Ive put together some keywords which are 4-5 words long. They have a lot of traffic but QSR in the 200s. But if I change one of the keywords from "of" to "on" for example, the

This is often a risky situation I recommend for example if you do a keyword research phrase

I love good food!
Avg is good

Traffic is good

Qsr is around 120
SEO is 90

The goal is to copy exactly what you have and paste it over..from. what you have learned this can make a big difference in the phrase gettin ranked

So let's say for example you take the same phrase I love good food! And wanted to add

I love good food! How about you?
As long as it's separated exclamation mark and the How... Everything should work out fine and will not affect your rankings..

Thanks Nelson. Separating by a comma is okay too right? I'm sure he separate it with a comma in the training

Yes that should be fine..anytime buddy... Tuesday our internet should be up and running so I will be reconnected online. Thanks for your patience

hi possible eplaination is google's use of stop words - words it ignores
if you do a search and the no of monthly searches does not change with the stop word change ( of, or, to ) then google ignores the stop words
the qsr however shows the number of sites with the exact words in ( search in google with quotes around the keyword) so this does not ignore the keywords
so poss rule - if the no of monthly searches doesn't change then use the lowr qsr ( less direct competition )
just make sure it is completely english and understandable
hope this helps
phil

Thanks Phil. So would my post make it to the top rankings on Google with the lower QSR for the higher QSR?

For example: If the Keyword "The history of..." had high traffic and high QSR, but I used the keyword "The History on.." with low QSR; would my post still rank high if people typed in "The history of.."?

Also, my posts are ranking if I type my keywords in quote marks; but not ranking without the quote marks. How do I get them to rank without quote marks?

Thanks

hi Zulfaqar, this should be the case, with the stop words out then google will pick up on your post for either keywords.
this why you see the other results when you take away the quotes.
as for how you beat the others - if you find out put the answer in a locked safe and never let anyone else see it!!!
no seriously you need an authority site in the niche you have picked
what's that? a site where google sees you consistently posting, getting backlinks from other authority sites ( not what you know but who!!! always the case), social media interaction, comments with replies and other stuff
there, unfortunately, as i am finding, is no definitive manual for this, but following the above and the training you should start to see an increase in your post ranking over time - yes it takes time to build an authority site. how long? how long is a piece of string? the only problm with that is i can answer it - twice as long from the middle to the end!! as for google time - can't answer that!!
good luck
phil

Thank you very much Phil. Makes a lot more sense now. So ideally it's better to have keywords without stop words then right? That way there wont be competition because of slight changes in stop words.

no worries xulfeh,
just make sure you can write the keywords in english, they have to make sense - this usually means that you will need stop words in this case go for the lower qsr- but the keywords you are targeting may not have stop words.
remember to check whether google uses the stop words by the monthly searches - yeah it's complicated, but if it was easy anyone would be doing it!!
does that make sense? sort of?
main thing is to write content for the user and google may recognise that - google makes over 500 changes to its search algorithm a year so it is constantly in flux - what works now targeting keywords may not work next month - so mainly write for the user, when google introduced its panda algorithm it delisted thousands of low quality sites - only the ones who wrote for the user stayed at the top - so history says......
maybe this will add more info? have fun
phil

Great insight Phil, really appreciate it. I was just concerned whether I'm doing it right, and you've given me some re-assurance. Thanks a lot.

there is no definite right or wrong in this business - as i am finding.
but i think you are heading in the right direction.
ignore the traffic - just go by the monthly searches and the qsr. but don't get too hung up on it. as i said there are a lot of other variables google takes into account.
have fun
