help someone with their question. I would share the blog with them. You can share your own personal WA blogs as well as others.

The way you know it is indexed is: say you have a WA blog title called "My 1st WA certification Course Completed". You would copy and paste this title onto google.com and see if your WA blog comes up.

You will know if it comes if you see your personal WA profile. You must be logged out the community when you try this, though.

I am not sure how long it takes for the WA blog to potentially get indexed though.

I attached the Pinterest views of both sites below.

Wow... That's a lot of follows... Seriously...

How do you get to know of these Blogs... or Websites by the way...?

If I did a search on Google using a different e-mail... Can I see if my Blog is indexed by Google...? I think most of my Blogs will not get Indexed... As the Title is not unique...

Anyway... It is something I can plan and look out for in the Future...

Thank you very much again...

I get to know about the blogs by just searching for the blogs in my niche. It sounds like you want to be more in a lifestyle niche because you'll be talking about everything, based off of you and your life, right?

If not, we will still use this as an example.

So, here are the steps that I take to find blogs in my niche.

1. I go to Google and just type in "Lifestyle niche blogs" and then results will come back. Click on any interesting title that you want to read. Why do I do this? This will help you organize your own blog as well, they also share other blogs in your niche, and one day you might be able to network with the bloggers in your niche.

2. I also find the blogs on Pinterest. Pinterest is not a social media site like Twitter and Facebook. It is more of a search engine. It works with keywords and you can gain a lot of traffic really fast there.

For example, I had 0 followers and NO traffic on Pinterest, because, I never I had use for these types of sites.

Last week I set up Pinterest business account, organized my boards and started re-pinning everyone else stuff. My traffic has grown in one week from 0 to 2.1k monthly views. I only pin for like 5 minutes in a day. Of course as I get my blog under control I will do more marketing on Pinterest (I restarted my entire blog so I have to get that under control. Try not to ever do this it is a hassle...lol)

If are going to be on Pinterest those pictures that are being shared on Pinterest (which are called Pins)

Most of the pins have people links embedded within them. If you click on them it will take you to their blog. That is another way I learn about the different blogs.

I read different blogs because it will help you learn how to organize your own blog.

No, you do not need to change emails or even log in with an email to check if you are indexed. All you have to do is type in the same exact title that you come up with for your WA blog and place that title into Google search bar. If you see your WA profile within Google search that means you have indexed within Google. If you do not see it, that means you have not been indexed.

I know it sounds confusing but, you probably really won't understand it fully until it happens. At least that is how I learned fully on how it worked. And it does not have to be a unique title. I have been indexed on random titles. It the blog is getting a lot of activity that is what can help your WA blog get indexed.

In fact, this very WA blog that we have talked on can be indexed soon because, you have lots of comments which are relevant. Our comments back and forth haven been relevant and detailed which Google likes.

No, worries during training Kyle will teach you this, just make sure you take notes, soak in the information and implement each and every step. There is a lot of information and I do mean a lot of information to learn here. You do not want to get yourself overwhelmed before you even get the chance to get started fully.

Given your description, you need a SUB -niche to make your first go at it get off the ground in a measurable way (after expenses)... in my humble opinion, there are 3 Steps to strategizing:

1) List the top 5 things that you are passionate (or could be with more knowledge - ie. becoming an authority in your sub-nuche). I'll bet you only 2 will be qualified.

2) Understand the basics of SEO and Site construction... especially taxonomy and therefore great UserX. Completing WA coursework is a must... trust me. It worked for me within 4 - 6 months without credit card processing!!! Try THAT sometime on an eCommerce site!

3) Start your eMail Marketing nurturing sequence within a few weeks of launching the site. Have all your Social Media Pages optimized with the BASIC information keyworded (phrases) across all of them, but do not cut & paste. Write unique site descriptions and CTA's for each social media platorm to fit the uniqueness of it's own demographic for your prod/service.

If you can strategize your ultimate "ask" (monetization or not) by nailing the Pain Points or "missing info"..... or " hot product" within your CTA while maintaining good site structure as you progress.... you'll be deservedly rewarded.

And don't ever worry about backlinks, and keywords... you want to "own" your own "key phrases" (for your Title tags and descriptions .... and SERPs of same)

And since you are the "authority", you will know all the latent symantic keywords to use NATURALLY in your content.

Poof! ;^>

Hi Ted...

Thank you very much...

You have given me added incentive to complete my training... Hopefully by then, I can come back to your post and understand things better... Especially the Credit Card part...

