Why I've failed so far with Wealthy Affiliate

Hi Guys,

Thought i'd do a quick blog about my time with WA, and why I haven't seen success.

I joined about 2 years ago, and like very newbie the first few days and weeks were very exciting. New adventure, new learning and what not.

Went through the training...after difficulty picked my niche, and began my site. I think I got to around level 3; got about 6-7 articles done.

And then just stopped. The pressures from the "offline" world came in, and I needed an immediate income and job, and so time wasn't there anymore.

Day jobs are grueling and taxing, when you come home you just don't have the energy to write content.

I kept my subscription going though. And throughout the 2 years I still used WA to build new websites, i've tried drop-shipping, e-commerce etc. I've gone through so many trainings and webinars elsewhere, fb ads, this and that...shiny oject syndrome at its finest.

Same ol' story though, either found it too boring or just couldn't be bothered, and at times just got too overwhelmed with the amount of information...and of course offline world pressures and day job consumed all my time.

So the number one reason of not seeing any success: NOT STICKING TO THE PLAN.

The plan is simple. Just write, write and write. Week after week, month after month. And don't change it.

This field isn't one that will bring instant results and writing isn't as easy as some people make out. The initial hype and excitement gets you through the first few weeks, but when that goes, that's when the real grind and grit starts. And then even after that it willl be a while before there's success.

However, for anyone struggling or new, i'd say keep at it. 2 years later I regret absolutely not carrying on...if I wrote even once a week, my website would have been filled with articles by now...and with it would be traffic and revenue.

There will be so many doubts, fears and and thoughts of whether it can happen...don't ask those questions. Just keep saying to yourself it WILL happen, as long as I carry on and work.

Here's to starting round 2!

Hi Xulfeh
Thank you for sharing your Journey. At least you are back and l am sure you will still succeed but only if you do not give up. I am also on a full-time job and l know how the job can suck all your energy. What l do is write blogs almost every day even if it’s just a few paragraphs or research on my blog topics.

My reason for joining WA is to build my own dreams and to eventually quit my job otherwise l will be building someone else dreams forever. I know its hard but we just have to persevere. Nothing comes easily.

Thank you for sharing your story.

I have been consumed by "other than on-line business" events in my life and I truly want to get back into the swing of things here at WA.

Your story is honest and inspiring.

I, too, am going to make that commitment and get back in the saddle, so to speak!!!

All the best to you.

Susan

Thank you for the support, I needed this. I've been here for a few months and feel the offline world taking over my time. I have a lot of ambitions besides wealthy affiliate so I have to make time for that as well, and need an immediate income.

I am grinding it out though and making at least one article per month. It's slow but it's what I can do. I'm trying to get a few more out a month since I'm a little more focused now. Along the way, I've found a few things to fuel the fire, like Pinterest being able to bring some more traffic to the site!

Hello,

Yup, same here - it seems to me that you really do have to be an engaging writer - not a skill everyone has. Also, it seems like you really need to be writing 3000-5000 words a week to really get going with a blog. I simply don't have the skills to do that!

Still, I'm hanging on in there, blogging every now and then as I find something to write about, but I've given up the idea of making any cash out of it - which is probably the right attitude :)

Good luck with your round 2!

CheersO,

Andy

I just read your post...and i'm replying. Your writing style is clear and concise.

So firstly, you do have the skill of being an engaging writer.

Secondly, you don't need to write that many words a week to get a blog going. I'm sticking with 1000 words a post. If i'm inspired i'll go more...but the key is to just keep writing.

I've been following a few successful people online, there is no secret..all they do is keep publishing. Half their shit doesn't even make sense, and some of it is pure rubbish...but because they keep showing up they're successful.

Don't think too much (i did that) and just create content.

Just stick in your WA links into your posts, someone will click and join and you'll make money.

Thanks and good luck

Hey man,
Well put. I wish you the best of luck second time around. I almost started my slip away from the grind this past week. Today I just finished my first 2000+ word article when I could have easily said I’ll do it later. Your post is motivation for all of us. Even if we add content a little at a time the important thing is that we don’t stop.

I know this all too well! I've actually been with WA since 2009 and fell into a similar situation many times. Life, and the bills that come along with it, always seem to get in the way. I too am back at it, hoping to finally make something of this once and for all. I know it is possible, the key is putting the work into it.

thank you for sharing! sometimes I think we learn more from our regrets and/or failures. As a painter I learn more from the paintings that were not successful than I did the ones that worked. You learned from two years not following through and thankfully shared that and now I have the encouragement I needed to carry on and keep going through the utter discouragement I have been experiencing. Thank you so much for writing this and giving hope to others and that extra push to keep it going!

No problem. Just engage with the community when you're feeling low or uninspired. It's something I never did, but there are so many helpful people here.

Well my friend, I too have had the same sort of problems. But I've made the commitment and the time to get it done because it's just too important not to.

Together, we can all make it happen.

Let's do this!

Always hear to listen and sound off of...

Kelly

You daamn right lol.

Much respect, thank you.

I believe we may be kindred spirits, if not affiliate brothers, Zulfaqar! Your story mirrors mine almost perfectly.

I joined in 2016 and like you, started up, all full of enthusiasm and determination... then frustration about picking a niche and life itself got in the way.

Two years later, I made a plan to start again and stick with it this time and four weeks in, I'm still at it. My traffic is growing slowly and like you, I cannot help but picture where I'd be right now had I kept it up when I joined.

There is of course no point in wondering such things. That was then, this is now and all we can do is learn from our mistakes and move on. I'd rather focus on what I'm doing right now.

I shared a video that another member created that I found quite inspirational earlier today. I think it might help you: Good luck! :)

Ha, we may well be.

Did you do anything in between though, i.e. when you stopped a couple of years ago and when you started again 4 weeks ago? Or did you just let the monthly payments keep rinsing your account lol.

Thanks for the video, will check it out.

Pretty much the latter, truth be told.

I just felt I was too busy and I never made any progress. The killer for me was getting stuck on selecting a niche. I tried a few things but they never clicked so nothing happened. Then, about five weeks ago, I made a list of the things that I really cared about and decided to give one of them a go.

I decided that I hadn't given the whole thing a fair try so I committed to doing it... then I fell in love with the community all over again. :)

Great stuff...keep at it, i'm sure you and I will smash it this time around.

You are so right, I'm truly sorry that things have been tough for you and you have not seen a bit of success yet, but the best part is that you still have faith and you still see potential in this buisiness. I really do hope this time around things work out for you, in fact i know they will.
Keep your head up, you can do this!
Tiffany

Hey, many thanks for the message and inspiration. No need to be sorry at all...i've been very successful with the "offline" world and businesses...so i'm blessed. Just not done it online...and I suppose it's the freedom we're all after, which is why i'd rather have the online success. TY

Anytime Zulfaqar, that's awesome and definitely what I meant.
I look forward to seeing a post soon about your success online!
Best of luck,
Tiffany
