Private mentorship & how you may be missing it in WA.

Hi folks, so on occasion, I'll get PM's from members, both my referrals and not who ask me for private mentoring. They'll ask me for Skype calls, they'll even ask me to take a period out of my day to help them personally.

Let me clarify a few things and then explain why mentorship IS available in WA, just not in the way you may think and WHY that's GOOD.

First let me explain that I offer my personal help to ANYONE who reaches out to me. I have never turned anyone's question/s down, unless they were trying to sell me something.

However, do note that I have my own business to run while I do all of this, I simply cannot devote a specific set of time for one member through the avenues they ask me to. If I did that for one person, I'd have to open the doors for everyone and then I would never be able to get any personal work done.

Now, if you came to WA, you may have heard about the private 1 on 1 coaching you get. I certainly advertise this on my site and guess what? It EXISTS, it's just in a different form.

Here is the way to access private mentorship in WA:

1) Do the MAIN training. Folks, you need to understand that the lessons in WA, particularly, the Online Certification Course & Bootcamp are the MAIN training inside WA, created by Kyle & Carson, extremely successful online marketers.

They have simply developed their personal blueprint (those 2 trainings) for being successful at this business.

When you go through this training, it is personalized as you get to take the lessons/tasks and adjust them to your liking. For example, in the online certification course, you pick your own niche then use the blueprint to plug it away and build it up.

How is that not mentorship? You are given a personal guide to success through this, you just need to do it!

2) Asking questions through: PM/Question forum/Live Chat.

Use the live chat when you can guys, there's plenty of people who will help you there. If I am there, leave me a question. If I'm free I'll answer it. Kyle and Carson are there too. I've personally gotten a ton of value out of the live chat.

Question forum. One of the most underutilized aspects of WA. You ask ANY question, then the whole community can come in and help you.

PM. Look, I consider myself pretty experienced and like I said, I will never turn any question down, so feel free to PM me your questions. Consider my answers as consultation AND mentoring, because that is what it is.

BUT and this is a BIG ONE:

Make sure you're doing the training. If I get questions from someone who literally just started WA and is asking me about how to make websites and how to do standard things the training covers, I will not waste time in answering these questions and will just refer you to the training, because I know from experience if I answer someone's question who didn't do the training, they'll come back with 2 more questions and more and more, until I finally tell them to SIT down and do the training, then 99% of these questions go away.

To conclude, mentoring is a two way street:

  • You simply cannot ask someone in WA to do work for you.
  • You need to work on your site and your business yourself.
  • You have the BEST helping hands to do this: The training and support.

When you have questions, use the support, but absolutely make sure you're doing the work, otherwise you're just wasting everyone's time.

I will absolutely help anyone but I will go beyond the call of duty if I see the person who I am helping is TRULY putting in the effort, doing the training and working their butt off.

Bravo!!!

I agree with Eddy, I think this post should be included as part of the training. As incredible as this community is, the training is where the foundation is lain. Bypassing or trying to skip over lessons and tasks would be the equivalent of trying to build a house on sand.

I have had the pleasure of commenting on a few of your posts through Site Rubix, Vitality, so I know without a shadow of a doubt that you have a "wealth" of knowledge. This post is incredible! Thank you, Vitality!

Thank you Veronica :)

You said it all, Vitaliy! Thanks for sharing this post with us!

Well Said!!!

Our Willingness To Help Others Can Be Detrimental to Our Own Good!!!

I Hope New Members See Your Post!!!

Perhaps it Should Be In The Very First Lesson We Covered???

Best Wishes Vitaliy!!!

There's got to be a balance but even those who ask for help need to understand that the helper has their own goals to achieve.

This is something that from time to time needs to be repeated here. I think this has been brought up at least 4-5 times in the 2 years I have been with WA, and as people come and go, it will continue I think....

Understandably those WA members having referrals may spend more time with new members to get them started properly, but at the end of the day, the nature of the online business requires self-discipline and a plan to make the best use of your time available.

All of us here are busy (or should be) building our businesses out. This is a major investment and little time is left for mentoring activities...

There is a time and place for one on one training, just not so much in this community setting...For instance, right now I am training 4 new employees on some of the tasks they will be doing for our online businesses.

This training involves some one on one time and conference/video calls, but because these people are working for me, it is a part of the overall business operation...

For members here, everything is laid out already...

The fundamental 'plan'; is available to all in the training. From there you can go in a number of directions, depending on your personal vision of what your online business will/should look like.

In that process of building out the business, there most certainly will be questions that come up from time to time, even after years of experience, because things change, new things are available, and as you gain knowledge, you will have new more pointed questions...

That too is where the value of WA comes into play, because here you can quickly get answers when this happens...Between that and trusty (and poorer now after the EU penalty they just got ht with) Google comes in...

True one on one mentoring normally will cost you an arm and a leg if you want to spend the money. I know. I have spent money doing this. That is a whole other ball game and the cost cuts out most people from availing themselves of that route...

There really is no need for that expense however. If you are motivated, follow the lessons and use the other features found here to ask questions not answered in the training, etc. everyone will be fine...

Cheers!

Well said Dave!

I agree with most of what you shared, Dave. But sometimes, even after going through the training, and posting questions, there will be areas where one-on-one counseling is needed.

There were a few ocassions when I reached out to people via PM, but this was only after I did extensive research on my own, and for whatever reason, the training on that particular subject wasn't sinking in for me. I really don't like asking for personal help like that, but if I can't figure it out in my own, it's either stay stuck or reach out for help.

Because I know that people are not getting paid for this, I am forever grateful.

Veronica

Yes, I have also done some of that, minimal I think over the last 2 years...As you say they do not get paid for that, and anything they may have time to do is of their own volition, and should not be abused (overused)...

Rather, I have reached out more externally through Facebook Groups and using Google and YouTube (amazing what you can find out there)...

In either case, that reaching out has helped me immensely, and without it I would have been stumped as to what direction or action to take...

Cheers!

Those are great ideas, Dave. There was a question I posed months ago that no one could answer. It was a link that someone shared from YouTube that allowed me to move forward on a particular topic.

Great advice, Dave.

You are right and we do run our own businesses even though we will help anyone who ask if they are doing there part. Working on their site, doing the training etc. etc. great post

Read it all. Minding my own business, I'd rather handle everything on my own. And ask only when I feel I can't find an answer. Thanks to you, few questions I had, have all been answered.

This is a good way to go, but sometimes you really will need to ask for help, and we are here to help :)

There are some great mentors here in WA Vitally. PM me for more information!

Hi Mike, I think you missed my point :P

Thank you Vitally.....well said.

Great post. I see a lot of people trying to bypass the training and just asking all their questions in live chat and elsewhere. Sticking to the training answers pretty much everything.

Yeah they think they can cut it short by doing this, but it doesn't work.

Good point!
