Looks like you have the answers you were looking for below which is great :-) I’ll just add though, if this is for charity/community, and you don't want to incur additional costs for hosting, depending on your plan here at WA, you can host up 10 websites for free included within your plan :-)
Yes, that is the point. I don't know if it is possible to host the website here at WA since it is not my personal website.
It is a charitable organisation which I am part of. So, I don't know how it will work out if I host it here at WA. That is why I am looking for suggestions from experts, since I have never done it before.
Thank you so much, I am grateful.
Hi - there are a few ways you could go about doing this. You can purchase the domain yourself with your business credit card and invoice them and have them pay your business for the service. Or you could get them on a Zoom call and walk them through the process of buying the domain themselves and have them use their own credit card. Essentially, you can do the same for the hosting they will need as well. I typically use Namecheap for the domains because they're pretty much the cheapest and easiest to use. The domain will cost approximately $9.06 per year. I would either use Hostgator or Bluehost for the hosting... I would advise you to use your affiliate links for the domain and hosting if you have it - that way you can make some money for providing them value. As far as building the website, I would definitely go with Wordpress and the Astra theme (it's free), and I would use the free Elementor builder to build the website. You can use the training provided here at WA to help with how to build the website... I tried to summarize this as best as I could because it is quite a lot involved but it is doable - if you're a complete beginner, this will take you a week or two, if you're familiar with building websites, this could take two to three days... If you're building a basic website with not too much functionality, you can charge anywhere from $350 - $500 but if it's going to have a lot of different functionality then you can charge up to $1000 and much higher... I hope this helps.

Hi friend, thank you very much you touched almost every aspect of what I need.
I am hoping that prepaid card will work so I can pay for at least two years upfront for the organization. I am not charging any fee, I am only trying to help. I am also a part of the organization, we are trying to help to rebuild our old community center in our town, so we need this website o solicit for donation and others.
I understand you use Namecheap for your domains. I have never used namecheap, but I heard it is good though, so I will use it. Please if you have your affiliate link drop it with me so I can sign under your link...ok. I have Hostigator account, so I will use my affiliate link to sing up.
Thank you for the world or encouragement and tips. I appreciate so much.
Follow the OEC training and your niche would be a your community organization’s purpose. Get your organizations committee to come up with the content strategy and provide the content. You can facilitate the process.
Great Stanley! For sure the organization will provide all the content and I will support with the website builder. Thanks for the contribution.
All the training here at WA will help you to build the website. The training here isn’t just for personal websites or blogs. You also have the classrooms for more advanced/in-depth topics.
Thanks Chrystopher, you are right I am learning as fast as I can. Please, I would appreciate if you can leave me a link on how to build a website for another individual other than myself?
Basically, what I want to know is this, can I use my credit card to buy a domain for them? Or do I use prepaid card and hand them over the website when I am done building it?
Thanks once again.
Hi Dorothy,
I used to own a digital agency. And create a lot of websites for clients. I still do it on an ad hoc basis, now choosing projects that I like to do.
I would usually get the client to buy the domain name, and the hosting service. (they buy it using my affiliate links)
The reason for the client to make the purchase, instead of me, is that this is their property. It will be their online asset. And they should take ownership.
Many times, I have clients who come to me requesting for a website refresh. And when I asked for access to their website to do it, I find (to my horror), that they do not have ownership of their domain. And their websites are hosted on the worst web hosting services.
To me, this is not good. It is their website. It is their online asset. They should own the domain name, and the web hosting service. So that they have total control of the website.
The worst cases were when the previous vendor held some of my past clients 'hostage'. They tried all ways to refuse to turn over the ownership to the client. Can you imagine if these bad vendors publish bad things about the client? It will be the end of their brand.
So, my advise is:
- Get the client to purchase their domain name and web hosting service
- Get them to pay using their credit card - it is also good for tax purposes as they can include it into expenses
- Most importantly, I advocate giving website owners their online assets. Every client I meet, I tell them to take ownership of all their online properties - even Facebook, Instagram, etc. NEVER leave it in the hands of a vendor.
You will find, in the long run, this will be to your advantage, too.
Hope the above is helpful?
Hi Tim,
Thank so much for all these tips. I am learning from all of you.
Ok, here is the thing. I am part of this organization with my local community. So they wanted me to help them create a website. I am willing to do that but I am not 100% sure if I should use my credit card to purchase the domain and other stuff for the site. I am not charging them any money, I am only trying to help. So since we are group of people not just one individual I wanted to know the best way to go about making purchases (Domain and Hosting)
I don't mind paying for it because we are trying to help to rebuild our falling old community center in our town. In this case, I am I am just wondering if prepaid card is the way out, though, I am not sure if it is acceptable.
Hi Dorothy,
You are welcome. Very good of you to help your community. :)
I am not sure how is the governance and law in USA for this. But in Asia, even working with a charity, which I have in the past, it is still the best for the group to purchase all the online assets on their own. Usually, they would have a budget for it.
Of course, you can still buy it for them. Make it as a donation. And transfer ownership to them.
My advise - discuss this with them. They may already have the budget.
Or if they appreciate you buying the domain name and hosting for them, find out what is the approved payment method? For compliance to legal requirements. Also, you may be able to get a tax refund when you do it the right way.
For example, in Singapore, when we donate to charity, we get a 200% tax refund on the amount donated.
Waoh! Such a great idea I never thought of it. Sure, I will discuss it with them. They are short in cash and any help they get will be appreciated. That is why I am thinking of buying it for them. You are absolutely right, I can also make it as a part of donation. Very smart idea. I was thinking that way.
I am grateful to you for all these wonderful ideas that you have given me.
Thank you....
I was also thinking along these lines, or funding the expenses with donations. I like the charity idea. Another thing I just thought of is finding another similar nonprofit project and ask how they have it set up.

I do not have All in One SEO plugin setup on my website. Wondering if it would be a problem if I go ahead to activate and set it up, even though I have created a lot of content
Yes, you can.
After you have done so, you need to:
1. Do Keyword Research, and decide on the best keyword for your site.
2. Add this keyword to the Site Title. This is to tell the search engines to consider your website for that keyword.
3. Then activate all the features (Free ones).
4. Add your social accounts info. And set the OG Image so that when you share your posts, the featured image will be pushed to the shared article.
5. Set up your XML Sitemap, and submit the site map url to Google Search Console. After that, the plugin will automatically update Google whenever you publish new posts.
Just these for now, and more later when you are ready.
Hi Tim, thank you so much for your contribution. I think I am a bit confused with all these steps. Please do you mean to apply them after activating the All in on SEO?
Hi Dorothy,
Yes, you can still active and setup seo on a already built website.
First, it is very important to backup your website before you install AiO SEO plugin and activate it.
Here's a short video on how to fully back up your site. If you have time, please check it out- Full Backup With a Plugin Hope this help,Dorothy.