Generally... I understand what you are sharing with me... I need to understand the details further. I have not satisfactorily completed the course yet... As such, I will retake the course again and then come back to your post again to understand the details...

You guys really are the Best...

Thank you sooooo much...

All the Best and see you at the Top... πŸš€

Oh, and then there's the economics... I get a 35 - 40% gross profit after cost of goods sold including any merchant processing, bank charges, packaging, shipping and applicable sales taxes.

If you work on skinnier margins, then you need to split some brain cells and figure out how to make it happen with add-ons, up-sells, or consulting, etc.... because the numbers will not crunch.

I think if more people knew that, they'd not waste their time competing on the Internet of all things. They'd do better with a booth at conventions or the local Swap Meet.

If someone can show you how to "get off the ground with less than a 35% gross profit.... assuming you don't allow yourself to get confused with bad hosting decisions, email delivery protocols, plugin disease, and sociopathic "developers"... then please share with me because I've hit every proverbial branch having fallen many times my friend.

And never give up ... if you find your sub-niche that is.

hey hi Dzul -- an answer to your posted question -- yes, of course, we'd love to help -- that's what the WA community is about here -- okay, roll up your sleeves:

a synthesis:

1. experienced in project management -- with your extensive experience in this area -- you could become an 'authority' for this niche if selected and if you were interested in blogging about it. if so, suggest sub it out and get further focused to zoom in tighter and specialize ...

2. self-branding -- yes, you could specialize in yourself ... and build that brand / logo, icon, etc. -- if you already have a huge following then this would be easier to accomplish ...

3. 'landing page' ->> it's only used for 'conversions' and is only one spoke in a fork of tools -- listen, you'll need to get to work and get the training under your belt to truly understand the amazing guidance that WA offers in building your on-line biz to success -- it looks like you've just joined in late November and would have missed Jay's fantastic training on 'brilliant capture pages ... here is a sample of the weekly live WAbinars by Jay: well, that's my 28 cents worth for now ... and you know, it's ok to take your time to consider things ... patience with self is one of the keys to success ...

hope this helps you and that you're starting to feel a wee bit better ...

all the best, cheerio ... 😊

Hi Keisha...

Thank you very much for your thoughts... Most informative and makes a lot of sense... And more importantly... It helps a lot. I am definitely feeling much better now...

I need to take the training again as I think I did not manage to pick up a lot of things... Too many distractions... 20++min Video took like 2 days to complete... So I think you would be able to understand how the training went. Once I get everything sorted out this weekend... I will be back in full force come Monday.

I have quite a diversified port-folio actually and I am able to blog on quite a few topics... I was thinking of starting with a couple of topics closest to my heart and while I am destressing or detoxing for that matter... 🀣 I can get some actual work done...

Such as the situation and resultant experience recently. I tried and tried to find similar incidences to relate to but was not successful... I felt very down afterwards... I am much better now... Thanks to you guys in the WA Community... And would like to Blog about it...

Hopefully it would reach others like me...

All the Best and see you at the Top... πŸš€

you're most welcome!

p.s. by the way, try not to 'over-think it' ... with extensive life and career experience and the rich diversity of all that makes it quite challenging to select '1' , repeat 'one' narrowly-defined topic to work on ... yet, to build that 'authority' takes a lot less time on-line than in the off-line world ... Kyle blogged about that .. i'll see if i can locate it for you.... brb ....

here it is -- hope you'll find some insights or utility for what you might need to know ... :)

Hi Keisha...

Thank you sooooo very much... I really appreciate it...

Never in my dreams have I receive so much support for my own success... Seriously... I don't know how to thank you guys enough...

Thank you very much...

πŸ™

you're most welcome -- enjoy the amazing WA journey to success,

enjoy a beautiful weekend ahead -- R E L A X !

all the best, cheerio ... 😊

p.s. perhaps we'll see you later at the Live Jay Show today -- it starts at 1700h PST ... hope you can make it! ...

Hi Dzul, try approaching it like this.
1. Find a problem that affects many people and they are searching for answers on the internet.
2. If you have the passion and experience to provide a solution to these people, there is your niche. If not, move on to the next problem people are seeking answers to.
3. Rinse and repeat and you will find your niche.
It may take a while but you will find something.
If you choose wrong at the beginning, don't give up. Either rework it to get it right or choose something new.
The internet is so big that you will always find an audience eventually.
Best wishes, Gary

Hi Gary...

Thank you very much for your thoughts... It really helps... That's what I am trying to achieve...

Let the monetization part become secondary... right...?

Is there any particular resource where I can find out what are the Top Searches on the Internet via Google for example...?

Thank you very much again... I really appreciate it.

All the Best... And see you at the Top... πŸš€

Hi Dzul, monetization comes naturally if your website helps people overcome problems they have. For searching in Google, I use a Chrome Extension called Keywords Everywhere. Google it. It provides information on number of searches, cost per click for the keyword and competition for the keyword. It is pretty useful.
Best wishes, Gary

Dzul when I read your concerns, I immediately thought of you in Facebook. No offense, just an observation.

I do see where you want to go, I can't tell you yay or nay if either way is a good decision. I guess it comes down to you my dear brother.

Here at WA you can design your page and the direction you want to go without me telling you how to do it.

It's just at least for me I want to make money, front and center. My #1 priority.

Try doing it the way you told us, might work for you. See Dzul the founders here created this platform for us to do what we want.

It is your decision what direction you want to go. If anything else
what would happen if your site becomes "successful!" It would only be you who did it.

As for your niche, hmmm....um....well is there something you like?????? Maybe think of what you like? You like to gardent?
What about catching roaches to feed lizards? That could be a niche.

Goodluck Dzul, let me know how you doing!

FRank from Hawaii

Hi Frank...

Thank you very much for your thoughts...

I sincerely believe that the Website Design that I am thinking of building would reflect me on a holistic manner... My personality... The way I think etc. But the whole intention of an Online Business is to make money although that is not the first impression I want to give people. Hence the predicament I am facing...

Maybe I should give this a shot... At the worst case scenario... It doesn't work and I need to rebuild another site... But I am a Premium... I have provisions for 50 Website after all... right...? Only time and effort wasted...

Let me think this through and get it pegged down by today...

Thank you very much for your thoughts. I really appreciate it very much...

Nice place to hail from... Hawaii... I hope to visit Hawaii some day... I'll look you up if I do reach Hawaii...

All the Best and see you at the Top... πŸš€

Is there any policies stopping us from visiting each other's websites...? I am not very familiar with this... But I would like to visit the websites belonging to our friends here... Gives me an idea of how to go about things...

Some members choose to share some of their websites and social links. Check their profile pages and scroll to the bottom right to see if they have any listed. Not all members share.

Hi Shirley...

I will do that... Thank you very much.

Y'know Dzul, I have complete confidence you will get to a good place in your heart that will get to where you want.

Time will tell all, how you're doing. Goodluck my brother!

I like the way you think Dzul!

frank

Hi Frank...

Thank you very much Brother...

I will be watching you as well...

All the Best and Let's all meet up at the Top... πŸš€

that's a deal my brother from a different mother!

frank

My blog is all about me. My last 4 posts don't have an affiliate link on them. It sounds like you just want to write about what you are doing. There is nothing wrong with that.

You can get yourself established and later consider ways to make money. It doesn't mean every page has affiliate links. I believe it is better if they don't. I often go to a website to find information and can't read it because of the advertising. I get out quickly.
There are lots of ways to monetize a website. Work through the certification training and just write about your interests and share your experiences and skills helping other.
A landing page is basically just a page you can send people to whether it is monetized or not is completely up to you.
You can always grow towards one particular topic once your website is established. There is no hard and fast rule that says you must and can only consider one niche and one niche only.
Enjoy your writing and make your website about what you can help people with and as you continue through the training it will all come together.
Wishing you all the best
Kerry Ann

Hi Kerry Ann...

My Theme is to actually help people... Like me... Who are always dealt the short end of the stick... Always ending up in trouble for staying true to our principles etc.

That's my theme for the Main Page... Then the sub-pages would be ways how to solve the issues they might be facing... Alternatives... Alternative incomes... Hobbies... Training... Interests... Things like that... Those can have some affiliate links...

In Basket Ball for example...

Favourite Player... Team... Rivalry... things like that... All have their own commemorative and marketing links etc.

Alternative income...
Affiliate Programs would be WA... Online Trading... Broker of choice...

Technology... Gaming Computers... Things like that...

But these niches I will build slowly... As I need to get enrolled into their individual affiliate programs first... right...?

If I do it this way... I think I have enough to keep on writing and sharing meaningful content... Personally researched and written... Original material...

Thank you very much for you reply... I really appreciate it...

All the Best and see you at the Top... πŸš€

How about your niche being personal interests. Niches can be innovation in different products based on them.

Hi William...

I am interested in quite a number of things... That's the issue too. I cannot write 100 Posts for each item... But I could possible go 50 Blogs for example... For 50 items... But gradually building up...

Thank you very much for your thoughts... It has got me thinking...

All the Best and see you at the Top... πŸš€

Dzul,
You need to make your website/business the way you would
like to see it and how you feel others would like to see it -
in the first place if you make your website designed around
helping people with a certain problem - such as they have
too many days in a month and not enough money well then
you help them by finding them a better and more prosperous
way to earn without giving up all their time to a JOB.
Does this make sense to you :)
Susan

Hi Susan...

Thank you very much for your thoughts...

That's the thing... When I began looking for ways to find a way out of the situation I am in now... I never found anything that shared similar experiences... No website... Only responses in Forums etc. and that too... Just like an Advertisement... The rest are Affiliate Links...

I did not want that... I wanted to know if there are others who are experiencing or have experienced the predicament I am in now and what they have done to get themselves out of it... I couldn't find any articles at all.

That gave rise to thoughts that I am probably the biggest Idiot in the History of Mankind... But I don't think I am that unlucky... Then I joined WA and read from the Bios of those I follow as well as those who returned follow me... I found out that there are a whole lot of people who are going through similar difficulties in life... I think this particular niche is yet to identified much less acknowledged but from the training... I need to identify one niche... That's why I am picking my brain...

The training is developed by experts... And I am not even experienced... I cannot be correct... right...? But somehow... I keep on coming back to the structure I explained above... Hence the Blog Post to see if what I think is actually valid...

You guys are the best... Seriously the Best... I never thought I would get responses such as those here now... and only after a short period of time to boot...

Thank you very much. I can't begin to even explain how appreciative I am right now...

All the Best and see you at the Top... πŸš€

Dzul,
You have some very good responses here - the problem is
deciding how your style is going to lay out on a website -
I am going to tell you I have been here 5 months started my
#6 on the 3rd. I am not anywhere near as experienced as
other members.
But what I have learned is everyone has their own style and
when you find yours and get stuff out there that is what
people are expecting to see from you everytime you put
a new piece out.
Have you considered writing a business plan? This might help
you with an outline of how and what you seriously want.
Going into 2019 this is what I am going to be doing with two
domains I just purchased - I have content ready for them but
they are sitting there blank for now LOL :)
Once I get that outline and plan together then I will go about
creating those two sites.
Just food for thought.
Susan

Hi Susan...

Thank you very much for your thoughts...

Funny enough you should mention a Business Plan... I am actually putting one together for myself... Hence the Delays etc.

It is like second nature for me to do everything in a Project like manner... The 1st Phase is Concept Design which includes Risk Assessment, Feasibility Studies and Business Plan amongst others.

Our Premium Plan does not come with domains... right...? But comes with Web Hosting...?

I follow certain people on the Internet... Simply because I like their presentation style... How they argue topics... Discuss topics... Their thought process and opinions... right...? The uniqueness of my Website should be built on these aspects as well... right...? So that there are people who actually look forward to my posts...?

I believe I can do that...

Thank you very much for your thoughts... I really appreciate them... Seriously...

There is a lot to write if you think of it along these lines...

πŸ€”

Dzul,
You are so right :) And thanks I always like to help in any
tiny way I can I think you will do great - you just needed a
tiny push :)
Susan

Hi Susan...

That was no tiny push Ma'am... That was exactly what I needed to start things rolling... No tiny feat to enable me to do that...

Seriously...

Thank you very much...

I'm not sure how to answer you. The preferred choice for a site niche is a somewhat narrow topic that you have enough passion for to be able to write lots of posts for and that there are affiliate products associated with so it can be monetized.

However, I do have a site that is non-specific, I have a city online mall site that has several "shops" dealing with the various interests the people in our community have. Its a very active retirement style community. So I have shops for fishing, golfing, hiking, kayaking, etc.

I can't say I'm making very much off the site so far but I'm still creating posts and have very few right now.
-Shirley

Hi Shirley...

I totally understand this... But can I use this as my secondary Website or page etc. ? My Main page is more of a personal sharing kind of thing...?

Can I ask for the link to visit your Website...? I don't know if there is a Policy against this but I would like to visit the Website built by my friends here in WA so that I can have an idea of how to proceed...

If there is a policy stopping this... Please let me know. I don't want to get anyone in trouble... Me included... πŸ˜†

WA is my Life Changer... I don't want to jeopardize it in any way...
